IU College of Art +Design's building in Columbus is a unique stop when visiting this architecture town. With a medium-sized gallery in the front of the building, IUCA+D hosts some interesting exhibits. And, it's also FREE. Culture and respite on my travels for no fee, I'm in!I follow IUCA + D on social media to see what their current and upcoming exhibitions are/will be. There's not always something on, especially at the holidays and over summer, so I'd double check before making an effort. However, it's an easy and fun stop on the way to Bloomington. The space is cool, parking is plentiful curbside, and it is right around the corner from Zaharako's and the shops on the main through fare.On this visit, we saw a monumental piece made by students with a 3D printer in conjunction with Cummins. It took up the whole room and made you think about the capabilities of this printing. About 18 months ago, I saw a fantastic, costume exhibit from the IU permanent collection that had been curated by students. If you're going to be passing through Columbus or even live nearby but haven't ventured over, check this unique space out.
