Last year the wait was over and hour and I didn't end up getting any strawberry shortcake because I had to get back to work. So, this year we did the pick up order for 10. Two of us walked over around 9 am to pick them up. Mind you a line had already formed outside and people were already enjoying their strawberry shortcake. So, we go inside and down to the basement of Christ Church Cathedral. So, we're thinking they had 10 shortcakes in a bag, a tub of strawberries in a container, same for the ice cream and whipped cream. So, when we got back we could make our own when we got a chance. NO!!! We get there and we don't even know how long the shortcakes had been sitting on the tables already made!!!! They had so much juice in them that transporting them was a mess in those flip containers they were in. By the time we got back it was mushy. Some of us didn't even eat them they just weren't fresh like you would get if you had them in line. Next year we won't be doing that. I wish they had them separated. My other coworkers were like why were they already made if you weren't even there yet? We were the only customers down there. No one was in the basement picking up orders. :-/Hopefully next year will be better by going and getting in line. So, if your company or group of 10 want to order ahead know that they might be sitting for who knows how long....

I've gone every year and the festival only gets better! The lines move quicker, more people are there to enjoy, and the shortcake is always amazing. Definitely recommend getting there early OR ordering ahead for 10+ orders if you don't want to miss out

It is a yearly Strawberry Festival fundraising benefit that is hosted by the Christ Church on Monument Circle. It is volunteer run. These folks are dedicated. The shortcakes are homemade. I can't imagine how they made thousands but they do. It is busy so be ready for that. They run smoothly getting people their strawberry shortcake desserts. There is seating but there could be more. All in all a nice dessert for worthy charity.

Super fun local fundraiser! I always went as a kid so it was nice being able to go back! The works is $8 & comes with all the toppings. We got one to split because they are huge. The shortcake is a biscuit, which I love, but if you are more of a cake person you may want to ask for it without! They also take card now and not just cash, so that's more convenient! We waited in line for about an hour, but the weather was nice so it was no trouble. A nice way to support the community with proceeds being donated!

1st time attending the Strawberry Festival on monument circle. I was expecting huge lines but due to the chilly weather today we walked right up and received our strawberry short cake within 4 minutes. All the volunteers were doing a great job and were friendly and efficient. You definitely have to get the works for $7. Strawberries, short cake, whipped cream, and ice cream. Cash only. Honestly the whip cream was so good I could do without the ice cream next time to save calories. Lol Not only do you walk away with a delicious dessert but you also donating to help fund local non profits. A win win.

One of the perks of summer is the strawberry festival! I happened to be working with a client downtown and we ended up detouring our way to try out "the works" as they call it. When You walk up, the line looks very intimidating but it moves super fast. The sun is bright so if you need to wear a hat or bring that umbrella then definitely think about that before coming. Once you get closer to the line, the customer service is nice and they load you up with strawberries, ice cream, whip cream, and a biscuit. The portions are huge and you can even split them with someone! This was my first time trying it and it was pretty good! I will be back next summer with my family Pros Line moves fast Yummy dessert Good customer service Perks of summer ConsThey only take cash!!! They don't serve drinks

One of my favorite Indy traditions. This year was the first year I was able to enjoy the festival without missing out on any of the strawberry shortcake ingredients. The event was on monument circle and seemed to move efficiently. My boyfriend and I only waited in line for 30 minutes when in the past I've waited up to an hour. This event is to benefit local, national, and international catholic organizations. I don't mind paying $7 for a good cause while getting tasty strawberry shortcake.

I look forward to this event every year. Not only to you get a delicious strawberry shortcake, but the money goes to support various non profits. You get a very nice sized portion served by a friendly volunteer. You can go through the church and get a to-go order like I did or you can go to one of the outdoor stands and get on to enjoy in the closed off Circle. You will more than likely experience a bit of a line, even longer during lunch hour, but it is steady and moves rather quickly. Remember they only accept cash and it is $7 for the works, which includes shortcake, strawberries, ice cream, and whipped cream. The ingredients can also be purchased individually for $2 each. Don't forget your napkins or spoon. The weather was a bit chilly this morning, but was not too bad. I am contemplating going to get another, but they are probably sold out by now.

Omg!! It was like heaven on earth. The event was pretty nice even though the weather could have been better. It was my first time attending and I must say, the Strawberry Shortcakes are beyond delicious. I am not a sweets person but I really enjoyed it.The treat was a strawberry short cake (short bread cake, strawberries w/ syrup, ice cream and whipped cream). The shortcake needed just a little bit more ice cream to even the portions. $7 well spent. And the money goes to charity :)

The two things that you want to see when you're attending an annual event: 1) they grow in size and success and2) they learn from their mistakes and improve. I've been going to this festival for the past few years since I started working downtown, and I can happily say that the Indy Strawberry Festival meets those two items listed above. It seems like more and more people attend every year, but the lines move fairly quickly, the volunteers are all friendly, and as always, it's for a good cause. The first year or so when I would go, you would wait in line for a very long time, the products seemed to be a bit overpriced, and they would always run out of products. This year (2017) was great! The lines moved within 5-10 minutes, it felt like 5lbs of dessert, and I felt like I got my money's worth. Great event for a great cause. Always a delicious way to kick off the summer season officially!
