A tiny hidden place in a very small stripmall, but so worth a visit. It's a bit divey, but comes with very friendly and welcoming service. Expect an occasional language barrier. I love that they have pictures of the dishes, because otherwise I would be completely clueless. Plus it is helpful because you may not be readily understood. There are dishes from other Asian regions, so something for everybody.I haven't had anything here that I didn't like, especially the appetizers are phenomenal in taste. And newly discovered a neon green apple juice, which I will rate a very yummy. Definitely a must try. Very refreshing.Portion here are very generous, prices quite reasonable and as mentioned service is great.

Definitely one of my new favorite spots. Very homey vibe, no frills and staff was very attentive and nice! Everything we tried was amazing. I recommend coming with a group and doing family style. We got kang kung (water spinach)-- my favorite veg! Nasi goreng - flavorful and the chili sauce is key! Samosas are a must!! Different than your traditional Indian samosas, and I loved the fish sauce it came with. Imbi kuay teow was my favorite dish; you can taste the perfect stir fry char ! I also ordered carrot juice which was freshly juiced in-house. I could have drank two of those for sure. You have to check this place out! Prices are very reasonable.

Imbi Restaurant is located in a small strip mall on the south side. It's not super large, but clean and very friendly staff. Food was delicious, ordered a variety of dishes pictured (also the samosas not pictured), and it was all truly delicious. Definitely will be coming back for yummy authentic Malaysian food!

Was there for dinner earlier today. Went in not knowing what to expect as the place is small and very basic. But the food is anything but basic, beyond the ordinary and extremely flavorful. The attentive service was impeccable. We also got to enjoy the second half of the Valencia vs Real Madrid game as we savored the meal. Our order consisted of the Tom Yum Seafood Soup, Laphet Toh (Tea Leaf salad), the Goat Curry and the Imbi special fried rice. The small sized Tom Yum was a perfect size as an appetizer for two people along with the crunchy Laphet Toh appetizer. The Goat Curry and Imbi special fried rice,,, were perfect by themselves, together they were just outstanding. The only thing that could have made this order even more memorable was if they had Malaysian Parotha on their menu to go with the goat curry. We will be back for more. This place is a gem and should not be missed.

The building was a Pizza Hunt store where my husband used to deliver. He was curious what was IMBI when he spotted it last week & search in YELP for reviews has 4 1/2 star. We decided to check-in the following weekend. I ordered that are foreign to me the Belacan seafood (quite salty but it's okay) & the Bah Kut Teh soup (not sure what's in it), the only thing I recognized is pork & some veggies the rest is questionable (I have to set it all aside). I could have probably ordered the Tom yum soup instead and enjoyed it better. The samosas & dumplings are just okay (won't order it again). My husband is a vegetarian he ordered the yellow pea fried rice is not that impressed especially he's not a fun of any kind beans and preferred tofu in his rice. He loves the fried egg sides, crispy on the outside & tasty. The service is okay but I didn't realize they charged you for ice water ($1.50) after I got our bill; most of the restaurant that we go to is free. Soda fountain is not available and you can only buy it in cans for $1.50.I still want to give it another try, I could probably get something according to my likings, they still have some stuff that I would like to try especially the noodles (maybe only to-go).

I will freely admit that I am no expert on Malaysian food. This is probably the first experience I've had with this type of food. I've had lots of similar flavors, but nothing else particularly identified as this. What I found wer generous portions, a casual dining experience with very little English being spoken, and food that tended towards being over cooked. The nondescript business blends into a strip mall that sits back from SR 135. There is plenty of parking and the place looks dark from the outside.Inside, the dining room is much brighter with a bit of ornamentation and television playing (volume on) in one corner. (It was playing some music video with a non-English wedding until one of the patrons turned it to something like MMA fighting.)One woman was handling the front end of the business. She hadn't bused all the morning dining tables yet, but made sure she cleaned one before I was seated. She brought me a menu and a free glass of hot tea. Note that they don't use any kind of strainer vessel for their tea. The leaves float around and for someone who is used to NOT having tea leaves in my sips, it was a bit odd spinning my glass around to avoid leaves and stems. I ordered a small Tom Yum Soup with noodles but wasn't asked if I wanted it chicken or vegetarian. Mine came with some tofu looking lumps and some shrimp with the tails still on. Again, maybe that's traditional, but I'm not a fan of it. The spice level was decent..not too hot, but enough to make my sinus react. And though it was the small version, this was a huge serving for a single person, probably well over a pint. I had expected something more like a breakfast bowl or smaller. This could be someone's meal. The flavors were fine, but the soup was served steaming hot. The shrimp had become rubbery and it was a necessity to blow on each bite to make it cool. I liked that they included a fork and a large table spoon for grabbing the noodles and veggies. They also provided an Asian style spoon for the broth. Good flavor, just over cooked. Before I could finish, my IMBI Beef arrived. Again, it was a large portion covering a 9" square plate. The beef was sliced to bite size and came with ginger, oyster sauce, and 3 inch pieces of green onion that were a bit chewy in texture. They offered chili peppers with it, but I passed. The flavor was good, but again, the beef was completely overcooked and took on what was becoming a familiar rubbery taste. Maybe that's the way the regular customers like it.When I finished, I was stuffed and paid at the counter (I wasn't brought a bill but the woman was sitting at the order counter not recognizing I was done.)As my rating shows, the food was okay, but nothing that I would rush back to try again. One last note to the owners: For only being open just over a year, there is an unusual amount of discoloration on your carpet from foot traffic. It makes the place look dingy and should be replaced or at the very least, deep cleaned. That does not appeal to Hoosier patrons if you are looking to expand your clientele beyond those who currently stop by.Review #2728

Food is amazing, I have eaten so much Asian food all my life but this food just hit different. The flavors are very on point, and you can vary it with the special soy sauce with chili oil they have it's pretty good, definitely worth a try.

Very friendly staff and delicious food! My favorite is the crispy pork and beef fried rice. Southeast Asian food is known to a a spice kick but staff really listen to your preference of the level of spice and accommodate it.
