One of our new favorite traditions is cutting down our tree at Hunter's Honey Farm! This year we actually went out and tagged it when it was warm and then went back on Wednesday to cut it down. So many cool things about that experience... 1) I used a chainsaw for the first time and now I want to cut down all the trees! 2) We put something that wouldn't fit in our car in our relatively new truck bed... it was sooooo big! 3) While I was there, I bought several jars of their honey (again)! They have completely embraced the "hot honey" trend and are making some amazing honeys that are perfect for a nice "drizzle" on pizza, a Christmas ham or even as a sweetener in your green beans or spaghetti sauce! Their service is fantastic and you're even able to taste a few before buying! Go see them for gift baskets or to join their "honey (not jelly) of the month club" #iykyk

Booking my tour here was easy. I requested a date for my little guy and I and then sent an email confirming my requested date. This place is a very unique spot that is located in Martinsville, off the beaten path. It is a local, family owned business. In addition to the Honey Farm, they sell Christmas trees and hosts an annual Fall Festival. You have to take a very windy road to get to the farm. The place has a few parking spots available. You will find some picnic tables under some shade trees, a saucer swing, and a decent pond with fish that you can buy food for at the gift shop. The gift shop is nice. They have everything honey. They have honey drinks, bees wax candles, pollen, honey comb, flavored honeys, honey barbecue sauce, honey ice cream, honey candy, and more. There is a station set up by the register that you can sample some of the goods. My kid really liked the hive set up behind the plexiglass with all of the bees. I must admit, I liked it too and sound it awesome. We took the Worker Special Tour, which combines the Honey Barn Tour with rolling your own beeswax candle and bottling your own honey in a small bear container. The staff there was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Tracy and Chris are awesome. They were also very knowledgeable and more than willing to share that knowledge. The tour starts off in what they call the Honey Barn, which looks like a plain old loading dock to me. This is the portion of the tour that they give the background of bees and the farm. it is very informative. Be aware that it is also standing room only. It is the longest part of the tour. They request that you not swat at the bees if they are buzzing around you. Easier said than done. It is a reflex to me, but I did pretty good. From there you move to the room where they make candles. This gives you a lot of information on how they make beeswax candles. You get to touch some samples, but don't make any during the tour. The final part of the tour is where you get to roll your candles, and bottle some honey. You do not get the pick which honey you get to bottle. It is preselected by what they have on the machine. The candle making and honey bottling is easy. My 3 year old did it (with a little help). The tour ends in the gift shop where you pay for your tour and you can buy any goods that you want from the gift shop. I got some of the honeycomb that I have heard so much about and some barbecue sauce. We were treated to an added bonus when we were driving out. There was a bunch of hives on the side of the driveway leading from the farm to the road. I found it cool, but my little was not a fan of all the bees flying around. There is not much to the tour and it is very basic. However, it is still very informative, very good for elementary school aged kids, and something unique and different. I am glad that I was able to make it there. I have been trying to work it in for a while. I wish we could have seen a little of how "the sausage is made" though, and get a deeper look behind the curtain.*****Tip: Keep an eye out for their tours on Groupon to save you a few bucks.

We had such a wonderful visit here this past weekend for their annual Honey Harvest Celebration. The day included a small farm petting zoo, play areas, honey sampling, honey cafe, helicopter rides and more. The event is free and open to the public. We had a blast exploring for a few hours with our toddler. We ended up leaning with honey sticks, whipped corn amok honey, bourbon honey, and baklava. They also had honey extracting demos and bee boxes on hand to learn more. The staff was all very friendly and eager to educate attendees. Overall, a very sweet and fun visit!

Wonderful little family business, big selection of different honey and honey flavored items. Took us a little land navigation to find it but glad we did. Check them out when they have the hive tour. Prices are reasonable for the honey products also.

What a fun morning we spent at Hunter's Honey Farm! We were heading out of town for the day and decided to detour to the honey farm and made it just in time for a tour. The tour was informative and entertaining and we learned so many new and interesting facts about honey bees. I can see where this would make for a fantastic field trip. The store was full of all kinds of goodies made with honey and we ended up purchasing quite a few unique and delicious items to enjoy later.Well worth a trip!

We've been using their delicious honey for many years. Very nice people. All kinds of honey bee related items in their cute little cabin gift shop. Local pollen, various flavors of spun honey, books, candy, and more. Various types of honey available for you to sample before you buy. You can also book an interesting tour. And your kids will love peeking through the glass window into an active hive!

My fiancé's family has made a tradition of going to Hunter's Honey Farm for the Harvest Festival every September. It's always so much fun, offers local vendors and some activities for the whole family. We love the tour of the facility that shows how the honey goes from comb to bottle. Staff is friendly and love to answer questions about the process. All of their products in the shop are of the highest quality. I highly recommend any of their chapsticks! They're the best I've ever used. I also recommend the honey sweet tea and honey ice cream. So delicious. Support your local bees and visit Hunter's Honey Farm when you're in the area!

Our visit was the perfect amount of time and the knowledge shared was appreciated. All my children, even the older ones loved visiting. Loved the end where we got to make our own candle and fill out our own honey bottle. Thank you!
