The staff are friendly and welcoming. The location was on the side of Needlers fresh market. We parked in that location. I got a double dip of their cold brew mocha in a waffle dish. It's a smooth, and flavor packed handmade ice cream. So delish. It's a smaller place, so I'm not sure what it's like in the summer. I assume packed.

I love love love Howdy Ice Cream! Every time I go to Needlers, I always stop in for a sweet treat after. They offer so many innovative flavors, but my favorite is the cold brew and cookies! It might be my favorite ice cream flavor of all time actually. I love their mission of championing inclusivity by creating jobs for people with disabilities. The employees that work there are always incredibly kind and willing to chit chat if you want. Highly recommend this place for a good scoop of ice cream and friendly folks.

The young lady at the counter was very friendly. We asked for samples, and she was very accommodating to give us samples.I thought the ice cream really lacked in flavor and so did the other two adults with me. Our teenager did get an ice cream cone and she just said it was OK. Hopefully they will up the flavoring in the ice cream. For instance, we tried the peanut butter and you could not even taste the peanut butter in it at all. I love the idea of ice cream being homemade. I wondered if it really was because most homemade ice cream has a lot of flavor. The place was clean, and there were several tables. This is connected to the Needlers market.

Great service, great ice cream, and great location! I checked out Howdy on a Friday afternoon and was met with the friendliest staff and lots of unique flavor options. I tried their most unique flavor, Dr Pepper, along with a few others, before settling on the cookies and cream Cookie Monster flavor. It was excellent. There were ample seating options both indoors and outdoors, and it was just steps from the cultural trail so I could eat it while exploring Mass Ave. Howdy's mission is to be "on a relentless pursuit to create more jobs for people with intellectual and developmental differences using the power of smiles and amazingly delicious ice cream." Now that is some ice cream and service I can get behind!

Have you discovered Howdy yet? You should. As an adult with a disability myself and as the director of provider relations for the state of Indiana's agency serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, I'm an enthusiastic supporter of Howdy's mission of creating jobs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through the power of our smiles and amazing ice cream. Located in downtown adjacent to Needler's Fresh Market, Howdy Homemade Ice Cream was started in 2015 in Dallas, Texas by Tom Landis. He started out as a franchisee for pizza and sandwich joints and became aware of how people with disabilities were often overlooked for the workforce when he hired a young man with Down Syndrome. Howdy has grown to 10 locations nationwide with four in Texas, three in North Carolina, one in Colorado, one in Louisiana, and now one in Indy. Howdy proactively seeks to hire individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, or IDD, and as a chain also offers its ice cream at Brookshire Brothers, H-E-B, and United Supermarkets. Prices here are on par with most ice cream shops - a little more than some but definitely lower than others (especially those downtown). The atmosphere is energized and inviting and so are the people. They are an allergy aware ice cream shop and have a wide variety of flavors available including the usual favorites and some a little more outside the box (or is that cone?). I think when I visited they had right around a dozen flavors. They offer a rewards program, as well. Great business. Great mission. Great employees. Great ice cream. I mean, seriously. Why wouldn't you visit?

We were an out of town group looking for a dessert place still open after dinner. Howdy came up on Yelp and we headed over. Little did we know, we were headed to an adorable shop right beside a grocery store with ample parking and seating, that was impeccably clean, had delicious options, and incredibly kind service. Each of us got a "double", whether it was a cone or in a cup. Some of the flavors offered today were delicious and a phenomenal variety. From a rich chocolate, to apple pie flavor, to watermelon sorbet, and birthday cake. The place smelled deliciously sweet and the ice cream didn't disappoint. So disappointed we don't live in the area or else this would be my go-to spot. Definitely check it out! There's also great seating outside and two ping pong tables nearby.

I popped in here as I was running errands and quickly became a fan. I first love the mission of providing jobs for people with developmental disabilities-- it was great listening to all the different ice cream flavors from one of the staff members! Definitely the best customer service I've experienced in a while. The ice cream too was really good! It's an interesting texture-- hard to describe but it seems like a mix between frozen yogurt and ice cream. As someone who likes chocolate, their chocolate ice cream was quite tasty! Perfectly positioned just off Mass Ave, I hope it gets the recognition it deserves.

Definitely stop by for a delicious ice cream served by the nicest staff imaginable. The location had a nice dining area with a very VERY large flat screen tv playing movies for everyone to enjoy. The cinnamon toast ice cream tasted just like the cereal and the Dr. Pepper chocolate chip ice cream was surprisingly amazing. This place was a delight!

Heard about a new ice cream spot on Mass Ave that we had to give a try! We stopped in on a Sunday after dinner, they are open until 9pm! We were greeted warmly by the staff and immediately began tasting samples!Super plus for me: they have a separate scooper for any peanut butter ice creams. Very reassuring to know as I always ask for a newly cleaned scooper for my daughter's allergies. The kids ordered kid sized scoops of vanilla and cookie monster and we enjoyed the treats outside. There is plenty of room in the ship and seats and space outside as well.We are also huge supporters of their mission which they state is to, "Create jobs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through the power of our smiles and amazing ice cream."
