Me - Do you sell food here?Teenage worker - yeah, right there. Pointing to empty food cabinet. Then walks away. The teenage boy and older blonde lady kept disappearing to the back and we couldn't get any help. When we asked why they kept leaving customers they started laughing and pointing at our group

I wasn't expecting much based on all the negative reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. I would suggest the skates upgrade--if they don't offer it to you, ask. It's only $1 extra. There are tons of lockers (50 cents) so you can stash your stuff while you skate. I do agree with another reviewer who said they needed a referee out on the rink. There was someone who was doing double duty at the skate rental counter and skating around, but someone full-time on the rink to make sure people are behaving appropriately (adults who are using the wheeled push stands meant for kids, I'm looking at you!) would have been a bonus. The music was good, and I loved the lights--made me feel like I was a kid in the 80s again! I'll definitely be back the next time I get an urge to skate.

This is a nice but small skating ring. We came on a Sunday and to get in and rent skates it was $11 which I found a bit expensive. But we did come here on a whim and there are deals online like the one on yelp I just saw. The place has a fairly clean feel but there is just trash from the clients cups, napkins, spills all over the place. I wish that instead of the employees talking behind the counter they did a quick clean up check every 30 min or so. They do have trash cans but the kids just toss their water cups on the floor. Locker rental is 50 cents and they have these little walker things for small kids to hold onto while skating. Again this is a fairly small rink but gets the job done. Has a nice little snack bar. Vending machine w waters and Gatorade and a vending area w ice cream. If you come here make sure to scout Yelp or Groupon for coupons. And do not let your kids skate w their phones because if they fall yes they will break. That is my public service announcement.

Visited Hot Skates last night for f cosmo skate night. I second guessed going because of all the negative reviews, but I'm glad I did. Cons: We paid $61 for a family of 4 (admission, skates, and a skating walker thing for our daughter). That is kind of pricey for skating. The food prices were also a bit pricey for the usual suspects- pizza, chips, nachos, etc. Pros:The Friday night DJ was Mama Mia and she was great. She played a great mixture of music. She interacted with the younger children, teenagers, and adults! There was time for backwards skating, advanced skaters, everyone, and a Congo line. Loved her! The staff seemed to all be teenagers or in their early twenties. They were friendly for the most part and helpful. A couple of them interacted with our 3 y/o to try to get her to dance! So cute. There is tons of parking! Overall- we will definitely be back! Giving them a 3 due to the prices and cleanliness of the bathrooms and the facility.

My family visited Hot Skates on Saturday October 21st...Prior to visiting I checked out the reviews and thought...maybe I should see if there was a Groupon...just Incase we hated it, it wouldn't be too bad on our pockets. I arrived skeptical, and with my large group of 13ppl. When we arrived, we were greeted by friendly staff members. We showed our Groupon package via cell phone and placed our included pizza order. We all needed rental skates (which was also included in our package). We all asked for our corresponding skate sizes, but because we had several small children with us, we kind of had to just ask for a size and see how it fit. The staff member was very patient during this process. She smiled and kept great conversation as we found everyone skates. After getting a quick look around, I immediately disagreed with many of the negative reviews that were posted. The carpet was clean, the staff member handing out the skates made sure to disinfect all the pairs of skates my kids returned while finding the right sizes...even if they were only worn briefly. The restroom was clean. There was a party or two in the birthday area and even with them there, the skating rink was mostly empty. (Which I didn't mind at all, because my kids have a fear of being trampled by bigger, faster skaters like at other skating rinks. After being there for about 15-20 minutes our pizza was brought out to our table. It was hot and fresh. It tasted pretty good, and the soda was nice and cold. As other visitors left their tables, the tables were cleaned and sanitized, and when a staff member was alerted of a spill, she quickly cleaned the spill up. When the music was on, staff members interacted with us, and danced to the beat of the music. Once our session was over, a manager came over to us and offered us an additional skate session for free. She only asked that we not skate on the floor while they cleaned it. While we waited for the next session to began, the staff went to work deep cleaning and sanitizing the entire rink. We had an excellent time! I just could go on and on. I really can not find one bad thing to say. If I HAD to knit pick, I'd say that some of their machines in the game area could give a few more tickets...but even that wasn't a big deal. We have a new SAFE skating rink to go to now. Where the facility is clean, the staff is friendly, the pizza is hot,the video projector plays the music video, 2yr olds can skate peacefully! I'm not sure whats up with the other reviews because this place is amazing! The best skating rink we have been to in the Indy-area...and I have visited all of them!

School sponsored skate, the kids and husband loved it. The extra large pizza was very good, we had pepperoni. The girls used little walkers they rented because they were first time skaters, nice invention didn't have those in my day. The facility was clean including the restrooms. The people working were very nice the young man passing out skates when he was done doing that he would go out on the floor and help pick up kids. We will go again.

We have been to this skating rink several times and have even held a birthday party there. Overall it's a pretty decent rink. The skating floor is large and has a pretty good even surface without any bumpy or rough spots. It's one of the larger and nicer skating floors in town. We do like the video screen because we are adult skaters who skate primarily for the cardio workout that's non-impact. The video screen helps break up the monotony while skating. We have visited about 5 times, and it's never super busy on the skating floor. Tuesday's are $2 admission and Thursday evenings are $3 each. The rental skates are decent enough if you're renting. One great thing about this rink is that there's bottled water for purchase, but there's also free cups of water provided for all. Bathrooms here are pretty large and adequately clean. This is a pretty big facility overall with room for probably 15 different parties at the same time. There's a smallish arcade with prizes and tickets available - pretty standard stuff. One thing I really like is that this is the only rink in town that I'm aware of that is open 7 days a week.I would give this facility 5 stars if:The temperature was cooler in the rink. One day we were there in the summer, and with the pizza oven on it was almost unbearably hot on the skating floor. The next time we came back it was better. The staff was friendlier. My husband asked the woman at the counter for change for the lockers and she seemed really put out by this :/The carpeted floors don't look like they get much TLC and sometimes look like they could use a good vacuuming. I've never seen a safety officer on the skate floor like other rinks to dissuade dangerous or too fast skating. They usually don't turn the lights down on the skating floor during evening skating hours. No clue why not because sometimes they do.

Hot Skates wants you to give them a 5 star review on Facebook so bad that they're willing to give you a pizza party in exchange for it. My word is not for sale at any price or discount. I am here to tell you that even free pizza could not entice me to return to this establishment. The carpet is dirty, the food is questionable and the staff is is completely incompetent and unprofessional from my perspective.Waited 45 minutes for food that was never delivered and ultimately gave up.I believe the owner has good intentions but the execution fails on many levels. Side note (The kids at least enjoy the skating and music).

Here is a quick list of things you need to know about hot skates:It's not clean (food always on the floors)It is inexpensive to skate! (Try Tuesdays for a great deal!)The food is overpriced...The pizza is pretty good for skating rink pizzaThe wings are pink inside and they only have a microwave to warm them, nothing to help cook them more thoroughlyThe staff is sometimes amazingly friendly and helpful! I'll still come to Hot Skates, but I eat before coming and I watch where I step.

We were here a few months ago. We were having a fine time until my husband got hurt. He tripped somehow when going from the rink to the carpet and his wrist snapped and was dislocated when he landed on it wrong. It was so bad, I was panicking and called the ER. While I was on the phone with the operator that's when a staff member thought it was a good time to approach me with a pen and paper to sign something I'm assuming it was the waiver they didn't ask for at the door. Absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional.
