You don't have to go to California or the Bourbon Trail for a great wine and bourbon tasting experience because right in the little town of Zionsville is an amazing tasting bar. The bar is owned and locally operated by Ron Hopwood. Ron makes and bottles his own wines and bourbons. Most of the grapes are locally grown.I have passed by his bar for years because I was skeptical of Midwest wines until I had a bottle of his chardonnay at the local pizzeria. The chardonnay was so smooth and delicious, that I walked down the street to his tasting room. The cozy upscale bar is FILLED with Hopwood wines and bourbons. He offers tastings or you can buy a bottle or glass. and sit at one of his lovely tables and sip. He even sells charcuterie boards and dipping breads to pair with your wine.Awards for the wines cover a wall. Ron is most proud of winning the 2019 American Wine Societies award for best cabernet sauvignon. The wines are inexpensive and they offer special pricing to Club members. To be a member, one needs to commit to buying 2 bottles/month or 2 cases/year. It's such a great deal that I am going back over this week to join. Ron has special events for Club members!Hopwood is a great place to sneak away on a date or with your bff. It is cozy and delicious.

Had a nice afternoon happy hour here with a couple girl friends. We had a cheese plate with our wine which was nice. I really liked the dry red wines the best.

I've been intentionally tasting wine for about 12 years and while Indiana is the #4 wine producer in the US (you read that right) I've found that many Indiana wineries lean toward the sweeter wines or wines that taste like fruit without having much "wine that tastes like wine."Not so with Hopwood! Hopwood offers a great variety of dry, semi-dry/sweet, and sweet wines. Don't worry, they have plenty of sweeter wine and fruit wine if that's your fare. My point is that they've got it all!I could easily have taken home a case of single bottles that are all great wines in the dry to semi range. If you like red wine I will recommend the petit sirah. It's difficult to find an Indiana petit sirah and this is a good one!The owners are fantastic, friendly, and helpful with their wine knowledge. They have a couple great wine club options that are built for flexibility and even offer shipping options. I decided to go with the 3 bottles per quarter option so they'll send me 3 random bottles from the dry range every three months and the discount is in the 20% range compared to retail. Also, I almost forgot that they're also a distillery brewing up several bourbons. I didn't have a chance to rate the bourbon but I'll be back and update this review accordingly. Ok, final recommendation for my locals...stop by Hopwood, do a tasting, buy a bottle, go next door to Moody Meats to buy a steak then go home and grill your steak and have your wine pairing. You're welcome.

This is a great place to come in such a cute town! I came here and got a cranberry breeze mock tail which was very tasty! I also ordered the smoked Gouda cheese board, was delicious! The owner was very energetic and nice! He made small talk (where are you from? What's your name?) and was very friendly. I highly recommend checking out this place out!

Coming to see Ron is enough...but his wine is top notch!Their wine is award winning and you can taste the quality. If you have friends that don't drink it...or those with sweet only, they have you covered as well.

Great selection of varietals and the gentleman who helped was really knowledgeable and sold the wines without pushing them. They have bourbon as well and we had an amazing mango and bourbon slushee with some whipped cream on top and it was amazing! I can see why they've won a top of awards. Highly recommend! Very comfortable seating area.

Hopwood has become a must-stop for my husband and I when we make our yearly pilgrimage to the Indiana wine trail. The tasting room in Zionsville is quite charming and cozy, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The wine selection is spans everything from dry, oaked wines to sweet, fruity wines. That makes Hopwood perfect for us, as my husband prefers the drier wines while I prefer the semi-dry and sweeter wines.Even if you're not a huge wine drinker, I think you might really enjoy Hopwood. They have something for almost everyone, including a small menu of meat, cheese and bread options to go along with your tasting experience.

Quaint winery in the heart of Zionsville. It was my first visit so I did a tasting which is 5 wines for $5 dollars, a great deal and a great way to try a variety of their wines. And they do have a great and wide variety! The ones I tried were very good. It's a small, intimate winery with a very friendly staff. A great place to sit back and unwind.

My husband and I drove down to Zionsville for a weekend in celebration of our 12th wedding anniversary. After walking the quaint streets of Zionsville and eating at the extremely delicious local restaurant, Rosies, we decided to stop into the winery. The very kind lady working was great at directing our choices. She provided wonderful suggestions and great conversation. We ended up leaving with a delicious bottle of Bekkar. The next day we came back for more and ended up purchasing an entire case. I cannot wait to return to visit the expanded winery! It's exciting to visit a place, love it, and then hear of its upcoming growth/ expansion.

Was not a wine drinker until we came to Hopwood. Now I like even the dry reds. sweet Lailah is a great starter wine along with their Kandi wines. If you want a great semi dry red then look no further than their chambourcin black. However they do not have one that I do not like. They also have their own bourbons and whiskey. The owners are fantastic. I would highly recommend going there. You will love the experience and if you are smart you will become wine club members where you will receive the best value for your money.
