Tried the apple cider pork loin and it was amazing. Very tender and full of flavor. The waitress kept our drinks cold and full. Very quick to get such a delicious meal. I love this place

My bff wanted to come here for her birthday, so I packed up and headed west. HR sits back off Main St (Hwy 136) in a small, nondescript building just behind the liquor store. Don't blink or you'll miss it! Entrance is on the west side of the building. I knew I was in the right place when a very friendly employee greeted me and asked me how many were in our party. It's a smallish dining space, but they do have a small bar and long wooden tables that look like they would hold at least 10 people each. Seems like a fun place to have a special event! Our waitress was quite attentive and friendly, helping us navigate the menu and make some choices. Note: the entrees are served family style! She and another friendly patron at the bar described their house wine drinks (of which you can choose a flight to try them all). We opted to start with drinks, fried pickles and the charcuterie board. For our main entrees we chose the fried chicken and gnocchi with a side of jalapeño mac and cheese. The charcuterie board was amazing with a variety of meats, cheeses, olives, hummus, veggies, Dijon mustard and toasted baguette slices. A little secret about the pickles: they're sweet (and delicious)! When the entrees arrived we were even more impressed, especially by the gnocchi. My friend's hubby said they reminded him of an herbed dumpling, and that's a true statement. They were so tender and melted in your mouth! I didn't try the chicken, and my pic doesn't do it justice, but everyone else devoured it, as well. The mac & cheese was also unique in that it had a great jalapeño flavor without a ton of heat. The cheese sauce, wow! Just like my gma used to make. They were even so nice as to let us eat our own bday cake at the end of our meal! We rolled out of there satisfied and truly happy to have tried this gem of a place. They also offer catering services. I, for one would be thrilled if someone told me they were bringing HR's food in for a meal!

Holy Yum! A hidden gem in Pittsboro and most definitely worth the trip out of Indy. We've been twice now and can't wait to come back again. We had a cocktail, I think it was called a Gold Rush. It was so good that we might have had a few of them. It was made with Maker's Mark and was super refreshing and light. We started with the fried green tomatoes and then shared the brussel sprouts, gnocchi, smoked salmon, and bbq chicken. I'm looking forward to the leftovers! Everything was amazing. The brussel sprouts were perfectly crispy and moist. The lemon on the gnocchi kept me coming back for bite after bite. I'm not willing to share the leftover dill and caper smoked salmon with yogurt sauce. It's that good. That BBQ chicken was amazing too. It's bone-in with a sweet, smokey, and slightly spicy flavor. We shared an incredible bottle of wine. I like a dry, barely sweet, full-bodied wine and this was a perfect wine, in my opinion. We drank it with the honey lavender cake, which was so moist and delicious. The service is also excellent. I'd highly recommend giving Hoosier Roots a try and am looking forward to coming back!

Admittedly, I'd like to be selfish and keep this place to myself and the few others who know how amazing it is, but that isn't fair to the restaurant. So, here's why you need to go to Hoosier Roots ASAP.1. If you order family sized portions, you get family sized portions. By that, I mean I ordered the fried chicken, and I got a WHOLE CHICKEN FRIED. I'm talking wings, drumsticks, breasts, and thighs, and this bird was DELICIOUS. The crispy breading on the outside has great flavor, but it is not covering up how good the chicken is. It is so juicy! 2. The jalapeño mac & cheese is better than your grandma's, and after you taste it, you'll probably begrudgingly agree with me. It's even good reheated for lunch the next day because, of course, you'll have leftovers! 3. The Maker's Mark Revolver is one of the most subtle coffee cocktails you'll ever have. I am a fan of old-fashioneds, but I enjoy drinks that vaguely play off that style more. I also enjoy boozy/spirit forward cocktails. This drink is smooth and sophisticated, but it will make you anything but if you have too many. Unfortunately (or I guess, fortunately depending on how you look at it) for you, they're so good, that's pretty likely to happen. The restaurant is a bit limited with seating, but the food is worth any wait. Even if you do have to wait, the portions will make up for your increased hunger. The service is as awesome as the food. So, take people with you, and tell your friends about this place (just not too many...)

We had a great dinner last night at Hoosier Roots. Party of 5 and they were very busy. The drinks and food kept coming, our server was busting her buns! I didn't get pics of everything, we started with the Potato rolls with Maple Butter, yum yum yum! Then Fried Green Tomatoes with Remoulade sauce. We ordered family style and had Fried Chicken (delicious), Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Mac n Cheese, Brussel Sprouts, and one person had the Smoked Rib special with Corn casserole. The Ribs were superb, great smoky flavor and fall off the bone. Can't wait to go back and try other options.

Hoosier Roots did not disappoint! The dinning area inside is very small; if you want to sit inside I'd suggest you get there early. We didn't want to wait, so we decided to sit on the patio outside. They have a cocktail menu as well as some wine and beer options. There is a menu for sandwiches, and then another menu for larger plates to share. We tried the beer can chicken, Brussel sprouts, and jalapeño macaroni and cheese. The portions are large and enough to share between 2-4 people. The food was excellent, and everything tasted homemade. I can't wait to come back! The presentation of the food and drinks were excellent.

Love that the small town of Pittsboro has another family sit down restaurant option. Located about 25 minutes from Indy, it's nice to have a new option. I got the beer can bbq chicken nachos and loved the bbq and queso. I personally ate the whole thing, so if you're hungry and eating it as a meal, I would say it only feeds one. Dishes are served family style, but I would say if you're hungry the dish probably serves 2 people. The kids meals were a solid portion. Next time I want to try the fried chicken with some of the delicious looking sides. Don't skip on the drinks and custom cocktail menu. The Mai Tai is suburb and there is a full bar. I overall enjoyed my trip. The waitress was super sweet and attentive and I can't wait to try more.

I have been dying to come to this restaurant. We got here and the restaurant is extremely small. We had a very small wait. We came here for the fried chick but unfortunately they had ran out of that, the rolls and scalloped potatoes. We ended up getting the beer can chicken and Brussels sprouts. The Brussel sprouts were amazing. They were the best I have had. The chicken was good. I have to say it did take a long time for the food to come out. I think we were there for roughly 1 hr 45 min.

Good food, solid service, with reasonable prices. Unique menus, one for family style, and another for à la cart dining. Ordering from either or both encouraged. Inventive drink menu as well.

They forced us out because we had a screaming baby. I get that it was loud, but didnt have to force all of us out. The service was okay with having to wait about 15-25 minutes for drinks and 25 more before we had to leave. They only had a few people though. so i understand the wait times.
