When we checked in and went to our room, the door was open We went downstairs to the reception and they brushed off our concern stating that it's probably housekeeping who didn't close the door properly. We asked if there's another room that we could switch but our request was denied. As a compromise, the reception said they would instruct the private security to patrol our floor more frequently. Room itself was fine, and soundproofing was decent. I hoped there were more channels offered in the TV since it appeared to be IPTV. But it's missing some basics like the Weather Channel.Hotel breakfast in the lobby doesn't have enough tables. The selection of food was lacklustre. They only opened the Homewood Suites side for breakfast on weekends or when the hotel was super busy, but there's far more seating there and much quieter.

Due to my house flooding, I've been forced to stay at a hotel. It was very chaotic entering the parking lot. Parking is $45/night. I was greeted when I checked in. It was very busy. The room was clean for the most part. There was someone else's hair in the bathroom shampoo bottle. YUCK.

The property is unique in a few ways. First it's a combination of two properties Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites. I stayed on the Hampton Inn side. The cool factor is that it's built from a late 1800's church. It was one of the first African American house of worship in Indianapolis. They built new structures on the back and side and added a parking garage. Original stain glass and light fixtures remain. There is also retail space that's being finished off for tenants. Finally for the other unique item is location off the Indianapolis Canal Walk. I will start with the biggest highlight which was surprisingly the valet service. Its $37 a day and they earn it. My car was pulled out after texting them quickly and the staff was always friendly. Considering the high volume of cars with NCAA basketball and swimming I was impressed. Close second on highlight was the front desk. They handle flow from both hotels. Check-in and out was smooth. Wake up calls handled correctly and other request such as an early morning request to coordinate valet to have my car pulled out at 5 AM. The property is still punching out a list. I saw workers outside painting railing for the handicap ramp. I'm sure there are other items pending. The biggest items I noticed were door molding falling off.Their are two breakfast areas. The main is first floor lobby which has real plates and silverware. A spacious area to eat with TV. The other is on the second floor. They have paper plates and plastic utensils which was a disappointment. I utilized both and recommend the first floor if not too busy. The food was better too! Expect eggs, potatoes, meat, waffles, yogurt coffee and juice. I loved the cinnamon waffle option. The staff was hit or miss on eye contact and no one went out of there way. The areas were kept clean. Some amenities of the hotel are a small indoor pool, first floor and business center also first floor. There is a small market in the check-in area which has microwave foods, snacks, drinks, alcohol and ice cream. I got a few beers and gave my room number and it was on my final folio. A cool factor is they have bottles of local Spirits made in Indy. The location next to the IUPUI campus worked fantastic to walk to my event daily. I felt safe during the day and night. As a matter of fact police was at the hotel upon my early morning departure patrolling. I would return to either property the next time I have an event in downtown Indianapolis.

Okay hotel, sort of clean. You're required to pay $40 to park and valet service, plus a ten dollar tip. When getting prepared to leave and go see the town, my husband and I packed our luggage. When I tried to get out my room floor, the elevator trapped me inside, took me to the third floor, while my husband got out with the key. No solution but to go to the first floor. When I asked at the desk for a key to go up, explaining the situation, she asked me for id. This is the US, you're not supposed to be required to carry id on you full time.Needless to say I was upset. My husband rescued me, no apology from the desk clerk.

Omg this room was so nice. Not one but TWO sets of blinds. Flew from the west coast and didn't want to switch time zones so I set my alarm for just before 9 am. Was completely dark in the room. And the bed was so comfy. I slept like an angel. Shower had such good water pressure, and gym was great (not many weights but lots of good cardio machines) and nice looking indoor pool. Breakfast was standard for a Hampton Inn. DISCLOSURE: I have only stayed in a few 5-star or more bougie hotels. I do not prefer them. I love me a nice Hampton or Marriott-affiliate. So if you like the fancy stuff, this hotel isn't that. But if you're a normal Joe Blow looking at 3-stars, this is a five star 3-star hotel. Does that make sense?

The hotel was very convenient for the things I had to do while visiting the area. The staff was very courteous and attentive whenever I needed anything. The entire place was super clean which is a HUGE plus in my book! I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

Ok I will start with the good. They are very clean the rooms are like brand new. The staff is very nice, always say hello to you. They have breakfast available in the morning which is a busy time for everyone to grab. Indoor pool/gym available. There's a snack store and drinks in the lobby if you need to grab some things for yourself. We did need the parking for the weekend of our stay here. They have public parking and the area is very busy. So the parking is not just for the hotel. Both nights we came back and there was no parking at all available. The front desk gave us $35 back in refund, since I explained to them we had to park down the block in some sketch parking lot instead. I was not pleased. I wish they would have told us parking is super limited! basically if you park and find a spot, you have to keep you car there and never move. That's inconvenient. When we did park 1 time, the gate would not open for us, the staff have to walk outside and scan a card for the gate to open if you leave. Wow. The room we had was facing the street, we could hear ambulance and cars all night so loud! so I had no sleep both nights of our stay. I tried to use the AC to drown out the street noise. The AC really does not work in these rooms either. Overall I probably won't come back, we got a very cheap Priceline deal for this weekend.

We stay there for 5 nights and the accommodations we good. The suites were nice a big. The reason for the 3 star review was because check in was supposed to be at 3:00 pm. We arrived a little after 4:00 and they told us the room was being cleaned and it would be about 15-20 minutes and the room would be ready. We told them we would wait with our friends having drinks in the lobby (right be hide check-in), it was over 2 hours before we got checked in. When I went back to the desk to check they had totally forgot about us. They gave no apology. Our friends had mentioned they all got $30.00 a night discount for their rooms not being ready, so I asked and was told the discount would be taken off our bill. After reviewing my bill they discounted only 1 night. The room was $209.00 per night. We do want to give a big job well done to the bell guys, especially Big Mike. Mike was definitely the friendliest person we met in Indy.

This Hampton Inn, Homewood Suites is beautiful. It is built within a Methodist Church. It still retains the stain glass and fixtures from the church. Valet parking is extra, but Joe and Fran make it enjoyable. If you want to stay near IUPUI, you will love it here.
