Highland Golf & Country Club

Played this course on March 16 when the temperature was in the 70's. The fairways and greens were in great condition considering the time of the year. The course was easy to navigate (not a lot of trouble) but that's due to the fact that a lot of the rough and heather were probably mowed down in the winter and you have some forgiving fairways. This will definitely be a little more difficult course to navigate this spring when the vegetation grows in. The staff were friendly and members were very laid back. There wasn't an air of "up-tightness " I've experienced at some clubs, it was a really relaxed yet professional environment. Had a burger and fries at the Pub and the food was ok. The coke was a little flat. Nothing to rave about but it was ok. The pace of play was really good, took me about 3:50 to play 18 and never felt rushed and the group in front of us maintained a good pace of play. I recall 3 restroom facilities (including one at the turn) on the course. I've played some private courses where you better hold it until you reach the turn on you are in trouble. A member informed me of some changes coming to the course and it sounds like the management team is going to make some major modifications to the course next year. I was unable to see the locker and weight rooms as both facilities were undergoing renovation but the pro-shop was nice and again the staff very knowledgeable about products and friendly. The main building is dated and from what I could see of the swimming pool it seemed to be small in comparison to some other private clubs in Indy. I got a chance to step into the golf academy and wow was I amazed! There are I believe seven bays, four bays with heaters allowing outdoor practice in the colder months, one large practice bay for club fitting and private lessons and two indoor bays with simulators and a lounge area for relaxing. Oh, and a large indoor putting and chipping green. If you know someone and can get a round at this course I would encourage you to do so. Beautiful weather, relaxed environment and I even made a couple friends. All the ingredients for a great golf experience.

Played this course on 8/1/21 as a member guest. Course is in great condition, the layout is ok, pace of play was great, never had to wait on anyone in front of us. Staff was pretty friendly.

The golf course layout gets 2 stars, but good conditions, excellent clay tennis courts, and a nice private club feel make the overall experience a 3.
