Helen Coffee Shop

Outstanding baked goods can be found at this little shop. I've never had an item that I didn't want to buy and eat again. Scones, cookies, cakes.... all so good! I have a family member that lives 9 hours away and raves about this place. She always goes to Helen's when she is in town or I bring Helen's creations to her.Coffee is just ok in my opinion, but I am also not big on coffee in general. I'm big on carbs and sugar!Heads up: only one or two people can fit into the shop at a time. Prepare if the weather is cold/rainy/snowy to stand outside a bit.

Helen's is a hidden gem in downtown Carmel. This tiny, locally operated coffee shop is a couple doors down from the Monon. There is no indoor seating, but there are a few tables outside. Helen makes the most incredible pastries. I stopped by for one of the chocolate croissants, but they were already sold out. So, I snagged the last blueberry scone and it was heavenly, light and fluffy, perfectly sweet with lots of blueberries. I LOVED it. (I may be making a frequent stop here, it's that good.) Helen is efficient and friendly. I didn't have any trouble finding street parking around 10 a.m.

For the small size of this coffee shop, I was very much impressed not only by the pastries but the very good coffee. There is standing room for maybe 3 people inside, but don't let that stop you. The young lady running this place was very polite and took very good care of me. I heard nothing but good things from people and I recommended this place to at least a dozen people looking for a coffee during the car show. I would go out of my way to come here for a coffee and to say I am a coffee snub might be an under statement. I got 4 cups of coffee here during the car show and would gladly have bought more, but you do need other food and drinks. I cannot recommend this place enough. Please try them out.

This is the actual smallest coffee shop you'll ever visit. If that's not on your bucket list, add it, go here, and then cross it off. You can fit one adult in the door... maybe two. We had a stroller with us and definitely couldn't bring that in, even though my husband was the only one in here. It's almost more of a coffee window in downtown Carmel. They used to be called Luxury Cakes and have a bigger shop by Sun King in Carmel. They then moved to this spot a few years ago. They have a drinks menu with coffee, lattes, matcha, tea, and more. They have an array of syrups for coffee drinks, but I think the bakery element makes this spot shine. My family calls this place the "spot with the best chocolate chip cookies." They were fresh out of the oven when we stopped in and it smelled amazing. They also have banana bread, macarons, customs cakes, and more. There were only a few options in the glass case when we stopped in, but we'll keep stopping by in the future to see what else we can try.

This is a cute stop for a coffee and a pastry. I love that you can pop in when you're in downtown Carmel or even if you are walking the Monon trail. This reminded us of a little store you'd see in a big city, as there is just enough standing room inside for whoever is ordering. I ordered an iced latte and a macaron, and both were great! I wish they had a larger variety on the pastries, but I might of shown up too late, as it was a Saturday around 11am. We were greated with friendly service and had a great customer experience.

A friend said that the chocolate chip cookies at Helen Coffee Shop were the best she'd ever tasted, so of course I had to try them. And now, friends, I'm here to tell you that the chocolate chip cookies at Helen Coffee Shop are the best that I've had around Indianapolis, so now you have two endorsements. Go and get you some Helen CCCs.Chocolate chip cookies are my thing. I don't throw the words "best" and "chocolate chip cookies" around haphazardly. No, these are the best, and they're what you want in a cookie. If you're lucky to get them right out of the oven like I was the first time I visited, then you're in for a treat because the cookie is just slightly underdone in the inside, but also slightly crispy on the outside. The texture is amazing, and like any great cookie, they're homely as all heck. When it comes to baked goods, sometimes the ugly things are the tastiest things. The first time I visited Helen, I bought three cookies, with the intention of eating one and giving one to each of my children. But they never made it home to my kids, because I ate all three myself. Totally worth it; I regret nothing.I'm fixated on the chocolate chip cookies here, but I've also eaten their lemon bars (amazing), chocolate croissants (wonderful) and have had many an Americano (perfectly roasted). The baked goods available changes each day, but it seems like they consistently have cookies and macarons available.When you visit, you'll need to make plans to get your stuff and GTFO, because Helen Coffee Shop is a tiny walk-up. There are no tables, and there is barely room for two people to stand inside and order. It's a little comical how small this shop is, but it feels very European and chic, or like you're in a Jean-Pierre Jeunet film. Fortunately, Helen is located in downtown Carmel, right near the Monon Trail, so there are lots of places to sit just steps away outdoors (including tables and lounge chairs) where you can enjoy your food and drink.

Nice little place near the Monon Trail in Carmel. Wife and I tried it this morning. Coffee was good and the banana bread was very good. Small shop where you order and go but there is plenty of tables outside along the Monon to sit and enjoy. The woman behind the counter was very friendly as well.

It took me 3 visits to finally order macaroons and coffee at Helen (just because my timings never matched with that of Helen). Be aware this is the tiniest shop I have ever seen in Indy (just cause Indy isn't New York but ok). But apart from size, the macarons are the best I tasted. Fresh, light and delightful taste - the blueberry macaroon just was WOW! A tiny hint of blueberry goodness in the macaroon was just so right! The coffee tasted so delicious and though I didn't get the name of the coffee beans or roast, getting a great coffee at 2pm is a delight. Sheer delight. There's no place to sit inside and eat but definitely with good weather today I had a great time sitting outside where there's a lot of seating in Carmel downtown and enjoy my coffee and macaroon. Bonus: I got tempted and ordered a brownie, the size both just didn't disappoint. This place is a keeper y'all!

If you find yourself in Carmel in need of a snack or beverage, this is a must stop! The former Luxury Cakes got a new name and new location! Owner Sandra said she named her new shop after her grannie that taught her to bake. She serves delicious coffee with many speciality drink selections. She has a rotating dessert menu with various flavors of macaroons, chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodles, brownies, rice krispy treats, and many more delicious things. She makes cakes and other treats for special order. The shop is really small and just room for you to step inside to place your order. She is working on getting a pickup window. The location is super convenient for a post walk treat or coffee to take on the go. I give this my highest recommendation!!

Food- Snagged a couple drinks both iced lattes but one with honey. Was a little odd, both of them tasted like chocolate milk or a mocha I couldn't tell. Either way the drink wasn't what I ordered. I would have lowered the rating but the lady inside was so sweet and personable and those things matter!
