What an absolutely fascinating place! If you've ever been to Other World in Columbus, OH, Heeler is a spiritual cousin to it. From what I understood in talking with the bar tender, the creators of Heeler had some involvement in Other World. So the similarities aren't just superficial.It's hard to describe what Heeler is exactly. It's a music venue, and my band has played there. But it's also a bar in the back (under 21s are allowed in areas outside the bar). But it's also an art installation. The bar is fairly bare bones with canned beer, sodas, and potato chips in single-serve bags, etc. You really come to Heeler for the ambiance. It's more of an experience than a destination.

I really enjoy what Healer has brought to indianapolis the last few years with some great underground rock shows. The atmosphere is a bit like an art co-op. My favorite is the Jimmy swaggert installation.

Nothing could've prepared me for whatever this place is. Find a show and go if you're into strange, hip, avant-garde shenanigans. It's a full on Art exhibit and music venue and also a bar???? It's in a strip mall... But don't let that fool you. Find a night with musical genre you like and lay in one of the small exhibit rooms. If you want something unique? This is certainly that.
