Harold's Chicken Shack - Indianapolis

I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois so I am very familiar with Harold's Chicken restaurants. This Harold's Chicken location is not good at all‼ Let's start with the lobby area to the food last. The floor in the lobby area was extremely dirty and sticky (video provided), the "No waiting in the lobby signs" are all over the lobby area. The cashier/cook said, "Those signs have been up since COVID, you can wait in the lobby or in your car and come back in 15 minutes." I waited in the lobby area and took some pictures. The price list for the food is blacked out, there were food crumbs along the counter but you can not dine in, there was a big box in the corner that had a waste tank for camping, the fries were old and cold, I asked for a 4 wing dinner fried hard with salt and pepper with sauce on the side. The chicken was previously fried and he fried it again in old grease and taste like pork skins, salt pork or bacon. I really couldn't tell which one but it might have been a combination of all flavors. The $7.50 that I spent for a 4 wing dinner was a waste of my money and time. I give them 1 star and that's for the picture of Barack Obama on the wall. I should have known that the food was not going to be good since they were basically inside/attached to a gas station ‍ but hey I saw a Harold's and got excited since it's a spot from back home. I do not recommend Harold's Chicken #22 I told the cashier that I do reviews for restaurants and he said, Please Do One‼ The chicken recipe is wrong but the sauce was right.

Seeing people say they haven't dined in here is amusing as this isn't much of a sit down and eat kind of establishment to me. If i have to order my food through a plexiglass glass window with a cut out speaker i need to take my food to go & enjoy it elsewhere. It's attached to a gas station and parking although private fills up quickly. I do not like mild sauce at alll . I ordered it right on the side thank God because they give you plenty if you get it on top! They do have other sauce flavors! The wings are seasoned well & perfectly crispy . Every bite is good! Their fries are crispy & flavorful. They offer lunch specials with #'d wing and tender pieces, desserts, other sides. I also tried the fried macaroni which i thought was okay just a bit over cooked. I really need for them to get a closed container instead of boats for to-go orders. their bag & boats can't handle the weight of the food, steam & sauce if you have any leftover & during transportation. my bag was ripping apart.

I haven't actually been to this restaurant, but I haveeaten here several times via takeout thanks to a coworker. Each time I've gotten chicken wings with the sauce on the side. My coworker suggested getting on the sauce on the side because they can drench it. The sauce makes the wings. They give you a large portion of fries. I flip between the 2 and 4 piece. She likes their shrimp. It's best to call in ahead.

Why come we can't get consistency! One you need to clean up in the inside...presentation is everything. Get a storage room! Two- you will never get a chance to give me cold, old, reheated chicken. Chicken just black on the inside I have never seen such a disgrace like this in my life from any restaurant. How is the health department letting this business get away with this!!! I'm so embarrassed...this is not representing my hometown! Owners probably know nothing about Chicago....trust n believe!!!

Nestled away right next to a gas station this place is pretty much a carry out joint. This restaurant is not in the best area of the city. They have a small dining area, but it is pretty tight. The chicken is pretty good, but as many have said before me, save some time and call your order in. They do have lunch specials and some intriguing desert choices like toffee grapes. Food here is reasonably priced. I got two lunches for under $10 (what can I say, I like my food). Parking is also limited there as the small lot is shared with the gas station. All in all the fried chicken is pretty good and a 3.5 rating would be more accurate, but I opted to round down.

I called my order in and was advised 20-25 mins. It wasn't ready when I got there.... now I've heard they were slow so call in your order. Not sure why they move so slow. I ordered the chicken and perch combo and it was $14.0 and some change. I asked for mild sauce on it and hot sauce on the side... no matter how slow they are the recipe is the same so the food was seasoned well with no issues. My food was pipping hot and fresh. I would have preferred a little more sauce on my food but overall it was good. My chicken wings were very crunchy and my perch was fried (soft) crunchy. I would have preferred it to be cooked a little bit longer. From a business operations position. I feel like they need to implement a better way to service so orders can be processed timely and a bit more organized. Would I order again yes.. but not a place to order from on a regular rotation.

Straight off the highway right on the corner of 38 in Lafayette very convenient is connected to the gas station gas Limited parking you have to make your own parking spot Good takeout chicken and fries cheddar jalapeño poppers are pretty tender and broccoli cheese bites have bacon and it doesn't tell u and I don't eat pork so I went in there and told them and still got charged for a replacement mac & cheese bites which are pretty good in their sauce is so good definitely get the sauce sauce sauce sauce Hot or mild sauce

Sad to say, this business did not last as long as its long awaited opening! The quality/taste of food deteriorated and the open for business hours have declined as well! You are gambling on them being open each to you go to the location. They didn't reopen the cooking area for viewing and were still serving food from the side door. The last order of wings I purchased seemed old/previously cooked, even after waiting 45 minutes for my order. I'd had high hopes for my hometown famous food but it turned out to be a real disappointed

I would give it a 0 cuz that's what it really deserves. Order a half dark chicken and fries. It took longer than any 25-30 minutes. Had to listen to the dude in the kitchen cussin on his phone conversation. When my order was finally did, no wonder it took so long. It looked like they cooked an ostridge or some humongous bird. The chicken was too big that it didn't look right and the fries was soggy, not crispy. Plus the place looks ran down over time since its opened. Will NOT be back.

The chicken is so good. So are the livers. This food is great it reminds me of Chicago Harold's
