I love living here. Cameron is a fantastic property manager. Clean and affordable. The only issue is thin walls! So be careful who yoir neighbor is!

I lived here for 3 years during school. It's a very short commute (walking/biking distance) to IUPUI and downtown. The industrial look throughout the complex was my favorite part. Also, Cameron and the maintenance guy (I forget his name) are great! They are very helpful and responsive.

I've lived here for one year with one of my best friends, and I have had a good experience while being here! The maintenance staff here is amazing! They take care of issues within a day and are always so genuinely friendly. The gym is very convenient as well. I have not seen any pest issues while living here also, which is a huge plus. Now onto parking- they only allow residents to park within the big sliding gate. I LOVE that the parking lot is secured after hours, but I definitely think there needs to be more visitor parking for the amount of residents that live here. They have a private towing company that tows cars that do not have a resident parking pass that are parked within the private lot. I do not recommend risking letting a visitor park in the resident lot. Overall, if you're looking for a nice place to live that's super close to downtown Indy, you've found a good one!

I was unsure at first about moving here. It's my first place out from my parents' and I live with my twin sis! We loved the style of the lofts and have had friends live here in the past. I can honestly say that besides the unbearable noisy neighbors at times, the safety I feel here is unbeatable. The staff here is also awesome and there to help you!

I have lived here for 6 months now and have really enjoyed it! LOVE the industrial feel it being an old factory converted to loft space. Very unique! I love the short distance from the apartment to downtown Indy! A quick 5 min Uber to all the bars, yet offset enough to not have a lot of foot traffic or busyness directly outside my apartment. I appreciate the gate ensuring my safety and the safety of vehicle! However, it's quite hard to have friends over in the evenings or weekends as the visitor parking spots are VERY limited (maybe 10?) and they fill quickly. Visitors have the options of paying $5 to park inside the gate overnight however this can be a hassle dealing with the app and such. Great management. Great maintenance staff as well, very prompt. No dogs no matter the size (besides service dogs) however, which is a bummer.

Pros: Location, price, amenities, this place has got CHARACTER :)Cons: Noise, sawdust from ceilings, high management turnover My Story:I've lived at HSL for almost two years now in a two bed/two bath and I'm planning to move into a one bed at the end of July for my third year here. I haven't had too many noise issues, but my room is on the top floor and on the NW corner of the building, so I have two outside wall, my roommate and our common area bordering my room (I'm a little spoiled, probably). If you can swing the 4th floor, it is a little quieter and the rain on the roof is so relaxing. The exposed brick, concrete floors and original 12-14ft wood ceiling are great as well (except that in high wind when the building shakes, there will occasionally be saw dust from the ceiling). The appliances are still relatively new and while only of middling quality, they work well. Whenever I've had issues (clogged drain, leaky faucet... nothing major) service has always been very quick and professional. They've also let us modify the apartment a bit, which was nice; we added a black steel pipe (same as the exposed sprinkler pipes) from a wall to a wood pillar to hang our pots and pans on in the kitchen. The tenant before us also added a light switch and a ceiling box, to which I added some home-made lights. All in all, I'm very pleased with HSL, they've been good to us/me despite the high management turnover rate and compared to other places downtown, it's very competitive, if not the best.

I moved in about a week after they opened, and I really love it. I moved to Indy from San Diego, and I really wanted to be downtown/Mass Ave, etc. Unfortunately, after looking at 14 places in a single day, the only places I kinda sorta liked on my househunting trip were all up north (not that there's anything wrong with that, Carmel soon-to-be pals... It's just a long commute and I am more of a city girl after 10 years in NYC/Boston). Just before I got in my rental to head back west, I checked Craigslist and saw the listing for Harding Street Lofts. It was on my way to the airport, so I stopped by, and promptly fell in serious like. After looking at the four remaining apartments, I immediately put down a deposit, hopped back in my rental and headed back to pack up my life in San Diego.HSL is in a former factory, and the apartments have the classic loft-style high ceilings and exposed beams. They have real partitions, though, so a two bedroom has doors and walls and a feeling of privacy, which I like a lot better than the giant, cavernous spaces I've seen in other oft apartments. They have full size washer/dryers, too, which is a big plus. My favorite thing, though, is the outdoor space: one cute little courtyard with tables and chairs, and a bigger courtyard with a outdoor tv, bocce court, fire pit and a couple of grills for the community to use. The building management has also been awesome so far: really friendly and responsive. The only con is really the neighborhood, if you're looking for someplace within an easy stroll to bars/restaurants. It's "downtown close" (a half a mile west of the zoo), but not quite downtown. It's a converted factory, so the area is industrial... right across the street from IndyGo, and close enough to the train tracks to hear the whistles of the freight trains passing by (soothing if you're a hobo). But it's really easy to get anywhere from HSL: five minutes to downtown/ Mass Ave, ten to Fountain Square, ten to the airport. It's a great place to live!

Pros: It is nice to have a washer and dryer in unit. Packages delivered to your apartment. Cons: VERY THIN WALLS. Do not recommend if you are a graduate student, medical/dental student, or working professional who wants a quiet environment. The apartment complex mainly has undergrad students from IUPUI who yell and play loud music at all hours. If you want a quiet place to be productive/study/get good rest, this is not the place for you. Be prepared to sleep with headphones on. Also, sawdust falls from the ceiling.

Pros: Love the look of my apartment and the maintenance staff is wonderful. Cons:So loud! The walls are paper thin and since floors are concrete there is no cushion when walking around and I could hear my upstairs neighbors walking around and every time they dropped something. Also, if you love the sound of trains all through the night, then this is the place for you. If not, avoid living here. Three different tracks run near the apartment and you can hear them at random times. The saw dust was also bad. My allergies would randomly flare up because there would be sawdust all over my stuff.

Absolutely move here! I just moved away from here after 2 years and I couldn't recommend a better place to live. Cameron, the property manager, is a true delight, attentive, and is just one of a kind. Tim, head of maintenance, is efficient and does his job with ease and timeliness. The entire building is full of history and is something you will not find anywhere else in downtown Indianapolis. The only con would be that the walls are quite thin and there is a train that passes by often, but it never bothered me since I like sound and honestly after a while you simply tune it out. Perfect place for plant parents also ;)
