Hanks Smoked Briskets

Never a dull moment in this place and the food never misses! Service with a smile, best brisket in Indianapolis! Been coming for years and will continue to!

I am continuing my BBQ tour of Indianapolis and today was the day I tried Hank's Smoked Briskets. This is a hole in the wall and carry-out. There are no tables inside.I walked in and was greeted with a friendly "hello". Then I told the lady that I had traveled all the way from Alabama to try the brisket. Her face lit up and she brought out everybody to meet me including Hank! They followed it up by giving me a sample of brisket and corned beef. Both were juicy and delicious. I had already made my mind up about brisket but I would recommend the corned beef too!I chose the brisket plate as it came with a brisket sandwich and 2 sides. I chose potato salad and Mac and cheese. I also requested more sauce and they happily gave me a 4 oz container of sauce.The brisket was tender, juicy, and fresh! It mixed well with the slightly sweet, all smoky, and mild peppery sauce.I enjoyed the potato salad as much as I did the brisket! The potato salad was far superior to the mac and cheese. I loved the creaminess and the tanginess of the mustard and dill. The mac and cheese was solid though.It's a hole in the wall with nowhere to sit. But you will not regret picking up some brisket and potato salad from Hank's!

Service was quick. We called to order our food and it was ready by the time we pulled up to get it. The have a pickup window but there are not places to sit down inside: they have a parking lot outside of the building for customers. The food was ok. The meat seemed boiled. The sides are smaller than expected. Overall, it was great to have some bbq with the family that we could take home. I'm pretty neutral about the taste of the food. Customer service was great and everyone was super nice

Hanks is always good, I suggest sticking to their baked potatoes. The brisket potato is fire every single time. I've tried their ribs and sides I wasn't the biggest fan of them but the bbq sauce is so good. The apple pie and peach cobbler are really good but it's a little too much crust and not enough fruit for me. One thing about them is they're going to treat you with respect if you treat them with respect.

Hank the owner and the staff are amazing... The brisket ( five star) , ribs, corned beef, pulled pork and pork loins, stuffed potatoes and awesome side dishes! Mac and cheese, collards, beans and potato salad, cold slaw, latkes and a great assortment of pies

I carried out from Hanks Smoked Brisket today. I used to frequent this place when I worked at Methodist Hospital and missed it. Good news is, the quality of the food or the congeniality of Hank has not diminished. I got the smoked beef brisket sandwich - a hearty portion of brisket with good smoke flavor and very tender served on a bun. I chose to get the sauce on the side so I could savor the taste of the brisket. Probably the best smoked brisket north of Hank's home state of Texas. One day I'll have to try his corned beef but the brisket is so good it's hard not to order that. Thx Hank keep serving that delicious food !!

The best BBQ and sauce that I've had in Indianapolis!Stopped by after work. Reasonably quick service, fair prices.No dining area. I will be back.

We wanted some good barbecue on our way home from a road trip and were passing through Indianapolis. We saw Hanks on Yelp, and decided since it was only a few minutes off course we'd stop. It's kinda hood but was busy so we were feeling optimistic. My husband got the brisket dinner and I got rib tips. We both did baked beans and Mac n cheese. The baked beans tasted like Bush's jazzed up, and I'm not complaining. The mac was delish. The ribs were fatty, but I still am not complaining. We loved everything. Now I'm not going to take a star off, but they need some saran wrap between the tops of the sides containers and the food. 2 of the sides were stacked in the bag, and I had to pick shattered plastic out of the top of my mac. Not cool or appetizing.Lastly that cobbler, baby? It is delicious. It is buttery and rich and delicious. I'd roll back through if we're in Indy again.

I moved to Indianapolis in 2007, and quickly became acquainted with the best bbq in the city'. I've since moved to suburbia but always make it a point to stopby and see Hank and have the best brisket inside of 465. Recommend to all.

I got a rib dinner Thursday, January 16, 2025. It was horrible. The 4 ribs i received were the length of my palm with little meat. It wasn't tough but extremely small. Mac and cheese was red from paprika but ok. But the green beans...no. When I opened the container I thought they put gravy on my green beans!! The potatoes had turned to mush and the green beans were mushy, too. It was so mushy like baby food. I have gotten meals in the past that were good. I think the food was old. My stomach started hurting last night and I have been sick all day today. Plus, it cost me $16.00. I was so happy I finally caught them open and stopped to get some food. Won't be going back.
