This was my first time to the almost new, pure vegetarian, food cooked in ghee, restaurant on the Southside. The atmosphere is welcoming and I was greeted right away. There was a very small wait till my turn came. Chhole Bhature was an already decided on and for second choice combo thali was recommended by the employee. In my opinion;Chhole Bhature - not impressed at all. Bhature didn't have enough fermentation and very over fried (see how red they look in pic). For Chhole, taste could have been more bold. Glad to see raita and onions on the side with it. Combo thali- choose this if you are sharing it. Otherwise too much food for one person or make 2 meals out of it. I had picked dal makhani, mix veg, saag and butter naan from the options. Dal makhani was pretty good although I was expecting more of dhaba style taste, don't know why. Mix veg tasted like home cooked sabzi. So neither good neither wow. Saag was perfection to me. (Leftover saag tasted even better haha)Butter naan - loved how it was soft yet crispy and that it didn't get chewy when it got cold. Loved the raita, jeera rice was well cooked, quantity of salad and achar was delicious. Dessert- got Gulab Jamun which was freezing cold and hard as rock. Tasted a tiny bit and that was that. All in all- it was a hit and miss experience. But I would to give them second chance

Came here today after seeing the store in passing for a few weeks. Great Indiana Street Food! We had the Pani Puri, samosas, Kulche and the thali of the day which consisted of a a choice of dal, sag, and naan. I loved how they divided their menu into both northern and southern cuisine. The service was great and quick and the food delicious. Can't wait to come back!

Felt like an Indian cafe of sorts! Guruji food just opened a few days ago and had tons of different vegetarian food options from North to South Indian, chaat, sweets, etc you'll never get tired of eating here! I ordered the thali and I have to say it was the biggest thali I have ever had - perfect meal to split between 2 or have leftovers for the next day! For those unsure of what a thali is you get your choice of 1 of 3 dals, 1 of 3 breads/rotis, 1 of 3 subjis, yogurt (Dahi), Indian pickle, salad and rice! I got the saag, dal tadka, and tawa roti! All were decent options, but I think the Indian style yogurt was my favorite (I always loved the light contrast with the heavy food)! If you like spicy food I would ask about the spice level up front because I forgot and it was at a mild spice. I also typically like my dal tadka less runny and more thick than this one but that is personal preference - still had great flavor! My mom got the samosa chaat with onions, tomatoes, chole (chickpea curry) on top and it was great as always and very filling! The sweets up front were great! I tried the pineapple burfi which I have never had and it was very moist and flavorful - I usually don't like sweets but this was refreshing! Furthermore, the staff was incredibly kind and helpful in answering any questions if unsure about the food options! Also, there is table seating available inside and the place itself was very clean! Overall, if you are missing Indian street food or curious to explore the world of Indian food then this might be your place to get a taste of just about everything!!

This restaurant is new to the South side and in the strip mall at Emerson and County Line near Brozinni's. They offer Indian street food, sweets and snacks. You order at the counter and the food is brought out. It felt like fast casual.I ordered a combo meal, which consisted of kabuli chana, aloo gobi, shahi paneer, and garlic naan, upgraded from plain naan for $1 more. There was a mixup after placing my order, and it started later. The person behind the counter apologized and offered a free mango lassi for my trouble. I chalk it up to still getting the kinks out for being new. When my food arrived it was hot and tasty. I liked all three dishes and the garlic naan was slightly crispier than at other places I've tried. The food is served in paper cups and with plastic utensils to add to the casual atmosphere. I asked for a paper plate in order to mix the food. The food also included rice and a small treat. In fact, there was so much food I took more than half of it home.As best I can tell, all the dishes were vegetarian. I did not recognize most of the names. It may be from a different region of India to what I am accustomed. It's definitely good value for the money and I look forward to trying different options. Please note: I went on a Monday and they have fewer options for Dosa on that day.

Traditional street food style Indian spot. Very accommodating staff. Lots of combo meal options and individual small plates. Great selection of house made sauces and condiments, too.

There were so many good options we had a hard time choosing. The filled dosas, dumpling dish with a side of lentil soup, paneer pakora, and garlic naan with a chili paneer dipping sauce were particularly good. A couple dishes were off the mark in terms of the heat level, but everything was fresh and well prepared. Too bad we live on the north side, but we'll make it a point to come back again.
