Grindstone on the Monon

We recently got take out from here and had amazing service. We were driving in from out of town and it was raining, windy, and basically a storm. We called in our order and pulled up to pick up a large order for two families, one ordered drinks so it was impossible for my husband to carry everything to the car. One of the staff helped him carry the drinks he couldn't hold and came outside with him despite the literal storm happening outside. The place was super busy and we were soImpressed with the service! The food was good! The kids ate their chicken tenders and mac and cheese so fast. We will definitely go back next time we are in town.

Went on a Friday night during Devour Indy... it was busy, but we had reservations at 6:30. We waited for a table for 30 minutes, and watched them seat several other parties who walked in after us. Not off to a great start. We ordered fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. Those were decent, but quite bread-heavy and didn't offer a lot of flavor outside the sauce. My entree was the meatloaf... cinnamon syrup of some sort on meatloaf wasn't something I was expecting, but it wasn't bad either. This came with potatoes and green beans - the green beans were the best thing on the plate. My fiancé ordered the steak tacos and enjoyed them, but they weren't really anything to write home about. We also got two drinks - a Paloma and a blackberry jalapeño margarita. The margarita was rather spicy compared to other spicy margs I've had, but tasty. For dessert we ordered the turtle cheesecake. It was good, but again, not super outstanding. While the food itself ranged from mediocre to good, the cadence it was brought out was quicker than expected, which was nice given how hungry we were. We waited maybe ten minutes for our appetizer and about 2 minutes after we finished that, our entrees came out. It's a little pricier than I think it's worth, but I'd probably go back... maybe not on a Friday night.

This is our go-to for good reason - the salmon salad is outrageously excellent! How can you argue with grilled asparagus, flaky blackened fish and a freshly-cut slice of zucchini bread, and feel like a health nut while eating it? Calories saved which I usually burn up with a glass of red from their nice wine selection. It can get a bit loud due to the size of the restaurant but we've never struggled with the conversation. Service is usually spot-on. Great job, Clancy's Hospitality! (I promise I'm not affiliated with them :)

Been here a couple of time and never been disappointed. Today was no different. Except it was even better. Hubs and I sat at the bar and had the great honor to meet Anna the bartender. She was attentive yet didn't hover, knowledgeable, gave perfect advice on menu items, and pleasant to talk to. The manager stopped by to check in, but not that "Doing okay? Good." and running off, kind of check in. He struck up an honest, natural conversation and was genuinely happy to have us. My Hoosier Hotplate, and Hubs' pork nachos, were D-Licious! It doesn't hurt they have a California AND New Zealand option for Sauvignon Blanc!! Seriously, if you're on the fence with this place just go. You will not be disappointed.

Big menu with a lot of different options it was hard to narrow down what to order! We started with the goat cheese bruschetta. I am not even a fan of goat cheese but wanted to see how it pairs with the tomatoes and balsamic. Good size appetizer, but I will warn it is messy! I would say the balsamic glaze was a bit too heavy and masked some of the freshness of the tomatoes and cheese. Overall I would still order it again for the table. For my main I ordered the fish tacos. The fish was very well seasoned with blackening season and was a bit on the hot side if you are sensitive to spice. The spice is counterbalanced with the bean mixture and cheese however. I would come back to try some of the other menu items!

We always wind up at Grindstone when we want a reliable, yummy meal close to our place in Westfield. I've eaten the chicken or salmon salad countless times and am happy every single time. Our server was friendly and made a good recommendation for my husband with the steak tacos. The restaurant was clean! It was pretty busy on a Sunday evening but not too loud or overwhelming.

We took a large group here for dinner mid week and had a nice time. It was very easy to get a reservation for a group of 20, which some local places can not handle. We had a very pleasant waitress ( I am awful at getting names) who did an amazing job keeping up with our needs. The restaurant is in a great location with beautiful views and walk out access to the Monon Trail. We tried the fried green tomatoes and poutine as appetizers. The tomatoes where good, even if we were caught off gaurd by the mix of Parmesan on top and Chipotle ranch as the dip. The group loved the poutine and needed up with a second order of it. The French onion soup was lovely, not too salty and a good tangy cheese, we just wished the bread had more presence.We tried the Jambalaya, Manhattan, cheesesteak, pork tenderloin and turkey burger. The Jambalaya left a fee of us wondering how it got there, it was very fishy and the pasta threw them for a loop (guess they didn't read the description).The Manhattan was ordered by 3 people and they loved it 5 stars. All and all the food was good and not to heavy but for the first time ever our dinner group did not get dessert.

They have meatloaf sliders here at Grindstone on the Monon! Honestly, that's why I visited. I'm a meatloaf sandwich fiend, and I'm always in pursuit of the next best meatloaf sandwich. So, if you're a restaurant and you have a meatloaf sandwich on your menu, you will most likely be seeing me at some point. The meatloaf sliders are OK. I think if there was some sort of sauce or gravy on the sandwich, it would have made it a lot better. The slider does come with crispy fried onion strings inside the sandwich, which were great. It just needed a little ... moistness? They offer three other sliders, one of which was a pickle brined fried chicken sandwich, which came with ranch dressing on the side. I really liked this slider a lot, but again, it needed some sort of sauce inside the sandwich. The sauce came on the side, and I dunked the slider into the sauce. Thank goodness for this side-sauce.The fries, though? The fries at Grindstone at the Monon are amazing. They serve the kind of fries that are my favorite fries: slightly breaded in texture, with a crispy bite but also chewy in some places. These are the type of fries that you can just munch on by themselves, ketchup be danged.Like the name suggests, Grindstone on the Monon is located right off of the Monon Trail in Westfield. So you can walk or bike here! There are places to lock up your bike outside near the parking lot. The restaurant itself is pretty big but feels intimate. I was wondering if I should have made a reservation before I visited on a weekend afternoon, but I was seated right away without a reservation. The restaurant has booth and table seating, but also a secluded-feeling bar area, with bar tables that face the TVs, which were showing sports. The service is fantastic, and the restrooms were spotless.

Wow! I can't believe this review has been sitting in my drafts! This is one of my favorite restaurants are the area. We have gone several times. I have tried a few different drinks and all are so tasty! I tend to get the same meal every time which is a wedge salad and the filet mignon sliders. They are so so so good! My husband loves the pork tenderloin. We've had their bread pudding dessert and several apps. Nothing has ever disappointed me with grindstone other than how busy they are, which of course is great for them! I've never had a huge wait at this location and it's close to 31 so it's easy to get to from any surrounding city! It's nice inside as well, upscale bar feel and dining area. I always recommend this restaurant because they have so many options and is great if you have many different tastes in your dinner party.

Went back to give them another try and i would say food was piping hot, presented well, and excellent customer service!
