I have been to a few rock shows in the Indy area, and so far this is my favorite! It's pretty big, has good prices, nice selections, and fun auctions/raffles. This year (it's 43rd!) it took place in two buildings, and one outdoor pavilion at the county fairgrounds. Entry and parking is free, and there is some food for sale in the main building. I went on Sunday, so got a few last minute deals. There were a couple big raffles, then some hourly prizes. The auction items were fairly small when I was there, but I swept up some nice crinoid calyxes and some mineral gift cards. There were several vendors I have seen before at other shows, and it seemed like they had a larger selection and bigger specimens here. One fellow had tons (not literally, but probably hundreds of lbs!) of boulder opal. There were also non-rock jewelry components and trinkets, but mostly rock vendors. If you haven't been to a rock show before, take your time and go around all the booths before you buy, to get a good price and favorite specimen. Cash is king of course, but a number of vendors take cards. I look forward to attending next September!
