The GASF is a fun little gem in sleepy Carmel, IN. It features rotating exhibits usually from Michael Feinstein's collection and is in a very small space. However, if you are intrigued by the Great American Songbook and classic cinema, this place is worth a visit. Try to contact them in advance and ask for a tour. Be sure to let them know your interests. Chris is incredibly knowledgeable about the collection and does a great job pointing out the most moving highlights in the collection. Check out the ground floor of the building, too, because there is typically a small exhibition of items from this collection, as well. My favorite piece in this collection is the cocktail napkin on which the lyrics to "I'll See You in My Dreams" were first penned. Among other things, you'll find holiday cards from Irving Berlin, Bob Hope's golf clubs, the Meredith Willson papers, and so much more.
