This is an adorable hotel in the heart of Bloomington. The Inn a a series of older homes converted into a hotel but the rooms have been well designed. Mine was spacious, had a private bath and a semi private patio. The inn is older but oh so charming.I loved sitting on the wrap around porch in rocking chairs and watching the student activity.Staff was very friendly and the breakfast was great! I highly recommend if staying in the area.

I wanted to love this place, but I did not. Pros: proximity to IU and downtown, preservation of original architecture and some furniture, new(ish) towels.Cons: cleanliness of room. Shower tiles need bleaching, window treatments are yellowing, spots on chairs, and sink is very slow draining. Loud air conditioner. Basic Inn service was not provided (taking out garbage and clearing coffee mugs, refreshing towels). No fridge. No microwave. This might sound mean, but the details lacked design taste. Sorry! (Zebra print shade on a chrome lamp). If I go back to Bloomington, I'd probably pay the extra $ and stay at The Graduate.

I absolutely loved this place. I almost hate to write this review so I continue to be able to get a room here on crowded weekends! The location is perfect. I could walk to everywhere and the place was comfortable. Breakfast every morning was very good. I was saying to my wife that, when I'm here, i kinda feel I'm part of a secret club (in a good way). All of the staff -- and the innkeeper, Dave, were very pleasant. We will be back again every time we visit. Very quaint! We loved it and highly recommend!

Great location. Nice, clean rooms. I wasn't able to take advantage of breakfast, but the set up looks like a buffet. My room was a bit quirky. The uneven floors (it IS an old house) and the crooked pictures and mirrors made me feel perpetually tipsy. The phone didn't work, so I walked next door when I needed a couple things. The AC unit was LOUD; I was glad that it was cool enough that I could shut it off and open the windows. Finally, it took a few minutes to figure out why there was a boat ladder tucked under the dresser.

I had a great experience here. The Inn is beautifully decorated. I felt that I had stepped into the early 1900's. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. Breakfast menu had quite a variety of items to choose from.Everything was delicious!Very quiet and relaxing neighborhood.

If tou want to stay in the most beautiful, friendly, comfortable hotel in Bloomington stay here. The staff are the Gold Standard hospitality and should be a model for everyone in this type of business. The room was great! Clean and cozy. The breakfast was to die for. Ruthie who served us breakfast was so joyfully it made my day. The first morning my friend can't have gluten asked her if breakfast was gluten free and Ruthie told no, and asked if she could fry him up some bacon and eggs which she promptly did. Day 2 I slept in past breakfast. They had stopped serving, I was 30 minutes past closing. I rushed in and Ruthie says " Jim I so glad you made it I was waiting for you so I could clean up." WOW! What place does this? One morning they had cherry preserves, i had never had them before. I k now shocking. I mentioned they were wonderful and Ruthie goes down to the kitchen and brings a me a jar and tells me to take it home. This place was so amazing I went out of our way on the drive back from Atlanta to San Diego just to go back through Bloomington so my wife could stay here with me. This place is EPIC!!

Very nice old B&B in the heart of Bloomington, within walkable distance from the university, Kirkwood avenue and the courthouse. Comfortable rooms, large bathrooms (with showers) and overall quiet (if you ignore the neighboring student houses). Breakfast is quite satisfying in a lovely and quiet room. Friendly staff. Yes, I'll go back.

I have stayed here a couple of time for Lotus Festival. The location is ideal for lotus, or probably any Bloomington activity. It's also easy walking distance to the campus. The hotel is advertised as a bed and breakfast, but it's really a standard hotel with a cafeteria style meal offered at breakfast. The meal offered is good for hotel fare. The rooms are Spartan and have some problems. Examples are smoke detectors that randomly alarm (a prior visit), gash in the wall (see pic), leaky shower faucet/low pressure and light switch that controls power to the refrigerator and multiple electrical outlets. I find the last especially annoying because there is no warning that, unless the switch is in the on position, half the outlets in the room do not function. A nice thing is that the hotel staff frequently put out cookies and fruit. Two of the buildings have a porch and chairs where it is nice to sit and eat Pizza Express late at night.

stopped in for a night on our little road trip and I think this is the best place I've ever stayed!!! they had cookies in the entryway and both people at the front desk were very friendly! there was a nice little balcony off my room and the furniture and architecture was lovely. in the morning we got a free breakfast which was very good and all for 120 dollars!!! I've stayed at the Hilton and the Hyatt regency and this one beats both of them!!

My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights. The location was very good, close to the IU campus and the downtown area. So good walkability. I think the hotel is missing the mark on several levels. When we checked in, the front desk folks were friendly, but not overly solicitous. We arrived before our room was ready, and they told us that we could not check in, but did not offer to allow us to leave our luggage behind the desk. When we ASKED they were fine with that, but just wondering why they wouldn't suggest it in the first place? On the backend, when we checked out, no one asked us how our stay was. I think that's pretty basic when you're in the hotel, business, right? The food was good, not great. I will never figure out why a bed-and-breakfast doesn't have DELICIOUS coffee? Their's was more like hot water, not robust. Get rid of the coffee in the room and serve GREAT coffee in the dining area! The rooms are dated, dings on the furniture and upholstery dark, but were overall very clean, except for the blinds, which had a lot of caked on dust. No ice bucket in the room. Would I stay here again,? Not sure. I just think they need to up their game.
