An underrated and unique place in Indianapolis! I love going in the winter to escape the cold and get a bit of that tropical feeling. You can spend 30 minutes in there or 3 hours, just depends on how much you look and read about the plants. Really cool!

This park continues to get better and better. Specifically the neighborhood is blossoming with new businesses. I know there are big plans on the horizon to redevelop the park, but in the meantime, I figure it's worth celebrating the wonderful summer, farmers market, the conservatory, the fact that there is a Indianapolis Public library on site, convenient bus stop locations and all of the fabulous new restaurants and bakeries that have come into the area, including Garfield Public House and Cafe Babette, to name a few. In the summer months you'll find concerts, movie screenings and more at this park. Any Indy treasure, for certain.

Garfield Park Conservatory is a hidden gem in Indianapolis, especially if you're looking for warmth and color in the winter. Right off of I-65, the conservatory is only $4/person entry. Free parking is available. The conservatory has regular tours by Master Gardeners. There is a small plant shop in the atrium. The most exciting plants to me are the ones producing fruit if you're lucky to go at the right time. I've seen bananas and cacao pods in addition to the year-round blooms from orchids, shrimp tails, hibiscus, etc. The conservatory has fish and snake displays. During Christmas, the conservatory has a train display. For more engagement in the community, consider following Garfield Park programming on social media to hear about the happenings (crafts, movies, art displays, farmers market).

A true Indy gem. Add this place to you bucket list. The conservatory is beautiful full of lush, green, and exotic plants and trees. At every turn is a new smell, feel, temperature but so stunning. The waterfall is pretty and the coy pond is so fun. Especially for the littles. Be sure to grab a pamphlet to search out all the plants. Admission is $4 a person and well worth the cost. Unfortunately the Sunken Gardens aren't planted in late April. I will definitely return to see the stunning outside as well.

What a great place! Inside, there are so many different varieties of plants. I met a volunteer who was so friendly! After I asked a question about one of the plants, she offered to show me around and pointed out some hidden gems. Since plants naturally position themselves to find the sunlight, the best finds were near the windows. There were beautiful flowers I would have missed! It's a rich, dense atmosphere of plants and I'd want to go back and walk around more times to catch all the varieties. They have events throughout the year and I caught the Orchid show this time. It was wonderful seeing the prize winning orchids. Very unique varieties. They had a small market of vendors selling orchids too. They had unique ones for sale that aren't easy to find in your average plant store. They were reasonably priced too.

I've enjoyed the conservatory and sunken gardens in Garfield Park. It's a pleasant place to spend some time, especially during the winter. They have a nice trail that you can follow to learn more about the plants. Check it out during the holiday season!

The conservatory is small, and we were there for only a half hour or so. I enjoyed my time there though. There was a Gnome Show going on with gnomes displayed around the garden. A scavenger hunt of the gnomes added to the fun. The conservatory is $6. There wasn't much to see right now at the sunken garden, which is free.

Someone said that this was one of their favorite spots in Indianapolis which prompted us to go check it out. I get the hype! It was a freezing/snowing cold day in February. My mom was visiting and would prefer to be in Florida or somewhere warm, so visiting the Conservatory was going to be our "next best thing to Florida". Wow! We were amazed by how beautiful (and hot) the greenhouse was. My mom loved seeing the fruit trees, cocoa pods, and the orchids. It was a magical place to visit in the dead of winter. I regretted wearing the wool sweater, so dress smartly when you go!We visited during an Indiana Hoosier Herpetological Society Show which was just an added bonus. I love that this space is collaborative and seeks opportunities to educate the public. Tip: Stop by Garfield brewing right after! You're in the neighborhood so you might as well!
