We just had my sons birthday party at the shelter here & oh my goodness when i say bees..... they were everywhere. It's getting pretty cold out too so i couldn't imagine what it's like when it's hot out. Bathrooms were disgusting too & no one at our party wanted to even use the bathrooms. Other than that the park was okay and that was our main reasoning for choosing here as the park is pretty big.

Greenwood has a reputation of having some awesome parks and this place is no exception. This park is huge. It has tons of free parking in its private lot. Freedom Springs Water Park is colocated here. This park also has more amenities then you can shake a stick at. It has two football/soccer fields, four tennis courts, two full basketball courts, a dog park (for members only), 2 covered pavilions with picnic tables and a grill, a lake, and a playground. There is spaces for days, hills that would make for some good sledding, and a very long run/hiking trail. The park is well maintained. The basketball courts are well constructed and has picnic tables on the baseline. The football/soccer fields are also well kept and has goal post on each end. The tennis court is cool, but it did not have nets up when I was there (which I hear are kind of important). They covered pavilion is nice. It has picnic tables and a grill and is available to rent. The park has one of the best running trails that I have seen in a park, covering about 1 and a half miles. It is smooth and mostly flat and pass around the parks nice scenic lake. The dog park is pretty big and has two large fenced in sections. You need to have a membership in order to use the dog park. The playground is actually two playgrounds; one for smaller kids and one for big kids. The equipment is very updated, modern and clean. The cherry on the top is that is has a centrally located rest room facility that is also very clean. The park is peaceful and serene. It is well off of the road. This is one of my favorite parks in the area.

I really liked the variety of activities available at this relatively new addition to the Greenwood Park system. There is a spacious parking lot that allows short walks to features you are most interested in. To the south is a dog park. It doesn't have all the fancy training equipment of some dog parks, but still has space for the pets to play. I believe season passes are required which require proof of shots for dogs before being allowed into the play area. There are paved hiking trails, disc golf, tennis courts, shelters with grills, playgrounds for both smaller and larger kids, and a large sledding hill serves as a backdrop. All the equipment appeared to be in great condition. Because the land is so flat, there have been a number of tree plantings, but they are far from mature enough to provide significant shade. And though not too far, placement of the shelter and playgrounds could have been placed closer to the parking for convenience in hauling food/kids.Overall, the park shows great promise as long as the community rec department continues to monitor and tweak the park.Review #815

Spacious park surrounding Freedom Springs, behind Greenwood Middle School. There's a big trail that winds around the park, with a pond on the south end and playing fields throughout the northern portion of the trail. There are shelters, basketball courts, and a restroom building right in the center. And of course you're just steps away from the Freedom Springs water park during the summer months, which is a separate charge while the rest of the park is free and open to the public. If you're a walker/runner and want a change of scenery, this is a great place to get a few laps in!

The kids and I were very impressed with this park. There's a little walk across a field from the parking lot, but it's not bad. The equipment is in perfect condition and there was no trash on the ground. We enjoyed that the climbs were very high in comparison to most parks. There is also a gigantic mound the kids enjoy climbing. Bathrooms are available, however no soap dispensers to wash hands. Bummer for such a nice park. Overall, we love it!

Not the best park around. No shade trees at all. Play ground equipment is way out in the middle of the field. The playground is nice though. It's big and has plenty of things to play on.
