wanted to update my previous review, i love this spot been coming since i was a child bringing my uncle his cigarettes when it was called Buds lol . Great service and bartenders, it's a little hood but this is one of thosespots that everyone comes to! there is no food here and when they do have it it's very wishy washy BUT they do not complain if you bring food from elsewhere which is what we do. pizza places deliver here so we do that often as well, like Pizzanos. my go to spot for whenever

I hate giving the Fat Cat a 3-star rating because I'm sure if I visited more often, my rating would rise. However, based on the couple of times I visited, the food was below average for bar food, and the service was slowish. We kept having to get the bartender's attention since she was chatting with another patron, and generally, I dislike calling/signaling a bartender. It feels rude. Definitely, a local neighborhood bar that I am sure is generally filled with regulars. Those that were there drinking were super friendly. With a large, irregular-shaped bar in the center with seating on all sides, both times, we quickly found an open bar stool. The bar has a laminate top with a medium-sized wooden rail. A box footrest rests under the diamond plate bar face. Numerous bar stools with back support and a padded seat surround the bar.

I stopped in this bar because I seen the bar sign that said Friday Catfish $7.75, they definitely didn't disappoint. The catfish was flavorful and fried perfectly, the mushrooms are almost all breading with the mushrooms themselves being really tiny. My fiancé said the quesadilla was just ok. We have never stayed for the actual night time bar scene and probably never will but I'll definitely always come for the fried catfish. An added bonus is the drinks are strong.

We were at the track and decided to Uber somewhere to grab some food and a drink. This place is a typical neighborhood bar so everyone knew that we weren't from there when we walked in. It was early afternoon, so there were only a few guys at the bar. The bartender was friendly. As the place started to fill up, it got a little more lively. Before we left, the locals were treating us like regulars. As far as food, we just had typical bar food finger food, but it was fine. Overall, it is a cool place to grab a drink.

This little gem is Indy Westside best secret. This used to be Bud' Tavern. My Dad frequented this place in the 70's and 70's. The windows facing Lafayette Road used to feature Go-Go boot wearing dancers. The original car is still there. Decent food, two pool tables, juke box, electronic darts. I love this place.

Fat Cat is a quaint neighborhood bar and grill. The set up is your typical bar with pool tables, dart boards, jukebox, a few old school video games, good food and reasonably priced drinks. The staff is friendly and I suspect that if you frequent the bar enough the will eventually know your name. Stay for a minute or sit for a while, this is one of my local favorites.

The only 5 Star Dive Bar in Indy, The Fat Cat, formally at 38th Street & Lafayette Road, on Indy's west side has relocated to 30th Street & Lafayette Road (formally Bud's Tavern). It has greatly improved that location.I've stopped in several times for lunch and a few beers. The food is good, the beer is cold, and the prices are very good. The patrons are friendly and interesting too. Lesley, the day bartender, is an incredible host and runs a good bar. If you like a laid-back, neighborhood, dive bar, then this is the place for you.

Came In from Columbus Ohio for the Indy 500 race. Stumbled onto this place. The outside is deceiving. It is nice an roomy in the inside. Very friendly people that are regulars. Drinks are reasonably priced. Drink prices were not raised up for the race. We got into town Thursday. Was at fat cat every night until we left town Monday. Everyone talked to us and was friendly. This place has the down home feel to it. Food is great also.
