Just go, seriously. Very authentic and fresh the papusa selection is deep and they have many other items as well but we went just for the papusas. Helps to speak a touch of Spanish but probably not necessary. Super nice and welcoming, quick and pretty inexpensive!

If you like El Salvadorian food you have to go to Pupuseria El Pulgarcito Restaurant#2 on Indy's East side!Everything I ordered was amazing: shrimp pupusas, chicken pupusas, chicken tamales, cheese pupusas, and guacamole with plantains! And almost each item runs you about $3 or less! My whole family devoured our meal! Not a crumb left!*Also: if you don't speak the language, pull out your phone to use Google or Siri to translate instead of writing a review on the language instead of the food.

My first visit here, mid-afternoon on a Saturday and the dining area is packed. Only a couple of empty tables. Also many people were coming in to pick up carry out, including some large orders. A popular place! The dining area has 6 booths and 3 tables. The kitchen area, which is partly visible, seems small-ish. Everything is cooked fresh, made to order. I quickly observed that there is no English posted in the restaurant, the only exception being the trash bin door which is embossed with "THANK YOU" in English. I went to the counter to place a carry out order and didn't see any menus, but the very friendly server produced one for me. And yes, there are some descriptions in English. Google Translate was not much help here. When I typed in a word that was on the menu, Google translated as "spankings." However, it seemed to be a type of dessert. So I abandoned Google Translate and instead asked the very nice server some questions. I ended up ordering some bean and cheese pupusas and plato tipico, which consisted of two sweet corn tamales, a large piece of cheese in some type of sour cream sauce, and beans. Everything was very good. I especially liked the papusas. They were filled with melted cheese and beans. The beans had a very savory flavor. I will be returning soon because I saw many things on the menu that I would like to try. Breakfast, seafood, tamales, pupusas, soups, salads, sides, desserts, and much more.

Love this place! It's very authentic! It's a little hole in the wall but it's so delicious. Parking is super easy to find. Only issue is the weekends... it's tends to be super busy on weekends! So make sure to call ahead to ask for the estimated wait time. They have cola champagne which is a staple of El Salvador!

We just got take out tonight, thought we would give the "new find" a try. We weren't disappointed. It was delicious even after the long drive home. We got cheese pupusas and fried platanos with their mashed beans. The pupusas were great and the cheese was melted to perfection. It was like pulling a super cheese ny pizza apart. The platanos were delicious, soft, and fried to perfection with a dallop of fresh Salvadorian cream. Top that off with their in house horchata or Atol. Next time we will be sitting in for sure. What a great find. Highly recommended.
