El Charro Mexican Restaurant & Seafood

Still the best tacos in the area. Their birria and carnitas are just fantastic. Also a special shout out to their pico de gallo (it has a kick!) and their guac. Their margaritas may be my favorite of anywhere. Full stop. They are genuinely hard to beat. I always look forward to coming here when I visit my hometown during the holiday season.

Close to perfect- huge portions, good service, great ambiance. Menu was so huge I had a hard time choosing. Fajitas brava were good, just missing jalapeños. The shrimp were huge, still shell on and a bit much work for me. Excellent flavor in the salsa. Very different style- more puréed pepper and tomato to the consistency of a sauce plus a chunky pico. Lots of heat in the salsa totally worked for a bit of heat on the fajitas. Menu was includes birria ramen, birria pizza, kids options, salads, and everything I have ever seen and n a Mexican restaurant menu. Margarita was good, just heavy on ice and super concentrated as a result. Love the martini style giant glass and the tajin salted rim. Service was on point and I never wanted for anything. Super Bowl Sunday and they had the game on all the TVs lots of seating options and a full bar, great for a crowd.

After hiking in Turkey Run, my group was starving and saw there were a ton of Mexican restaurants in Crawfordsville. El Charro caught my eye from the photos on Yelp - I loved the colorful restaurant decor! I ordered the cheese empanadas, which came with 3 HUGE empanadas, rice, beans, cojita cheese, and freshly sliced avocado. Our tables' food came out within 10 minutes (I was amazed). As hungry as I was, I couldn't finish the entire plate since the portion was so generous! The rest of my table also could not finish their plates. I suggest splitting a plate if you aren't that hungry. The quality of the food is not compromised by the quantity. I will definitely come back the next time I'm in the area!

My wife and I had dinner here after spending the day hiking at Turkey Run State Park. After checking out reviews for several Mexican restaurants in the area, my wife recommended we check this place out. It was a great choice!The food here is very good. My wife ordered a steak chimichanga. I had a combo with 2 steak tacos and a chicken quesadilla. My wife really liked her chimichanga. I thought the steak tacos were delicious, but the chicken quesadilla was just okay. The chips and salsa were also very good.The prices here are very reasonable, and you get a lot of food for the money (my combo included rice and beans, for example). Our waiter was very attentive, and our food came out quickly.

Have been here three times now and none of the visits have disappointed!!! I really love how the food is freshly made. The service is pretty decent too and they are frequently busy. Very friendly!I would visit here - I like it better than some of the other places in town.

Food and service was really good. It was different cuz the rice was inside the chimichanga. It was really good that way. My boyfriend had a steak chimichanga. He really liked his as well. Def worth a visit.

Really liked this place- I had the three tacos combo which came with rice and beans. One chicken taco, one carne asade, one al pastor. All very good, as well as the chips it came with. Service was fast and friendly, and prices were very reasonable. Would definitely eat here again.

I would give the food here 10 out of 10! Salsa was amazing and burritos full of flavor. Don't forget to get their amazing tres leches cake!

Food was over cooked . Lunch menu offers fajitas . When I asked for vegetarian they said only dinner menu. I agreed to that. Almost $17.Overcooked and 5 inch tortillas . Impossible to make a fajita . I ate a small amount and left the rest . We got there at 1 . At 130 they started sweeping the floors . I was concerned about the dust by our table . We finished and left. Won't be back .

Excellent service, food and beverages. Nice salsa and chips. Moved away 4 years ago. Will return again when I town. Danny and other servers were very efficient, friendly and attentive.
