As a wedding photographer, Deer Park Manor's space is unparalleled. From a beautiful, spacious house with a large suite for both the groom and the bride - to an extremely sweet staff ready to help you with whatever you need... this is one of the most intimate and serene event spaces I've shot at.All the photos we captured at Deer Park Manor turned out marvelously because of all the beautiful spaces that both the house and grounds allow for, and I can't compare any other photos I've taken this year to them because of how perfectly set the venue was, with luscious green backdrops and a balcony that gave the vibe of vintage French quarters!! My second shooter was able to capture the bride and groom's sparkler exit from that balcony as well (which the incredible venue coordinator, Lisa, informed us of), and we were able to get images that we never had before simply because there was no sight from above! I enjoyed everything from the food, to the grounds, to the staff, and would absolutely recommend this venue to anyone considering it!- Sinikka, Soul Creations Photography

We had our daughter's wedding at Deer Park Manor this past weekend. The park was mowed and raked. Some flowers were still in bloom. The chairs for the ceremony were where the needed to be! The reception area, bar space and dance area were just perfect. Lisa Walker the event area manager was the greatest. From the first visit a year ago, she was gracious and helpful. She was easy to communicate with as the date got closer. We hd so many questions! The week of, we met for one final meeting. Lisa went out of her way to offer her expertise and filled us in on different things we hadn't thought of- like how to rehearse the order for the rehearsal. We all knew the expectations and the rules and the weekend went off without a hitch! Thank you Lisa Walker for everthing you did, we couldn't have done it without you! Thank you Deer Park for the lovely facilities and employing those that keep the grounds and inside so special! My daughter and her now husband had the most special day!Taylors& Spencers!

I chose this venue for our wedding this past weekend. It looked lovely. I loved the outdoorsy-feel to it and the slightly different feel than a hotel ballroom. Sue was great to work with- and answered all of my questions in advance of the event. She recommended some vendors to work with, including KRC catering (whom we used).Everything was just fine, with the exception of the pool cover being left at the end of the pool, where I was supposed to have all of our appetizers and these really cool 8x10 black and white photos of family members' wedding photos. There was no way for the venue to remove the cover (which looked like risers) at the back of the pool room. Sue did the best she could to "cover" it up with black drape and white lights, but it still looked terrible to me. That is not how I pictured my wedding venue to look! We had to re-arrange the setup for that room with the caterer and my wedding coordinator to make it work. It was OK, but not what I had planned or wanted. The only other issue I had was the fact that I was told that we would not be responsible for moving furniture into or out of place, but then my guests at the end of the wedding, were asked to help move the furniture back into place! Normally I'd be OK with helping out, but I thought it was odd that my guests (who all drove down from Indy) were asked to carry large items of furniture without my permission. Overall, everyone had a wonderful time. The venue was cool and unique and my guests probably did not notice the "cover" at the back of the pool room. For those considering this as a possible wedding venue, just keep in mind the whole Do It Yourself (DIY) concept . . . it is great, just a lot of work needed!

The Good: The venue was excellent in appearance and feel, and the actual ceremony was lovely. The Bad: We choose a Sunday ( and Father's day ) wedding, and wound up feeling like we were looked down on for choosing the 'less expensive' option. We also had several issues over the course of getting everything together: 1. Our main contact, Sue, was hard to get a hold of, and without letting us know, wasn't available on the actual wedding day. Instead we had her second in command, who wasn't really that sure who we were, or what our plans were. 2. Two issues with the setup on the day, the aisle for procession was facing the wrong direction ( minor ), and the tables for our food were not set up. Because the tables weren't setup, the food wound up being in the reception corridor, so everyone had to shuttle back and forth. This also resulted in a folding table being set up on the dance floor for us to cut our cake ( since not everyone could fit in the reception hallway ) which then *collapsed* and tossed our wedding cake on the floor. Feel free to email me for pictures ... they're quite funny and horrible. 3. Sue called us two days before the wedding to ask if 'we could do the Saturday wedding couple a favor' and let them leave up a large tent next to our outdoor wedding site. That made us feel like terrible people for saying 'no, we'd like this once in a lifetime event to be the way we planned.' Sue called three times ( us twice, our parents once ) about this. Also got the hard sell to rent an upstairs apt 'for the wedding party' that we didn't want ... and felt cheap for saying no. The location is excellent, but I guess you have to be richer than us to get the royal treatment.

the place is called Deer Park Manor because it is located in the middle of a 42 acre conservation easement that is the natural home to deer, fox and other assorted small animals. The deer are free to roam in the surrounding neighborhoods but about 2 dozen are on the property at any one time. They mostly hide in the woods during the day, but they romp around the grounds in the early evening. It was magical to see them running on the beautiful grounds. our event went off without a hitch. Sue was great, as was the entire team. we had the pool covered with a floor for dancing and our guests dined under tents that were set up in the garden. It is almost certainly the nicest place to have a party in Bloomington, perhaps all of Southern Indiana.

I came here two days ago for my cousin's wedding. They have 3 main indoor rooms, air conditioning, and an outdoor area where a canopy was set up and tables placed underneath for seating. There is a courtyard out front with a fountain and a decent amount of parking for guests. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to get married in Bloomington.

Having our wedding at Deer Park Manor was a dream come true! I am so in love with that venue as it naturally makes for beautiful pictures. Not only is it beautiful, but Lisa Walker and the Deer Park staff are great to work with as well. We rented the venue for the weekend, and having that space to spend quality time with our family really made all the difference.

Just had our daughter's wedding at this venue, and it was beautiful! We had about 200 guests, had the ceremony in the circular courtyard and the reception under the large tent. We bought the weekend package with the penthouse, which was awesome, so the girls in the wedding party were able to stay in the penthouse on Friday night. The penthouse has a kitchen, living room and three large bedrooms each with a private bathroom so my daughter and son-in-law stayed on Saturday night, along with a few of their friends from the wedding party. We also had the rehearsal dinner and newlywed brunch at the same venue. At first we had some problems with contacting via the office number, but once Lisa gave us her personal cell number to call and text, it was fine. Overall, it was a beautiful venue, staff was great and we were very pleased!
