No frills local spot. It is awfully tiny and busy on weekend mornings so it can be hard to grab a spot. Definitely a place where the locals eat. Simple menu. Large portions. Friendly service.

Great little diner in Oxford. Named after the famous race horse, the restaurant has Dan Patch themed stuff on the walls. The day I visited the special was a chicken-fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy and peas. Maybe not health food, but mega comfort food. It really hit the spot, but, sadly, I was too full to try the homemade pie.Very friendly small town place that it is clear the locals really like. I was pleased to see they had small children's menus with smaller portions of things kids typically like at reduced prices. Cool. Oxford was the home of the race horse, Dan Patch. The horse broke world speed records at least 14 times in the early 1900s, finally setting the world's record for the fastest mile by a harness horse (1m:55s) during a time trial in 1906, a record that stood unmatched for 32 years. If you are lucky you may catch a glimpse of Dan Patch'e original barn on the edge of town with his world record time on the green roof in white shingles. Cool.If you are driving near Oxford on US 52 and feeling like a little something, you will be glad you stopped in at the Dan Patch Cafe!
