My husband & I chose the Prairie House as the Venue of our Reception Party. We were blown away by how accommodating the Conner Prairie Team was throughout the entire process. Dana, our "Wedding Planning Guru" was incredibly knowledgeable & helped guide us into creating a fantastic, unforgettable evening. The catering staff provided some of the best food we've had in a long time & the bartender, Chris was loved by all. Can't say enough about how seamless the process was & how happy we were to choose the Prairie House as our Wedding Reception Venue.

Coming for Symphony on the Prarie is always a blast, and now that I've been three times I feel confident in saying it's one of the best ways to celebrate warm weather and a love of music. There are several ways to plan a trip, so you can pick your favorite. The standard ticket prices are low, and allow you to make camp out on the grass. This is actually my favorite way to go with a group of people. Bring all of your picnic/tailgate stuff and enjoy an evening on the lawn with friends, family, and music. Conversely, if you want a table or chair provided for you, there's a small up charge, but it's great if you don't have or don't want to bring any blankets and furniture. Finally, the VIP tickets get you a seat right next to the stage with your own bathrooms and a bartender who will bring your drink orders to you. I did this just recently when I came solo, and it was an excellent experience to be right next to the stage and the music. No matter how you do it, you can't go wrong. Just go, you're going to have a blast.

One of my wives friends gave her a 10 pack of tickets for the concert series here and we have really enjoyed them. We bought a foldable wagon just for this venue. We load up a table, chairs, cooler and lots of other goodies into the wagon and pull it in. Gates open at 6:00 and the show starts at 8:00. Get here early to pick out a nice place. Tables can be reserved down close to the stage for an extra fee of course. Other options for your evening here include a special club at the top of the hill offering prestigious views, comfy seats and is called the sunset lounge. The concession stand offers up good stuff including plastic ware and plates in case you forget. I like the free stuff the sponsors of Conner prairie give out as you walk in. Usually Kroger hands out some kind of light up trinket that keeps kids ( and some adults) entertained. Well worth the time and the money! Come check out a show that fits your style because they get all kinds of music variety here.

An update from last year. Still 5 stars.Came here about a month ago to the Frank Sinatra Tribute and it was great. However, I came here tonight with my daughter for the Symphony on the Prairie's Music of Billy Joel and Elton John. Michael Cavanaugh and the ISO's performance blew us away. This was by far, the best Symphony on the Prairie performance that I've attended since moving to Indianapolis last summer.I think I might buy a block of tickets next season. Only a 30 minute drive from my house in BR and free parking at the event.A gem in Indiana!

This review is not about Conner Prairie's symphony or the actual "prairie" area where they take you back in time to churn butter; although both are pretty fabulous in their own rite. This review is for the wedding venue location(s) and awesome-ness that is their wedding staff! My sister hosted her wedding AND reception last year at CP for just over $10K total. Now, if anyone has ever gotten married or hosted a party with over 100 people, you know this is damn near impossible. So, that being said, CALLING ALL BRIDES AND GROOMS!! Check this out for your upcoming wedding ...even though Audra's wedding was in 2009, I have a feeling their prices have not gone up that much.My sister decided on a very popular summer weekend - Labor Day - to kick off her life into wedded bliss. She wanted to get married outdoors but have an awesome upscale/intimate indoor reception. Low and behold, after much research, my hubby recommended CP. I never thunk it! Once we discovered it, we never turned back. The wedding coordinator was happy to show us around the facility offering to do a tented reception in one of the many acres of green space inhabiting this gorgeous prairie, the red barn area (which is what my sister chose) and the pagoda area that is the most popular. Audra had her wedding outside the barn and she was presented from INSIDE the barn, through two large doors, as we all walked down the aisle. There was something breathtakingly romantic about it all. Once the wedding was complete, we went back into the barn, which was decorated with beautiful white Christmas lights, white table clothed tables, and offering a full open bar with bartenders for the cocktail hour. She also got a wide array of cheesy appetizers. The reception was actually in their sit-down restaurant, which they converted into a beautiful well decorated (though extremely simple - budget, people!!) reception venue....with two full walls full of windows, the ambiance was pure perfection. There was enough room for a dance floor and 150 guests comfortably. The outdoor area boasted a a beautiful patio where we could hear the Symphony playing their last show of the year and at the end of the night, a firework show was "on the house" b/c it was part of the show. It was romantic, well organized, beautiful and perfect for a unique wedding location in Indy.....offering an outdoor and indoor option with free parking and wonderful food, on what is to be considered a fairly tight budget, I would definitely recommend checking this out if you are in the market for something different in Indy! Also, GREAT location for engagement or wedding pictures....so much green space and some unique barns and old time areas that allow for some fabulous photo ops!

I am from California and was here in July for the Symphony on the Prarie. What a fabulous venue! I loved how clean and organized everything was. We brought our own food and tables and chairs and listened to the Indiana Symphony perform Broadway Showtunes. I just LOVED it! I can't wait to go again the next time I am in town!

Sold us tickets then turned us away because they oversold the show and parking lot was full. No police directing traffic so it was impossible to get there. 15 miles from our house and it took 3 hours and 15 minutes to get to the entrance only to be turned away. We left 2 1/2 hours early for a 15 mile drive. Won't be going back. They offered, via Facebook, exchange for tickets at a downtown theater, for some other show. I bought tickets to the show I wanted to see and I was turned away. I want a refund, not tickets to a shoe 25 miles away to a show I don't want to see. How can this be legal?
