This park is the definition of "just OK." It's a park, in that there's a playground, some picnic benches under a covered patio, open space, etc. But this is definitely not a destination park. If you're down the street and need a place for your children to play, then yes, Clermont Lions Club Park is a place to stop and stretch your legs. The playground has vintage playground equipment -- the metal kind that you and I grew up playing on. (Or at least I did. How old are you? You seem very young. Maybe you can't relate.) There's a geodesic dome, slides, a jungle gym and swings. There is grass all around the playground, and it's not really kept up and mowed, so the grass is ankle-height and itchy. There is no shade at all around the playground.Mostly, I think Clermont Lions Park is used as a voting location. There's a building on site. The park aspect of it is an afterthought. I did see a couple of people parked and just chillin' (or enjoying their lunch -- I couldn't tell). Overall, I just visited to see what was up with this park, and I left as soon as I could.

The park has three distinct parts: A camping area, a playground area, and an arena for hosting rodeos. The camping area has large shade trees and seemed well drained. (I am not a camper, so I don't know about how good the hookups are.) There are restrooms, some picnic tables, and a shelter on site, but I am not sure if the restrooms are functional all year long. The playground is a bit dated, but seemed in pretty good condition with swings, slides, and a fort type structure. The arena in the back was closed when I visited, but it has bleachers and is enclosed in an oval shape so that rodeo activities can be held and viewed. It's not your usual mix of functions for a park. It also serves as an area for Lions Club activities like fish fries.Review #2782
