Is the City-County Building itself a bit dated? Yes. It was built in the 60's and that's not going to change. BUT it is a centrally located, easily navigable hub. As mentioned in others' reviews, the public observation deck is a great lookout point to get your bearings in the city and explore some cool artifacts of Indy history. Many of the services offered from our local government can be accessed on the new city website: my.indy.gov. There is plenty of signage in the building letting you know this, so obviously save yourself a trip if you can. Otherwise reasons you might visit: to vote or to vote early (electronic and even easier this year!), marriage license, court hearing, jury duty, attend a City-Council meeting. Also of note for your planning purposes, the City Market is directly across the street and is a great place to grab lunch. The Original Farmer's Market happens right outside on Market St. every Wednesday in the warmer months. The Lugar Plaza just opened, so if you enter the building from Washington Street now, you're in for a real scenic treat with new public art pieces, swings, and more, with programming scheduled to begin in the spring. It completely transformed that entrance. As for rating the entire City of Indianapolis, that's pretty tough to consolidate into one review. However, when I think of all the beautiful parks and trails with innovative programming, booming restaurant scene, competitive sports teams, the legendary Indy 500, the award-winning international airport, interesting and photographable landmarks and historical sites, thriving art and music culture, fantastic shopping, and good ole Hoosier hospitality, the Circle City absolutely gets 5 stars from me. It's affordable, it's underrated, it's not pretentious, and like any good Midwest city, it's got all 4 seasons. I especially appreciate that Indy is a planned city, so navigating downtown is super easy.Is the city perfect? No. But what city is?! Indy is home. And that's perfect for me.

It looks very forboding, but in reality, it's very easy to get in and out. My review might be a little higher than others because I don't have to go through the security line (the guards will honor IDs from state employees as well as city employees).I have been able to get my marriage license and marriage certificates (separate visits) in under 15 minutes which is amazing.Marion County early voting here is also a breeze.

I'm not sure what else to say about the Death Star... except that it's intimidating, full of a variety of people, and there's almost always an ambulance outside.I work across the street and I do love the activity that the building brings. It employs a large number of our residents, so we gotta give it that, right?Try to get to one of the top floors for a stellar view for miles. The parking lot just northeast of the CC Building is free after 4pm and on weekends.

I've worked in the City-County building for a few months now. This is a building that reeks of institutionality to the point of being intimidating -- walking in and out of the place for even as long as I have, I still feel vaguely uneasy there.I guess I'm lucky in that I work on one of the upper floors, which offer a great view of the city. There's also an observation deck on the top floor that's open to the public. The architecture and decor is very 1960s office building.Great place to "people watch", though.... although I've never intentionally done so myself, sometimes riding the elevators daily can give offer you a little taste of it now and then, if you know what I mean. (Think of the theme from COPS).Plenty of parking is available in the lots immediately to the east of the building (i.e., across Alabama St.) and they're a good option if you're going to a Pacers game.-- basically empty after business hours.Worth checking out for the observation deck view, otherwise not the kind of place you'd really want to be visiting.

This review is on the building itself, as I believe a review for each individual office and the staff should be represented separately. First of all, if you ever have the opportunity, check out the observation deck on the 28th floor. Spectacular view and a floor hold a collection of interesting memorabilia. You can only get to it using the service elevator, which is marked as such, so follow the signs. Passing through a security checkpoint is required to get into this building. This is metal detector, body scan, empty all of your belongings on the conveyor belt security. Don't even take in your pocket knives, scissors, or whatever else you have because they will confiscate it or else you will have to hoof it back to your vehicle. That brings up parking. Being downtown, there is metered street parking, some garage parking on nearby blocks, and lot parking, Right now, due to a lot of construction, some of that parking is unavailable or inconsistent. That may change once the construction is completed. If you don't know where you're going, ask at the information desk. They give very clear, concise directions and often seem to know more than staff in the offices. If for any reason your business causes you to be detained for very long, there's a little canteen/convenience store on the first floor where you can find a bit of refreshment.

Let's hope you never have to come here for any reason. BUT, should you find yourself here you will find the building is easy to navigate. There are signs everywhere helping you get to your destination, and the staff was friendly enough to point me in the right direction. There are several pay parking lots across Alabama St., but I was able to find street parking.

It's actually a very easy building to get in to and move around. I always find street parking very close and today used mobile parking app to pay for parking.

Lots of parking around the City-County Building. The interior is very dated...at least I know tax payer money isn't being wasted on useless cosmetic updates. I have been here several times, most recently on a Saturday night to vote early (sandwiched between 2 brewery stops...because that's how I roll). Everyone was courteous, including my fellow voters. Could have been more signage or online info about which door to enter through, but that's a minor gripe.
