This is a nice updated playground with a splash pad located in the heart of Greenwood and with in less than a mile of other parks. It also has a covered pavilion with picnic tables and a grill that you can rent. I have been to a few kid birthday parties here. The playground equipment is very modern and well kept. There are swings, slides and jungle gyms. Most of the equipment is under some tarp shading. There are also park benches around the playground where parents can sit and watch the kiddos play. There is a small paved walking path around the park. I would not recommend it for the serious runner however, because you would be doing a lot of laps. The park also has a decent sized private parking lot and a well maintained basketball court. And if it could not get any better, they have a bathroom on site as well. What more could you want. Even though this park is available all year long, it is best during the summer.

We love visiting playgrounds and this one is great. If you have kids who are a range of ages--there aren't many betters options on the southside of Indy. The separate playgrounds for big kids and little kids is great. They also have parent & baby swings, which we love. The splash pad is great but gets crowded with bigger kids later. I would recommend going earlier in the day if you have littles.

I found this park when doing a google search for a splash park close by while my nephew was staying with me. Thank goodness I found it, because it was one of those rare (becoming not-so rare) 90 degree Indiana days. This park is fantastic! I LOVE that the two playground areas have large coverings to shade them during a hot day and it keeps the equipment from getting too hot and burning the kids. There are two separate playgrounds for different age groups. There is a separate area with swings. There are three kinds of swings and my favorite was the combined adult/baby swing. It allows the adult to swing in unison while facing the child. They also have handicapped swings. Then, they also have a splash pad with lots of different water things to play in/with. The only part I didn't like about this area was the water would shut off in different areas at different times. I wish the water stayed on at each area all the time. There was a covered "deck" area for the parents to hang out under while the kids played in the splash pad. There was also one picnic pavillion, a basketball court, restrooms, and a fairly big parking lot. It is located right off main street in the heart of Greenwood. Mrs. Curl's in not far away, which made for a nice treat on a hot day. This was the perfect get away from the heat!

City Center Park has fun things to do for all ages and abilities. What I most love are the swings: there are FOUR different kinds of swings. There are the regular swings, baby swings, tandem swings where an adult can sit facing a child and they can swing together, and chair swings. That's a lotta swings. There is also an awesome-looking splash pad. We visited the park during the off season, so the water was turned off. (I believe the splash pad is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day.)For young children (ages 2 to 5), there is playground equipment with little slides, balancing beam and steering wheel. You can get on and off this jungle gym either via the ramp or stairs. For older kids (5 to 12), there is an even larger jungle gym with a really tall slide, monkey bars, a bumpy bridge and more. There's a Little Free Library here, but when we peeked inside, it was pretty sparse. What else? There's a huge restroom here, as well as shaded picnic benches, tennis court and walking trail. There is also a rain garden with local plants and flowers, which is beautiful to see.

The City Center Park is a great playground area for children. It is located just a block south of Main Street between US 31 and Madison. You can tell it is well maintained and has a lot of great ideas built in. For instance, the playground areas (one for toddlers, one for older kids) are elevated and have padded squares underfoot that provide good traction and a soft cushion if a little one happens to tumble. The elevation allows the runoff water to go to good use by collecting in a couple rain gardens. The trails/walkways are all paved and even though I visited on a rainy day, the paths were puddle free. There are several seating areas for parents to stay close to the playgrounds without having to stand the entire time. There is also a permanent restroom and water fountain area, so no port-o-lets on site. Parking is located along the north side of the park and there seems to be plenty. In summer months, a splash garden is also available and tennis courts are fenced in to keep stray shots from traveling too far. Overall, I think it is a great addition to the local parks in Greenwood.Review #504

My wife and I took our daughter here for the first time today and she absolutely loved it! She loved the splash pad the most! That's where she spent most of her time while at this park. This park has a lot to offer. It has a splash pad, two playgrounds (one for 2-5 yrs; one for 5-12 yrs), swing set, full size basketball court, and a walking trail. They also provide restrooms. We loved this place because our daughter had fun and hey, IT'S FREE! Who wouldn't love free entertainment for their kids?!

Beautiful hidden gem in Greenwood. I've driven right past this area on Main Street probably a hundred times and never knew there was a park back there until my wife was looking for a park to take our son. He's still a little too small to enjoy the play areas, but they've got a couple of swings where you can actually swing with your child (you sit on one side and they sit across from you) which was PERFECT for our little guy. And the splash park was perfect - the water features vary every time it turns on, so you'll get a slightly different experience every few minutes. Keeps the kids a bit more active while they figure out what happens next.

I have a very dear spot reviewing this park. Even if I have been here only once, it left quite the impression! It's a well known park but it seemed like one of Greenwood's secret gems. When we arrived, there were parents actually playing with and watching their kids. (Safety! Who woulda thought?! *sarcasm*) Anyway, parking is close but far back enough kids are safe from the parking lot. When you first arrive you'll see a shared library hut. (Take a book leave a book guidelines) SO COOL! I've only heard about them, so I was overly excited to see this. They had a bathroom too, in an actual building! There's five main sections: splash park, music area, age group 2-5, age group 5-12, and swings. I even had fun playing with my stepdaughter! My boyfriend joked that they should make an adult sized section, but that's actually not a bad idea. I'm not use to such a nice community yet but I'm glad I can feel comfortable taking her somewhere so clean and wonderful in Greenwood. This is your typical Yelp line, but I really will be coming back here and not any other park! The extra 5 minutes towards the drive is worth it.
