Cereal Cinema

Cereal Cinema is hosted at the IMA Toby Theatre in the cooler months and the Athenaeum in the summer on the first Saturday of the month at 10am. For $5, you get to enjoy a family-friendly movie, the cereal bar, and relive the glory days of Saturday morning cartoons. I appreciate the throwback kids' movies like the Land Before Time, Mary Poppins, and Newsies - introducing the little ones to some cult classics that they're wayyyy too young to remember. I wish they had more healthy cereal options available (as most are Lucky Charms type sugar coma concoctions), but one cup of sugar overdose once a month won't hurt ya.

This is a great way to take your young ones out to the movies without worrying about disturbing everyone in the theater. You definitely don't come here for the cinematic experience as the kids are talking and running up and down the aisles, but it's all good fun.For $5, you get all you can eat cereal and milk, bananas, and coffee for the adults.

Cereal Cinema was great! Giant bean bags to relax in up front, great quality movie (even though the one we saw, The Land Before Time, was from 1988), and lots of cereal options, including gluten-free ones like Cheerios. There was also regular and almond milk, which was nice to see. We loved the free coffee and Yelp mug this time - such a great morning! These events also take place on Family Day at the IMA, so you can wander around and participate in the activities, such as food sampling, paper making and decorating pots which they provided dirt and seeds for. WE LOVE CEREAL CINEMA :)

Hold up. Wait a minute. Let me get this straight. There is a cereal buffet. General American Donuts. AND you are showing Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo. All for $5. YEP, I'm there! I'm all for the throwback classic films. So, my bf and I got up bright and early to attend the screening. I "heart" The Toby. I felt a bit odd being the oldest there without kids, but oh well. Breakin' 2 is a classic not to be missed. PLUS, we were able to indulge in all of the sugary cereals we were deprived of as children. Fruit Loops, Frosted Flakes, Captain Crunch, Lucky Charms, and so much more. Don't fret there are healthier options available. This was such a fun morning. Also no shame if you are a movie buff without a kiddo. It's still a fun morning.

So much fun for the kids. We snuggled on a giant beam bag chair together watching land before time eating our lucky charms. It was fantastic!
