From the first look out the car window when you arrive, I will be honest, it looks a little sketchy, but that feeling disappeared fast. Everything from the front desk help, to the barkeeper was perfect. Small businesses are expensive to build and I hope they succeed. I understand why some persons might think the gardens are overgrown, but once you realize that it's a wildflower garden, you can see the vision of what the owners are working towards. This is a non-chain motel, with a great location, comfortable and CLEAN rooms. The beds are very comfortable, everything was spotless. We had dinner in the bar (it had a fully stocked bar!), just nachos, but they were good.

I put four stars for the cleanliness of our room, the property, and how kind and helpful the staff was. Our check-in/out was so quick and easy, which frequently doesn't happen at large hotel chains, and incredibly personable. Our room was very clean and put together. It's definitely an older building that could have a few face lifts, but the quality of our stay was superb. It's also located in an area that's easily accessible to IU campus and that Uber services. There's also a calm neighborhood across the street that was great to run in.

Very nice hotel. The staff is very nice and friendly. It offers many cool features: a beautiful garden / courtyard with many flowers, lights, outdoor seating area, music and games, even a Buddha's statue on the mossy hill. The room was nice and clean. Best bang for your buck! Will definitely be back when we're in town! We spent many Christmases and Thanksgivings here.

Really nice for the price lodgings in Bloomington, Indiana. Clean spacious room with a couch, super comfortable king bed, green tea choice by the coffee maker, lovely outdoor patio, not far from downtown and to top it off super friendly front desk service.

This is a really solid 4-star hotel, and I think if they stick with the current trajectory it'll be a 5-star one soon! Why it earned 4 stars: The room overall is very clean, it has everything you'd expect (but no microwave, not a huge deal to me). They have eco friendly soaps and seem to care much more about being environmentally conscious than many other hotels of a similar price range. The soaps even smell amazing! The bed was comfortable, nothing too fancy but keep in mind most of these rooms are ~$60/night so if you expect a bed like a $200/night room would have, you'll be disappointed (and naive...). They have a nice selection of tea and coffee in the room. The bathroom is vintage- the tiles appear to be original and some of the fixtures as well. I love the vintage feel but I will add that in my particular room, the shower to bath valve didn't switch fully so the shower had half the water and the bath faucet had the other half. Surprisingly it didn't affect water pressure negatively, it was just a little bit loud. Not a deal breaker for me! A microwave would be nice but they have a mini fridge and that's more important to me than a microwave. Regarding breakfast, it's very simple. They had two types of cereal, some juices and milk, coffee, tea, yogurt, fruit, oatmeal, and bagels/breads. They also had local coffee and a box of donuts from a local shop. Glad they're supporting some local businesses! They also had a compost and recycle bin which earns them many more bonus points. More places need to do that. They use real dishes and utensils- less waste overall and feels more homelike. Why it's not quite 5 stars yet: The two mugs in the room were a little dirty and I can't tell if it's just dust from linens or if they weren't washed well. It's a little gross but i didn't mind just giving a mug a quick wash in the sink, though some people may be really turned off by it. There was some hair in the shower and on the bathroom floor which is really really gross. There wasn't a lot or I may have called the desk but other people's hair is my worst nightmare! The thing about the shower and bath faucets not switching completely is a little weird because it's loud. The hotel is doing a lot of renovations right now and may get around to fixing it, who knows. The lobby is nice and the breakfast was good mostly. I wish they'd had a little bit more to choose from on the protein side of things but yogurt is close enough for now. The hotel overall seems very environmentally conscious but it was odd they had a bunch of single use plastic water bottles in the breakfast area. That's incredibly wasteful and most people are happy with tap water. For some reason they also put butter and cream cheese in tiny plastic cups and they didn't really put enough for a single serving in each so I ended up using three plastic containers for cream cheese on my one bagel. The little cream cheese packages other hotels usually have would be a little less wasteful just because there's more in them... Overall I was impressed and pleased with my stay. The people working were extremely friendly and the rooms and general vibe of the hotel are really great. It has a retro feel and I appreciate their eco friendly mindset. They still have a little ways to go before being excellent but I have faith they will get there soon. PS there's a lovely courtyard with bird feeders and gardens, and in the back you can see the Cascades park. A nice outdoorsy feel to it all.

This hotel should be shutdown. They claim to be a 1960's style hotel however that is not an explanation for rust dripping from the shower, the shower floor peeling, a crack in the wall, no closet in the room and steps that are cracking so badly they look like they are about to crumble away.

The staff were very nice, and the hotel was clean, which earned a 2. That being said, it was one of the worst places we have ever stayed. The beds were like trampolines. Maybe they were trampolines. The HVAC sounded like a 747 at takeoff (every 15 minutes) No way was I drinking from a coffee cup placed upside down on a hotel dresser. The coffee maker had to be run 3 times before the water looked safe to consume. My husband needs a CPAP and the electrical outlets either did not work or were intermittent. I am glad he didn't die there. The breakfast could be described as a snack break. The infrastructure was in poor condition. It was 2 nights of almost zero sleep. We would have been better off to have slept in our car and eaten at McDonalds. I thought the reviews/ratings were much higher when I was booking.

We stayed here for a night while our place had a water main break. It's clean and quiet. The rooms don't have a desk or anything, but they do have a few packets of tea and coffee. There's a courtyard which is "under construction" but looks like it would be quite beautiful in its prime. Eventually they say they're going to have a direct path to Cascades park. The lobby is closed due to COVID, but it looks like they usually have breakfast and a library of DVDs and books. I mean, it ain't the Raddison, but it's a little nicer than a Super 8 for the same price.

Run. I have stayed in over 1,000 hotels around the world over the last 30 years. This has to be in the bottom 5. No desk in the room. No accessible outlets. Construction noise morning to night. Spotty internet. Very tired property. Joke of a breakfast. I was going to blame myself for inadequate research and roll with it until they ripped me off. Well in accordance with their policy, I gave two employees 72 and 60 hours advance notice of my early check out. I also had a virtual chat with Hotels.com at the 72 hours mark. When I went ahead and checked out early, I was told everything was fine and one night would be refunded. Then the deception, obfuscation, and disrespect started. So unprofessional. Such poor customer relations. This hotel has provided me with a pitiful case study for the business classes I teach and the books I write.
