This park is located right across from Decatur Central High School and the fire station. It is not well marked and is in dire need of some TLC. There is trash all over the place, the parking lot and road needs lots of patching, and the facilities have been neglected. This park has a few baseball fields (some of which are lighted), an awesome playground, and a pirate themed splash pad called the Robert "Bob" Cockrum Spray Grounds. There is also a couple of covered pavilions with some picnic tables and a grill. There is also bathroom facilities on site, however, they are not open during the winter months. There is a half decent basketball court, that appears to be sponsored by the Indiana Fever, in the front of the park that has a couple of benches on the side. There is also tons of trash all around there. The playground is one of the most updated parts of the park. It has newer equipment, Swings, a slide and an extensive jungle gym. The splash pad also looks nice and seems like it would be a lot of fun, but is also worn and does not work half the time from what I hear. The parks drive is circular and can make for some good walking, jog or dog walking. I would say a full trip around is about a quarter to a half of a mile. All in all, this is an ok park. It has a lot of potential. It could surely benefit from an Eagle Scout project or a community day. It is not my favorite park, but could definitely serve its purpose if you are in the area.

A park within a park. From what I have read, Carson Park has a number of baseball diamonds and a concession stand on the south side of the road into the park. On the north side, a really nice playground and a shelter are there for less structured entertainment and activity. Also on the north end, closest to the entrance, the spray park was dedicated to Robert "Bob" Cockrum for his service to the city. Although it was too cold for the spray park to open, the equipment looked like it would be fun for kids.A nice restroom building exists and I believe the concessions building may have additional restrooms. My only concern is that if all the ball fields have kids playing, getting in and out of the park with the single entrance could cause some delays.Review #640

I will start by saying the one star rating is simply because I have to rate something before I can leave my review.. that being said, at one of our girls practices the restrooms had toilet paper and trash strewn all over the place with no toilet paper in the rollers.. toilets hadn't been cleaned at all! And there was one toilet with a plunger just sitting inside the bowl.. needless to say we can back over a week later for a game and the bathrooms had only gotten worse and that same plunger and same stall were still in the same position as before. Trash cans were not emptied in over 2-3 weeks with trash overflowing into the diamonds and elsewhere, fields are not properly maintained for our girls to play, grass and weeds covered them... grass is also not cut in the rest of the park. Every time we've tried to come to the board members they blame it on one of the other board members instead of just fixing the issue. I am extremely embarrassed at how this field has went downhill over the last couple years.

Nice little park and splash pad. Many of the water features on the splash pad were not working at the time of my visit. The play structure itself is nice but the slides are steep, and overall not the most little kid friendly.

I really like this park mostly because of the hoops and base ball field my friends love the park but I think the splash pads could use some fixing they flood a lot.

The park itself is pretty decent, the splash pad needs some work it floods all the time but all the sprayers seem to work, the softball program up there called dtgs (decatur township girl softball) is a joke, the fields are crappy, no one gathers up trash in the plenty of 55 gallon trash cans around the fields and empties them after games are played so the trash overflows everywhere, most coaches that coach up there are petty and for themselves they are not for the girls who play in that league, the new board members are clueless on what needs to be done and how to manage the program. I would not recommend playing for that organization I am only giving them 1 star because it will not post without rating them but they deserve no stars
