This little building is right off pendleton pike just east of post road. Much more convenient for me than going up to 75th and shadeland. It appears to be the same menu the restaurant has for cooked food. (Obviously they don't have a fresh fish counter like the restaurant does). So if your not buying fresh fish from the restaurant/market site and you want a sandwich or a diner, this location is perfect for Eastsiders. The grille Salmon came with 2 small sides and hush 2 hush puppies for $16.79.They Do NOT use pork in their greens or green beans, YAY! I was told the only side that has pork is the red beans and rice.Everything was packed with flavor. I got the Cajon spice salmon and hubby got the lemon pepper. We didn't need to add any spices or condiments to anything.Perfect grill on the salmon orka fried perfectly.I think it was just under 15 minutes to place my order and pick it up.There is a phone number you can call ahead: 317-389-5378.The said there was an app but I was not able to find it.There is a parking lot so you can wit in you car or there is a table and a bench to wait at if the weather is nice. You can give your phone number and they will text you when your order is done.Very reasonable price for very good food seasoned well.

It's definitely a fish market that also sells sandwiches on the side. I ordered a salmon sandwich. It comes all by itself -- no sides. The salmon was good. The market has as much ambience as the food court at Costco. LOLStill, the fish was good. Bathroom was dirty, which always concerns me in restaurants. (It's becoming a staple of my reviews.)Lady who took my order at the register was nice. There's plenty of parking.

The food is delicious, hot, and seasoned to perfection. The customer service is great and they are very efficient in their handling of the customer. The restaurant is in a parking lot mobile home but that's fine with me because they keep the area clean and neat. I will definitely come back again and again.

I had heard many times about this restaurant and have to admit I was skeptical about ordering from what looked like a shack on the side of the road. I am glad I decided to try it. I ordered the catfish dinner and it was really good. Came with plenty of food and sides. I will definitely be ordering there again and want to try the main location now. If you are on that side of town, I highly recommend you give Caplinger's a try! Keep up the great work and the good food.

If you've ever driven down Pendleton Pike and done a double-take when you passed by what looks like another Caplinger's location, it is actually a Caplinger's location. Officially known as "Caplinger's Fresh Catch Seafood Kitchen," this spot semi-resembles its sister locations - the original spot on Shadeland Avenue and the Whitestown location. In case it's not obvious from the name, Caplinger's specializes in seafood - dinners, sandwiches, etc. Unlike the sister locations, Caplinger's is not a sit-down joint. They offer carry-out or delivery. I placed my order this evening via GrubHub, a rather dastardly way of having dinner given the upping of the price but a nice option for someone recovering from surgery and wanting a decent meal. Also unlike the other locations, this location obviously doesn't have any retail options. Essentially, as has been pointed out, it's rather like a food truck but in this case it's in a set location. You pull into the parking lot and order at the window. You wait for your food. They do have a loudspeaker, so you can wait in your car if desired. As they prepare the food fresh, the wait can be 20 minutes or so. For some odd reason, mostly because I have a friend who blogs about tenderloin, I opted to go away from their seafood options and order their hand-breaded tenderloin. It comes with the usual toppings, though they were delivered on the side. They also have a variety of side options - I chose an order of waffle fries. The entire meal came in at just over $12 for the base meal, but by the time you add in delivery and tip you definitely go higher. While I'm rating the meal a 4-star, I'll add a slight disclaimer that I doubt I would actually order it again. The Caplinger's specialty is seafood and this meal wasn't really good enough to make me deviate again. It was fun to try, but just a touch disappointing. The sandwich is huge - it's on the thinner side, but not too thin. It definitely has a meaty taste to it with some strong seasoning. I would almost say a bit too strong. I'd almost gone for their hush puppies, which I'd tried at the Shadeland location, but opted for the fries. Again, I'd probably go for hash browns next time. The waffle fries weren't much more than warm by the time they arrived, though the serving size was plentiful. If I could, I'd probably go 3.5. However, I'm going up primarily because service is always solid at Caplinger's and this is a side item outside their specialty. It's a solid value for the price. It is noted that they have sandwiches, dinners, sides, desserts, and drinks. I did not see drinks on the GrubHub menu, though I doubt that I'd have ordered a drink anyway. The only two sandwiches that are not fish/seafood related - chicken and tenderloin. Among the dinners, the only things not fish/seafood are chicken. They do also have frog legs and alligator tail. Since I just had my leg amputated, I didn't have the heart to eat frog legs. I'm kind of being serious. Anyway, I'm going with a 4-star rating while acknowledging that upon a future visit I'll likely stick to their seafood menu specialties. If you're in the area and looking for something to take home, it's a terrific option but definitely not a destination spot. I should note that there's a wheelchair ramp that goes up to the order window - it's a touch steep, but its presence is appreciated.

Where to begin I'll begin with yuck I asked for a piece of blackened catfish it's on the menu so you would think they'd know what blackened is? It was doused in a bunch of red seasonings barely cooked it they wanna call it grilled not a grill mark anywhere ! I'm gonna call it steamed microwaved. I guess you just better stick to fried they probably do that better than they do anything else and even that method could use some improvement. We won't even mention the nasty dumpy little trailer that it's in ridiculous. I was at the Belle Tire getting a battery in an oil change so I decided to walk over and give them another chance I've done the Shadeland twice and I thought I'd give this a try but I'm done it's a wrap for me.

I came by this week to pick up dinner. It's typically busy here with a line and I was able to come at a rare non-busy time (score!). The gentleman at the counter was patient with me as I asked questions about the menu (I had only been to their other location once years ago). He explained that the fish they are known for (basa) was brought to the area by the Caplinger's and very delicious. I decided to try this with the fish & shrimp combo. I got the fish fried and the shrimp grilled (they give you a variety of seasonings to choose from). I ordered buffalo fries and candied yams as my sides. My wait wasn't very long and it looks like everything is made to order so I didn't mind waiting (only about 5 min). As I waited, a lot of people poured it. It's obvious that this location is booming and I'm happy for them! Support local businesses!!When I got home with my order, I quickly realized I had no hush puppies, sad day. I dug in to eat and was not overly impressed with the small shrimp. They were underwhelming. The fish though- that was the best darn fish I had ever had in my entire life. I would give that fish 100 stars if I could! The buffalo fries were okay, a little softer than I prefer fries, and the yams were pretty good. I tried to call about the hush puppies but the line was busy (likely with orders). I messaged them on yelp and the owner got back to me within a couple of minutes. He was very kind and apologetic. I was not upset, mistakes happen, I just wanted my hush puppies on my next order, which he guaranteed to help make happen.Overall, this is a great place that deserves continued support. If you aren't into seafood, or have someone in your party who isn't, they had other options, such as chicken and pork sandwiches. Otherwise, you better try that basa - you'll be SO glad you did!
