This review is written from a guest point of view. I have not worked with them to plan an event so I can't speak to that end at all. However, as a guest of a wedding at this venue I was very impressed. The upstairs space made a beautiful ceremony venue. Seating was comfortable and very pretty. The space has lovely architecture and the facilities were very nice. The downstairs space was set up for the reception and just beautiful, they had different size tables so that everyone wasn't sitting in groups of 10. Out table for instance was long and rectangular so that more of us could sit together. The seating was comfortable. The dance floor was set up in the center so everyone could see it. And the head table was placed so that everyone could see the people giving the toasts. There was ample room for dancing, sitting plus all the extra tables you need at a wedding (gift, guestbook, dessert, favor). The staff was professional and managed to serve 150 people hot food pretty closely timed so that people were eating at almost the same time. The bars were never crowded which says to me that they are well staffed and placed well in the space.

We recently had a holiday event here for about 120 guests and it was a great experience! Our coordinator, Crystal, was really helpful and responsive in the weeks leading up to the event and I didn't find any of the catering or decoration rules repressive at all. They were able to accommodate our many dietary requests and all the food was good. The space itself is really beautiful and doesn't need a lot of fancy decor, which was a huge plus.Other reviewers have mentioned rude bartenders and wait staff, but that wasn't my experience. On the contrary, they were all incredibly friendly the entire night. The event supervisor, Dave, was especially helpful. The only downside is the limited parking surrounding the venue, but we encouraged folks to take a Lyft, so all was fine. I'd definitely recommend this venue to anyone interested in a downtown location for their event.

I just went to a wedding here and I absolutely loved the venue. It's modern rustic and looks like it may have been a church at some point. The entrance is a huge black door with an arch on point and had a gothic sort of feel, but not gothic in the traditional "dark" sense. It matches the inside quite well. It also happens to be right by the side of the canal. If I were to have a wedding, I'd happily and highly consider holding it here.

Attended a wedding here recently and the location is wonderful (aside from the sewage smell from the standing water at the base of the canal) and the layout of the building is cool. The ceremony was upstairs and the bridal party stood in front of a large window facing downtown so decorations were rightfully minimal.Tall ceilings and exposed brick are the perfect touch. Cocktail hour was hosted outside and that's when the smell kicked in, a little rough. And the drink flow situation was hard to maneuver. Once we went inside for dinner, the main hall continued with the need for less decor because of the ambiance but the room is fairly small feeling due to the kitchen wall. Also the food was lackluster. No choices for protein (which I assume is the decision of the bride & groom so no worries there, but each plate came out looking differently even thought they were all the same meal. It was a chicken with pine nuts and some sort of red sauce over purple mashed potatoes with green beans I think. Some came out without pine nuts or red sauce, very inconsistent. The whole time I was wondering where the dance floor was going to be! Turns out, back upstairs! They removed all of the ceremony chairs and added a large bar with cocktail tables to accommodate for dancing. We were also allowed access to the balcony for an open cigar bar.All in all a cool space but the food was a miss and it's in house. Also, not very much ambience on the dance floor, felt a little too wide open.

Beautiful location, but avoid if you're looking for a place to be flexible for your party. Obnoxiously strict alcohol rules and an inflexibility that borders on absurd. There are many beautiful locations near here and your event will be better because of it.

Attended a wedding here this summer and everything was beautiful. They have these nice bridal suites downstairs, one for the men and one for the ladies, however they did not let the bride, groom or wedding party leave their things (bags, clothes, etc.) in these rooms during the reception. They said it was a liability and would only let them use it for the first hour (which was pointless). Why would they have these nice bridal suites if the bridal party can't leave their belongings in there during the reception so they wouldn't have to worry?! Very frustrating and something to consider for future brides and grooms looking at this venue!!!

Amazing venue for a wedding. Food and Bev were on point. Excellent service and great chow by the chef. Problem was the DJ. He was....let me see how I put this.....a DOUCHE. My father asked for certain music because the family had practiced dances for the wedding. We choreographed a fun wedding dance and he kept saying he would play the music but never did. I asked him 3 times. I should have just kicked him out and used my ipad. Too bad a wedding experience got ruined by a long hair hippy douche dj.

I recently attended an event with RE/MAX of Indiana. I didn't think the beverage rules were strict. They had several drink stations inside and out. The dinner was incredible! Food was delicious and presented beautifully. The staff was very attentive the entire evening.

Canal 337 was EVERYTHING we could've asked for. Lauren sold the venue to us and they delivered on everything they promised. There were no surprises. Everything was included and there were optional upgrades that we barely even used. I saved so much money on decor and flowers because honestly the venue is beautiful in itself. Jacinta and Emily made sure I was confident going into our big day and they made sure it went flawlessly. Wedding food is hit and miss but seriously I got so many compliments on how good the food was and I liked it even better than we tasted it for our tasting. The late night snacks we added were SO good and I'm still getting compliments on the sliders. There is absolutely nothing I would change! There are negative reviews and I brought that up immediately before I booked and Lauren acknowledged they had issues in the past but revamped everything so ignore all of that and just book!

This venue is beautiful but you have to add a LOT of flowers, decorations, and lighting. Which in the end costs a lot of money to make it beautiful. You can do that in most any church or park, and not have the cost of a high priced venue. I know this because my son had a summer wedding here. Not worth the money. They also charge for every small item. The Canal did not let my daughter in law and son leave there clothes in the bride and groom rooms, even though they had locks on the doors. So the parents had it take all items out of the rooms BEFORE the wedding started. Which made for a lot of CHAOS, with brides maids, grooms men, and parents trying to clear the rooms without upsetting the bride and groom. Save yourself and your family the headaches. Do not use this venue.
