Ken N. "This brand new addition to "the Yard" in Fishers was a pleasant discovery. After parking in front of the building on the east side of the north-south access road, I entered the shop portion of this meat shop. There was a rack of food items by the door. There is a U-shaped meat counter with multiple staff available to assist. In the center, a 2-sided cooler has packaged meets and food items.I decided to get some bulk Mild Italian Sausage, some sliced Jalapeno Colby Jack cheese, and after getting a free sample of their house made Ham Salad, decided to get a pound of that. The ham salad was fantastic and I've already tried some on crackers with the cheese. Yum!Very friendly, helpful, and timely assistance from the staff.I wish I lived closer. I could see becoming a regular customer here.Review #3409"

Ron is also great guy--he can be a bit gruff at times, but he was a Marine. They always have top quality meats--most of which they source from the Midwest. I appreciate being able to buy meat from Indiana. We always come here for holiday meat--if you want a local turkey, standing rib roast, rack of lamb, or bone-in ham, this is the go-to place in Muncie. They also make some sausages and brats that are pretty good. I haven't bought seafood from here--but it looks pretty good from what I can see. They also have boar's head lunch meats and make some pretty mean sandwiches (out of Gonella bread from Chicago). There is also amish butter and eggs and ham salad and cheese and stuff like that. They have good, though limited, produce (onions, potatoes, carrots, cabbage most of the time).I like dealing with a local business where people know my name. I'd highly recommend going here if you are in Muncie."

My dad also used to always make up bedtime stories for us, and his go-to story was always about a boy named Billy who hid between the potato chip bags at Broccoli Bill's - LOL. I therefore have a deeply-rooted connection to this spot, as it still feels like special folklore to me. *And I'm lowkey still looking for Billy as I shop for chips.*Anywho, I love all of the local items they offer here. From Hot Toddy's baked goods (the carrot cake is amazing) to local meats, snacks, and more, you'll enjoy this mini grocery that's connected to Slapfish (delicious, fast-casual seafood spot). They have a lot of produce here and it's fun to browse. There's a free parking lot out front, making it easy to pop in on a whim. Stop in!"

Jamie W. "Yay, the first to review! I'm surprised no one has reviewed Munsee Meat yet, but it seems Muncie has less Yelp action. My review is based only on my experience with their new AFM pickup option - that is how I discovered them. You can order online via their website and opt to have delivered (if you live locally), pickup at the store, or pickup at their new AFM machine. The AFM machine is like a meat ATM, when your order is ready they'll send you a QC code, you go to the machine, scan your code and the locker with your order will unlock for you. It's great for socially distancing and no-contact pickup, or even for those ordering from out of town or need to pickup after-hours. I had a little bit of delay with my order being ready in time, because their truck didn't come in. But they communicated that with me and kept me posted on when the truck would arrived.Prices are very reasonable for meat here! Some of the lowest around. 4 lbs of taco meat for only $15! Also great prices on chicken, ribeye, and bacon."

Katherine A. "We've been shopping at Joe's for a couple of years now. Joe's is local and offers freshly butchered/cured, high quality meats in the shop and you can also order specialty cuts. In the past, we've picked up brisket to smoke. Today, we just picked up some fresh ground beef to make hamburgers. They are currently taking orders for Thanksgiving turkey! The shop also sells wine, some cheese, prepared salads, bbq spices and sauce and just about everything you'd need to fix a gourmet dinner. Today, I was happy to see fresh pasta (reasonably priced) and beautiful specialty mushrooms. They also make deli-style sandwiches to order and there is a small area to eat inside. I haven't tried the sandwiches. The clerks are anxious to serve and efficient. There's plenty of street parking early in the day, but good luck."

Mecca is located in an old strip mall just off route 40. The grocery store is packed with food for Middle East cuisine. I pick up ingredients that I can't find elsewhere for stuffed grape leaves and other Greek dishes. I find specialty oils and cheeses for cooking. The prices are good. They also offer a limited assortment of fresh Middle Eastern pastries and cookies which I have not tried. The staff is always super friendly and will help you located items. The store is never crowded and there is plenty of parking."

Ken N. "Five Star meats and service. I really enjoyed the different meats I've had from Moody's. My wife makes a crock pot dish using the thick cut boneless pork chops (with pork stuffing and no sugar apple pie filling) that turns out fantastic with the meat having a great savory flavor. I also picked up some of the breakfast sausage that is not too spicy, but with enough flavor to wake up your taste buds! The folks behind the counter were very helpful and freezer wrapped everything I ordered. No waiting all day for service either! And when I mentioned it was my first time shopping at this location, they told me to pick out a FREE package of bacon! I don't know if they do that for all first time guests, but I hadn't even made a large purchase. I was very appreciative! So why not five stars on my rating? Well a couple things. The place just needs a makeover. It may seem a bit trite to knock off a star for appearance, but if you have been to the Zionsville location, that place is beautifully laid out with far more options on displays that are neat and clean and filled with artisanal items that might go well with your purchase. That store sets the standard for all meat shops! So, even though this place sells the same quality meats and the folks are nice, it just doesn't draw you in like the place to the north. And the location is a bit of a problem for visitors who want to turn left out of their parking lot. The shop sits next to a hill that has definite blind spots for traffic coming from the north. I had to have my wife watch to the right while I waited for an opening in traffic from the left. Lots of traffic with no center lane to pull into. So, if you want high quality meats at very reasonable prices, stop by here....and maybe get some free bacon!Review #2267"

They only let 7 people at a time into the store and their face mask policy is awesome. It's so clean and everyone is so nice. The quality of meat is on point. I would never shop anywhere else. They also have all the staples; hamburger, pork chops, filet mignon, Amish chicken, etc. There's a small pantry area with steak sauce, seasoning's, and potatoes. Don's was recommended to me by a friend who does grilling competitions and says he'll only use their brisket. I can see why all the meat loving guys like Don's. Their cuts of meat are far superior to your Kroger and Meijer variety and priced about the same. If you follow them on Facebook you might be able to catch the flash sales they have in the family area like $1.99 hamburger or .99 chicken. Love Don's! I'm definitely a lifer customer."

Nicole S. "Tyner Pond is the place to get local meat. The prices are just a skosh more than chain grocery stores, but look: You're paying a couple of extra dollars for beef, chicken, pork and lamb that was nurtured and humanely raised on a nice farm in central Indiana. And you can taste the difference! These animals lived a happy life. If you're able, please support local farms and buy local meat.My standard order always includes ground beef, because it's deliciously fatty but not too fatty. Their ground beef cooks up just right. I also love all of their pork products that I've tried thus far, including pork chops, bacon and pulled pork. Their pulled pork is smoked and precooked, so all you have to do is warm it up and enjoy. It's amazing all by itself or with barbecue sauce. Honestly, I'm getting hungry just thinking about the pulled pork.Tyner Pond also sells grass-fed raw butter, fresh eggs (including duck eggs), chicken stock, raw cheese, lard, and sometimes food, like jarred meat sauce and soups. It's easy to place an order online via the Tyner Pond website. How it works is that if it's your first order, they will send you your products packaged in one of their signature red Tyner Pond Farm insulated bags. You keep the bag, and the next time you place an order, you put your red bag out on your porch on the morning of your delivery day, and they will put your order inside the bag. So easy! If you forget to put your red bag out on your porch, no worries. They will deliver your order in a new red bag. And then you have two red bags (or however many bags, depending on how many time you forgot to put your bag out). It's all very casual and yet professional. And it's always a delight to see your red bag stuffed full of delicious food. I love Tyner Pond Farm!"

The west end of the shop is devoted to a seating area while the east end is filled with displays of local products including canned items (jellies etc.) and candies. They also have some fresh bread and baked items. The left side of the market has the meats and cheeses available to order. They had several folks working behind the counter to be able to keep up with the customers. I had already eaten before stopping in here to shop, so I passed on getting a sandwich or soup. I find it quite ingenious to offer lunch meals as a way to supplement the market when a lot of folks don't have the devices necessary to keep meats fresh in their offices if they shop at lunch. Maybe seeing the counters full of great looking options may bring them back for a purchase before dinner.Review #3628"

Chad M. "I've shopped here many times mostly for meats to cook out on the grill, I have bought their pork BBQ, beef BBQ, tuna salad, chicken salad, pork chops, chicken breast, thick cut bacon, beef hot dogs, sub sandwiches, various steaks, and I'm sure a few things I am forgetting. This business has been here a very long time, and I would guess it probably looks the same way it did almost 50 years ago, but in an old fashioned good way, ha. The building is old, the parking lot is small and sometimes difficult to navigate, as there is a constant flow of vehicles in and out. The inside is small and lined with meat counters in the front, breads on the right, and coolers filled with cold drinks, fresh brown eggs, milk, and other items at the rear. So there is not much room inside, and sometimes the lines are too the door. Seems most people in line just buy a few meats for a special dinner that night. While the large orders are assembled after hours and available for pick up at the side door. This is a locally owned and family operated, real butcher shop. It's not fancy like an expensive chain store might be, but what it lacks in looks, it makes up for in fresh and great tasting meats. The owner can cut you specific sizes of a meat if you wish. They stay very busy and are well known to the locals, as one of the best meat shops around anywhere. They also sell large quantities of meats in many various packages, and can custom design a package just for you. Such as 25 lbs of mixed beef, 50 lbs of pork and beef, or even 100 lbs of pork, beef, and chicken. Those are just examples, but they can fill your freezer with anything cuts of meats you want. The more you buy the lower the cost goes. I do not recall ever getting a bad cut of meat from here. It is always very fresh, a good cut, cooks well, is juicy, tasty, and ends up making a great meal. This is an authentic old time, old style butcher shop, that you normally only see in small towns nowadays, and it is worth the time to stop in and buy your meat here instead of from a large retail franchise chain store."

My friend said the ground deer meat made excellent burgers too. This particular deer was killed cleanly, and as humanely as possible, with a head shot, and wasn't too old or too big, so that had a lot to do with the quality of the meat. But the seasoning and construction of the salami/summer-sausage also showed that this processor knows their stuff."
