"Wow. So impressed by this cafe and bakery. But honestly it's so much more. It's a great spot for German food but a super interesting and eclectic shop as well. Right off 465 too. I recommend seating at the counter. Start with the food. Definitely ask the staff for their favorite items if you don't know where to start. Basically you get a wiener, German potato salad (warmed) and bread. I got the farmers brat and it was great. While you are waiting for food take a look around, grab some of their delicious bakery items or fresh bread. Great prices too. Don't forget to grab a photo with the gnome outside."
"First off the grocery store alone is amazing. Wall to wall produce, the longest meat counter I have ever seen and a bakery to die for. The restaurant is very inexpensive. I got a chorizo Torta. It literally had an entire avocado on it. The chorizo was not the best I have ever had so I probably wouldn't get that again. Service was on point. I felt like I was eating at a restaurant on vacation."
"This is by far the cleanest international grocery that I have visited. They appeared to be renovating/expanding during my visit. Each shelf was immaculate. I was on a quest for rice noodles, which they did not carry. They specialize in ingredients for middle eastern and Indian foods (but not Asian). I was excited to find semolina flour for making pasta at a great price. They also have a vast selection of beans, rice and flours. I picked up some fava beans. There is a large meat counter at the back of the store with fresh meat. They also carry an assortment of fresh breads. Tons of fresh dates greet you at the check out. The staff is super friendly and efficient. The store is located on the south side of 38th Street in an older strip mall. There is plenty of parking. I'll be back."
"I still shop here from time to time. Reason I come back . staff friendly. the best meat in the area. One thing I have learned call in andpre-order also mention ad. Stop problems before they can happen. Even doing this I had a problem one time but they honored ad that time"
"My daughter and I were in the area exploring local shops when we saw this Mexican grocery store. We decided to pop in and check out the variety of products being offered. We were mainly looking for snacks...and I wanted to check out the meat.We were able to find La Abuelita hot cocoa tablets, agua fresca drink mix in naranja, chicharonnes, fresh habanero peppers and a variety of Mexican candies. I glanced at the meat counter, but it didn't seem to have much of a selection to offer. On our way out, I did notice that they had tamales listed on a white board near the door, so I believe they sell those at the deli counter. We'll be back to try those out and to purchase a big jug of Jumex! The staff was very kind and attentive; they made us feel welcomed!"
"This is a short and sweet review for a small grocery store located in a strip mall on the west side. We stumbled upon La Canasta after visiting the neighboring Salvadorian restaurant and Mexican Bakery (Artisan Bakery). La Canasta offers an assortment of beans, snacks, Mexican cheeses, produce (cactus, onions, zucchini, etc.), cold beverages and a few baked goods. We ended up picking up a few snacks for the road. I was most impressed by the bean selection. Note to self for the next time I'm whipping up pozole: they have canned tomatillos. Overall, the store is quite small and not the cleanest. I prefer Carniceria Guanajuato or a few other Mexican grocery stores we've frequented over this one."
"They have a fantastic salad bar at lunch! They got all the fixings and and it's only 8.99 a pound!"
"I still give this supermarket five stars however, with this rating, I'm anticipating that perhaps they might consider their customers' time and effort with regard to digital coupons. I prefer to make my shopping trips as quickly and as efficient as possible. That means I do not appreciate having to clip digital coupons either in the store or before I arrive. Why should I have to spend my time shopping twice? I have my location services on, I do not understand why every single coupon is not loaded under my profile the moment I walk through those doors.I believe this is something that I get at Meijer, where are you Payless? Put your customers first -- give them the best value because you certainly have a great products!"
"I come here sometimes for lunch and it's much more than just a gas station! I'm so impressed with the fresh food they have to offer. I typically do a "make your own" salad or pasta bowl. They fill the toppings up!!! Think like a subway/chipotle counter with a ton of fresh selection. The ladies who make everything are so nice and friendly too. The place is clean and updated. I really have nothing but good things to say!"
"Random story: My family went here growing up, back when there wasn't much in Noblesville. My dad also used to always make up bedtime stories for us, and his go-to story was always about a boy named Billy who hid between the potato chip bags at Broccoli Bill's - LOL. I therefore have a deeply-rooted connection to this spot, as it still feels like special folklore to me. *And I'm lowkey still looking for Billy as I shop for chips.*Anywho, I love all of the local items they offer here. From Hot Toddy's baked goods (the carrot cake is amazing) to local meats, snacks, and more, you'll enjoy this mini grocery that's connected to Slapfish (delicious, fast-casual seafood spot). They have a lot of produce here and it's fun to browse. There's a free parking lot out front, making it easy to pop in on a whim. Stop in!"
"I drove down to this store after my visit to Saraga International market. It's on the west side of Lafayette Road, just a couple of miles south of Saraga. I've been to a few stores around Indianapolis, and Oriental Market was likely the cleanest. As I entered, the young man behind the partition at the cash register, was completely involved with his phone and didn't look up.I heard people talking and walked to the right, where I saw a neat, small selection of produce. In fact, it's a small, neat store. As I walked through the aisles, I passed 3 people who didn't bother to say anything to me.They have good amounts of frozen foods, 50 and 15 pound bags of rice from most of the major brands, and a good amount of dry items, as well. I was surprised to find some housewares including hot water pots and rice cookers, also. I saw some clams and other seafood in a refrigerated case toward the back of the store.Unfortunately, they didn't have enough Japanese or Korean items to interest me to buy. The things I couldn't find at Saraga, they certainly didn't have, although they had both Japanese and Korean products."
"Mecca has the best flatbread in the state - hands down. I have been shopping here for a couple of years and I always pick up a 3-pack of the flatbread - reasonably priced at $2.99. Mecca is located in an old strip mall just off route 40. The grocery store is packed with food for Middle East cuisine. I pick up ingredients that I can't find elsewhere for stuffed grape leaves and other Greek dishes. I find specialty oils and cheeses for cooking. The prices are good. They also offer a limited assortment of fresh Middle Eastern pastries and cookies which I have not tried. The staff is always super friendly and will help you located items. The store is never crowded and there is plenty of parking."

Quirky, local, and clearly GERMAN! I'm not too sure when the last time they raised their prices was because they are pretty cheap! Most everything is under $10! Very hearty and satisfying, and I especially enjoyed the potato salad. As a meal bonus, we ordered a pretzel and shared it. The mustard they have on the table is HOT HOT HOT! A GOOD HOT! I compared it to St. Elmo's Steakhouse shrimp cocktail sauce, (horseradish wise!) So good! I wanted to buy some of it, but they were out of retail jars. I will have to go back just for the mustard!! You need to walk around after eating and take in all that is Heidelberg Haus, there is a mess of things/food/trolls/stuff to take in!

This is a review for the restaurant, not the store. I went here for the first time. I passed by this place many times but the building didn't look so inviting (to me). But let me tell you I liked the experience. They serve chips and salsa first, like any other Mexican restaurants but the salsa was not the typical one. It was green one and a red sauce and they were both very spicy. I saw something similar in a restaurant in Mexico City before, so it felt more authentic. they have GOOD tacos! I tried the asada tacos and they came with a lot of cilantro, onions and limes (just how I like it) and they were so delicioso!I was sad to see that some things like barbacoa were weekend-only. So I need to go back on a weekend. Service was very attentive and friendly.

Our own little middle eastern bazaar tucked in Indy's International Marketplace neighborhood. I had no idea this business existed until we toured our way through several markets in the area with the International Marketplace Coalition. Upon entering the business you will notice it's rough and somewhat gritty vibes by American standards (interior and exterior). Once you soak this in as being an authentic spot, you'll find aisles filled with fun items like teapots, packaged food products, printed plastic tablecloths and pastries like baklava that are made next door. I recommend pairing a visit to this business with lunch or dinner at neighboring restaurant, Al Rayan Restaurant. Both are located in the same strip. For those looking for hard to find middle eastern spices, this is the spot for you. Take a quick stroll through the Yelp photos of the business for a better taste of what they have to offer.

Love to find these wonderful international groceries where I can pick up dried peppers, spices and tortillas. This one, while tiny, carries all the essentials and includes a meat counter and small produce section. The staff was very friendly and tried to help me translate fruit. They carried my favorite standard brand of peppers and spices. They carried a large selection of hot sauces. The meats looked fresh and interesting. There was an interesting selection of Latin American sodas and beverages, can goods and rice. The shelves were neat and tidy. Religious items including handmade rosaries were available near the front check out counter. The steps into the store are a little clunky and the aisles are tight. I'm guessing not ADA standards but I am not an expert. Great little store for specialty items.

Who the heck knew that there is a Needler's in downtown Indianapolis? Apparently, everyone except me. I guess this used to be a Marsh, before all of the Marsh stores closed. So all of the old reviews that mention Marsh don't apply to this newer store, now called Needler's Fresh Market.I don't know -- I think Needler's is pretty good! It has a little bakery on site (Lemon's Bakery Cafe), which has hot food and baked goods, with seating by big windows that overlook Mass Ave. Beyond the cafe, the rest of the joint is a small grocery store. You'll find a modest produce section with fresh-looking greens and fruit and things. They sell house-made hummus and sushi. The wine section is abysmal, but I did find a bottle of one of my cheapie low-key favorite bottles of Malbec here, so I picked that up. The dried ramen section is also better than it needs to be. The prices seem to be about the same as Kroger and other grocery stores. Checkout was quick and there were several registers open. The only thing is that I entered through the cafe and exited by the registers, so I got a little turned around once I exited. Keep in mind that you can only enter/exit through the cafe at certain hours. They lock that door after a particular time. (I think it's 5 or 6 p.m.)

Hovering between 2 and 3 stars. Why are all of the Kroger/Payless checkers so unfriendly. I long for Trader Joe's. I long for Meijers. But my main issue with this site is design. For such a large building there is very little choice. Many aisles are devoted to housewares, shampoos etc. and that ridiculous 'seasonal items'aisle. I understand folks expect some of this in a grocery but the percentage of this fluff to the amount of actual food is way off balance here. Ah, profit margins. I get it but I don't have to rate it high. And they're new change, integrating the health foods throughout the store, just has me coming even less frequently. I find better elsewhere.

"On the way to Kokomo, we have to always stop by Wilson's Farm Market. The Market sells a large assortment of Amish cheese, candy, pastries and more. We visited around 10:00 a.m. and, while it was too early for lunch, there was a line of people ordering fried chicken and fresh made sandwiches. Why not? I ordered a box lunch of chicken and cole slaw that comes with a biscuit. Wow, the chicken was hot and moist with a crispy flavorful crust. The coleslaw was very creamy. The lunch also came with a fresh made biscuit. What a great lunch and it was inexpensive. The clerks are very friendly and can easily up-sell you on the freshly made pies and more. I picked up some smoked cheese while I was there and was tempted by the pastries. There are picnic tables to eat at outside, but they are not very clean. The parking lot needs some attention as well. But I can overlook these issues for the good food inside."
"They handled a busy weekend really well! Food was great! Worth the wait! We will go back on our next visit!"
"When I try to go to my local butcher shop in Mooresville, there are lines of people waiting with nobody looking at the boring and somewhat grimy grocery store. What a difference when I stopped in at Moody's!No lines, no waiting, lots of options, and so much cool stuff to browse through even if there was a rush on the butcher/deli counter. The store is clean and bright. The displays are orderly and along the wall near the street entrance is a cooler filled with cheeses and packaged sausages/meats. About half way into the shotgun style shop the order counter is on your left along with the full butcher counter filled with fresh cuts of meat. In the space on the customer side of the counter, there are displays of sauces and canned goods, a local ground coffee display, and a craft beer section. My wife saw a pair of thick cut pork chops that she couldn't resist (about 1 pound each!) We will be enjoying those soon in one of her favorite recipes!Very helpful staff behind the counters and they seemed very knowledgeable of their products. I also found there are three Moody's scattered around the metro area, so I will have to check out the Avon shop since it is a lot closer to home.A very pleasant shopping experience and I'm sure I'm going to enjoy the items we purchased.Review #2200"
"This is located in Twin Aire and it's a grocery store/lunch counter. I ordered three steak tacos. There isn't much room inside- there is a counter where you can eat but since I work next door I took it back to my office. The service was nice and quick. The food was pretty filling and tasty."
"I enjoy shopping local, especially when the independent shop carries mostly local artisan products. Such is the case with the Hayloft, tucked away in a corner of the Main Street Shoppes on US 136/Main St east of Hornaday Road. The shop doesn't have a lot bright colors to draw your attention so I drove around a bit just to find it. I also thought the store front a little dark (my wife thought the place was closed), but once inside, the two room shop was much brighter and appealing. The main room you enter has the order counter in the rear with coolers filled with meats, eggs, and other food items on the right. There were also lots of mixes, snacks, and other items. The room to the left carries coffees, sweatshirts, gift bags (?), and more canned goods. I ended up having a bag of coffee beans ground for me and picked up a mix for baked mushrooms. The woman behind the counter was friendly and answered my questions while she ground the coffee (no extra fee.) While we chatted, I noticed the order counter had lots of baked cookies and a display of cupcakes, but since I was going for ice cream after my visit, I passed on the treats.A nice shop for finding quality items while supporting local (90% of the items in store are locally/Hoosier made).Review #3737"
"This has been one of my "go to" places for all things wellness. You can choose from a juice bar that uses fresh vegetables and fruits, a food bar that has delicious dishes made with your health in mind, groceries that include organic options that are priced reasonably, and an array of supplements that often include local vendors. It is a unique place with caring people who will prioritize your health!!"
"I'm excited about the new Market District in Westfield! I didn't even know it was there, but saw it out of the corner of my eye and turned the car around. I was just going to visit, check it out, but ended up staying for lunch and then buying groceries for dinner. Many of the products are from Indiana! Flowers, lettuce and herbs, root beer and more. The produce and meats look FRESH. They had mushrooms that you just can't find anywhere. I took my granddaughters for lunch. They each got whatever they wanted. Pizza and Mac and cheese (of course). I had the fresh made sushi which was on special. I mean he made it and handed it to me FRESH. I got the Hoosier Roll and it was delicious. The sandwiches and other premade meals looked fabulous and prices were reasonable. There are tables with utensils and condiments available. The store is huge but laid out logically. The staff are friendly and, for the most part, knowledgable about the products. I even signed up for the Perks Card, which I rarely do. I love that this Market district is easily accessible. I'll be back.. tomorrow."
"If you have not been here to eat, you are missing out. Incredible food, homemade fresh salsa. You could really taste the cilantro and onion. Our food came fast and the service was with a smile. Am making this place a weekly destination!"
"i heard this was the best place for fish, walked & saw Blue Crab (i think) although oddly enough i enjoyed everything else, HUGE variety of teas, sauces, different statues, Buddhas, Chinese idols, something by the door, what i thought was pickled celery?fun little shopguy in the back fries up dinners & sides (FROG LEGS)!!!!!!i got a Great small mortar and pestle @ a Great Price"
"I have found the place to get my Christmas tamales! It's Tienda Morelos on Michigan Avenue. This one is called Tienda Morelos 6, because apparently there are at least five other Tienda Morelos in Indy? That's a lot of Tienda Morelos. You see: Tamales are very important to me -- they are a part of my DNA. So finding great tamales in Indy is very exciting, indeed. I happened upon Tienda Morelos because I was visiting a restaurant next door to this one. I popped in and found an amazing (although small) store that sells tamales and also pan dulce, fresh produce, chicharrones, packaged foods and more. All of the signs are in Spanish and everyone speaks Spanish, which is a great sign when you're looking for great Mexican food. The best tamales come from places where the people selling the tamales don't speak English, I've found. To buy the tamales, you need to pay at the front register first. You tell them how many tamales you want, and then you pay for that number. They give you a little slip of paper with the number of tamales you paid for. Then, you take your piece of paper to the tamale counter, and you pick which flavor of tamale you want, and the quantity. I got one pork and one chicken. They were both amazing: lots of masa but also lots of juicy meat. Not too much sauce, but also not dry. These are the best tamales I've eaten in Indianapolis so far. Tamales are just a small portion of the offerings at Tienda Morelos. They have a full panaderia in the store, plus a carniceria and other grocery items. The place is super small and slightly cramped, but the people are friendly and helpful, so it's a nice little place to shop after you've loaded up on tamales."
"Amazing selection of Mexican and Central American goods, including foods, candies, condiments and moreAlso full meat and cooked goods counter and half a dozen tables to eat something yummy right in the store"
"What a fun surprise! We randomly searched "Mexican grocery store" while on the hunt for a special spice and voila! there was Luis' Fresh Market half a mile down the road. I can't believe this spot doesn't have more reviews!A few reasons to add this spot to your bucket list:-part restaurant and part grocery store featuring a butcher counter and plentiful produce (the restaurant was hopping during our visit - they have mangonadas and sweet treats as well!)-the produce looks great and is very reasonably priced-they have chicharrones - 'nuff said, right?-Impressive offering of Latin American cheeses from Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico to name a few. -easy parking-large selection of spices, canned items and dried beansEven if you don't have a grocery list at the moment, this spot is fun enough for an exploration visit alone. Enjoy!"
"Between this store and Namaste Plaza (off of Allisonville Road), I get everything I need for Indian cooking. Desi Bazaar has a slightly smaller selection overall of grocery items than Namaste, but it's conveniently located near my place and has an awesome dessert area. I've been able to get everything I need at Desi Bazaar (including some sweet chutneys and cardamom tea I can't find at Namaste) and now they serve menu items. The owner said the kitchen gets busy on the weekends, so call ahead and then pick up your order."
"Turns out, there is a place for Oaxacan food in Indy:Restaurante Oaxaca2958 Martin Luther King DrAnd it's good, too!"
"Being from south Texas it's hard to find what I need and miss. This place has a little bit of everything. They have a small prepared food area which is good. As well as all the meats you would need like menudo and meat for carne asada etc. They have chorizo homemade which is very good as well as some Mexican cheese. Place is clean organized and staff is friendly and helpful. They also have sweet bread pan dulce fresco which is nice. This is a one stop shop for sure."
"What a cute little shop nestled inside this local Indian grocery! Not only was the establishment clean and super organized, but also had clear pricing and friendly staff. My roommate and I were on a quest to shop for Indian attire, and we definitely found what we were looking for here. We had a helpful sales lady who wanted nothing more than to share her culture with us (ulterior motives, schmulterior motives) and play dress up with us. In the end, we left with satisfied purchased, as well as custom size charts so we knew what fit us if we happened to go to another shop. Great hospitality, affordable pricing, guaranteed return."
"The Gatesville Country Store is a no frills store/restaurant/DNR game checkpoint/and a wealth of information for gold panners and amateur rock hounds. Robin does it all! While the home cooked meals are actually pretty good, my husband and I go for the gold panning(him) and geode collecting(me). We are new at this and since Robin is a geologist she obviously is a wealth of information and loves to share what she knows. There is a creek on the property that she allows people to pan and hunt for fossils and geodes for free. Inside the store is a very nice collection of rocks that have been found in Brown County. The best part about the Gatesville Country Store is Robin herself and her employees. They don't know a stranger and will welcome you with a GENUINE smile and greeting when you walk in the door. Go have lunch there if you are in the area!"
"I felt the urgent need to buy a tortilla press and I see this place often driving down Washington, finally got a chance to shop here. Pretty standard Mexican market, all the essentials - deli, even $1 tacos. Very positive vibes here and everything was in good order. Excited to come back every time I need something very specific."
"Note: I only ate at the restaurant without shopping at the grocery. I didn't realize until I started working on my review that there are Tiendo Morelos restaurants/markets all around town. I don't usually shop at a Mexican grocery unless I am looking for cotija cheese for making elote. However, I entered the grocery because the sign in front of the restaurant entrance said it was closed. I clearly saw people working at the food counter and a customer standing there, so I went through the grocery to see what was going on. Apparently, nobody had removed the sign and left a "caution" cone blocking the door. Anyway, after the weird start, I enjoyed my experience. The colorful dining room has lots of festival streamers hanging from the ceiling and loud Mexican music playing. (Note that the grocery has an equally loud sound system playing something completely different so you get a weird stereo effect that is hard to tune out.)The dining booths go about half way back into the restaurant on both sides. Beyond the left side is a cooking area with a large menu posted over the top. Even though there is a counter at the cooking area, you don't order there. Behind you on the right near the back of the restaurant is a smaller counter with a cash register and a menu booklet that you order from. Once you place your order and pay, you wait and they will bring it out to you. Note that any beverages are sold in bottle form and are self-serve from the cooler next to the order counter. The wait was fairly short considering they prepare the entrees to order. I went with a couple tacos (with the cilantro and white onion) and ordered rice and beans. Apparently the cashier had a little trouble understanding me when I ordered the Asada and Pollo tacos. I was brought out the Asada and Lomo instead. (I was the only customer at the time.) But, instead of sending it back, I like pork loin as well as chicken, so I simply added some green sauce (mild) and a few drops of red (supposed to be hot, but I didn't think it was that hot.)The tacos were excellent. They were served on double layered corn tortillas. I usually prefer flour, but wasn't given an option here. These were the best tasting corn tortilla shells I've had. And the ingredients inside were delicious with the added items being colorfully fresh. The side of beans and rice were forgettable. Not bad, just lacking much texture and flavor. Very bland and not much other than filler when compared to the robust flavor of the tacos. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was pretty clean looking, so given the high quality of flavor, I would recommend stopping by to quench your Mexican food cravings.Review #2698"
"Don't let looks fool you! This place has a little bit of everything including fresh coffee and a restaurant! Vega grocery has all the conveniences of the inside of a gas station, as well as the inside of a grocery store! Needs cigars? They have them. Need milk? They have it. Need a green pepper? They have it. Need a pinata? They have it!! Fair prices for a store in a complete food desert. The staff is super friendly as well! I can't wait to come back and try something at the restaurant!"
"We had a blast taking our family here to pick up some treasures for a Filipino dinner party. We stocked up not only in the impressive produce section but in the on-site bakery as well (don't leave without grabbing some fresh goodies from Tous Le Jous in the front corner of the grocery!). The store features an impressive seafood section, array of freezer offerings, dried beans, grains and snacks from around the world. I'm especially a sucker for Indian freezer food, their tofu varieties and produce. You'll find everything from European condiments to Taiwanese bottled drinks. They have it all. The space also offers at least four to five food stalls offering everything from Korean rice dogs to tofu soup. Give yourself plenty of time to peruse."
"Two reasons why I come to this place: caviar and dadu ice cream. It's the only place in Indy where I can get the best selection of quality caviar. If I'm on a budge, I get a jar of salmon caviar. If I'm feeling bougie, they have osetra without breaking the bank (too much). I also get my ever so favorite Dadu ice cream (caramel only) and it's legit one of the best imported ice creams. The top crust is delicious while the bottom of the cone is always an awesome surprise."
"This place is the real deal! Authentic Mexican food at a low price! The menu is small, but the food is delicious! When I was there, the cashier didn't speak English, but understood my order fine. I am learning Spanish, but know very little at this time. I definitely want to go back to eat here again!"
