"This spot is a gem for breakfast lovers. Food is always fresh, fast, and flawlessly plated (look at my pics!) Every dish looks just as good as it tastes, making it my go-to for an all-day breakfast fix.Service? Impeccable. The servers are attentive, genuinely friendly, and keep the experience smooth from start to finish. I've even had the pleasure of meeting the owner a couple of times, great guy with a clear passion for what he does.Ambiance? Pure nostalgia. It's got that classic diner charm, complete with the comforting aromas of sizzling bacon and fresh coffee brewing.Bottom line: This is hands down my fave breakfast and brunch spot. Whenever I bring visiting family and friends, they leave raving about it. If you haven't been yet, you're missing out!"
"We have made the Governor a staple for our weekend brunches because of the amazing food. It is definitely not your ma-and-pa greasy spoon, but rather a place that serves refined dishes with a cozier atmosphere. The modernized takes on classic dishes offer some intriguing new flavors packaged in a familiar appearance to all...especially the "fromlettes" (frittata / omelette hybrid). The service is consistently great for a diner and willing to run the menu with you. Always follow their advice and you're in for a treat. P.s. don't miss out on the lobster roll, when available. Higher price tag, but absurd amounts of lobster and delicious."

"This spot checked all of the classic diner, breakfast boxes. A simple and straightforward menu, no frills, atmosphere, great service, and budget friendly breakfast options all day. I loved the cozy vibe of the booths and the long counter. The staff was super sweet in handling our group of six despite the tables only fitting four.Inn no ordered two eggs with pepper jack cheese added alongside wheat toast and hash browns. All were delicious and exactly what I hoped for -- and only $6-$7 for the meal. The menu also featured pancakes, omelettes and BLTs. Overall, a sweet diner that I look forward to visiting again in the future."
"My go to place for breakfast. Love the waitresses and the owners. Food is always good and large portions. A lot of menu selections"
"Service very friendly and quick. Food was great and plentiful. Pancake lopped over the edge of the plate, goetta was crispy. Recommend!"
"An older building with quite a few vehicles still in the parking lot at 9:30 am. I've had this place bookmarked for years and haven't been able to get to it until today. I had to fast for a late blood draw this morning so I was past my usual breakfast hunger pains and so I was able to drive the 17 mins. I ordered two eggs medium, hash browns, patty sausage with white toast and strawberry jelly. That's what I usually order for breakfast regardless of the restaurant. Everything tasted great except for the hash browns. To me they seemed cut thicker than usual therefore I think they should have been cooked longer. Or maybe its just me. I ate some of them but not all of them.Service was friendly. I was quickly greeted and told to choose my own table. Drink order was quickly taken and menus left with me. The check came fast too once the meal was over. But the kitchen seemed a tad slow for only five active tables. One was finishing, two of us waiting on food, another ordering, and the last one just sitting down. The food was hot though as expected."
"Stopped in for breakfast. Very pleased with our meal. Coffee was really good - not the normal watered down diner stuff. Had eggs, home fries and toast. The toast was kinda the end of the bag, so the waitress brought us more without our asking about it. Nice gesture. Food cooked properly. Another nice touch (besides the coffee), was that they use Land O Lakes butter, not the cheap margarine kind. Would definitely stop again, if in the area."
"This has been a bookmark for about a year or so. Grateful we tried it tonight. Looks like a great little diner that I assumed served just breakfast/lunch. They do dinner too- and it's fantastic !! We will now come back for breakfast. I ordered a salad and added the crispy. Chicken. Salad tasted fresh and home made dressing. Heirloom tomatoes. Crispy chicken was seriously crispy. And tasted delish. Husband got the beef manhattan. Perfect comfort food on a plate. It tasted like a pot roast with gravy and mashed potatoes and two grilled toasts. I also got the butternut squash soup. OMG. If there is squash soup on the menu, I am ordering it. It did not disappoint. I love soup in the fall and this was such a delight. Filled with all the fall flavor. We split a cookie which was put into an oven to heat up. It tasted like a smore. Thank you to our waitress Angel for such good service."
"This is one of those hidden gems. When you walk in there are booths and tables on two sides of the restaurant. It's fairly small-medium size, but not often super busy with a long wait. The service is always friendly and really fast. If you're 21+, try the mimosa flight-it's a must. I do not like coconut, but the pina colada mimosa is out of this world. I always get the carne asada skillet and it's plenty to fill you up. The prices are reasonable as well. This is great for brunch with girls, the kids, or with a spouse. Let me know what you think about this spot!"
"We love their weekly specials, especially the pancakes. The service is always friendly. Atmosphere is welcoming. Food tastes great. Their baked goods are also amazing and unique. It's our favorite brunch spot on the west side."
"Great find near a Kroger. 3-6pm is happy hour with a nice array of appetizers. The $5 beer cheese with pretzels is great. Hubs had the ribs with smashed herbed potatoes. The ribs are rubbed and sauce is on the side. I had the chicken and waffles. It came with a cayenne maple syrup. The spice level was not too much. They were sandwiches that looked really good and the salads were huge. Stephanie our server kept our tea full. We have enough for a midnight snack or lunch tomorrow."
"This is really the go to location if you are looking to dine in Clay County.A beautifully maintained old diner on Main St, with jukeboxes and local memorabilia, the menu is also diner food, although not particularly old-fashioned.Everything is well done, with friendly service, with an impressive array of menu choices"

A classic converted Big Boy. Got in after closing last night and was going to Uber elsewhere. Fella came out and asked us if we were OK and told him we drove truck and just got in late. He got us a couple of bowls of chicken and rice with a bunch of rolls and wouldn't take our money. Great dinner vibe with a very usa theme. These folks are first class and even garnish the plates.

Fast to be seated and fast to be served. The waiter was incredibly attentive to our table. The food is excellent. This is not "basic" diner fare. This is elevated flavor combinations that are one of the reasons this place excels at what they do. I heard, after arriving, that Guy Fieri stopped by. He has good tastes. This place is awesome. Comfortable ambiance with next-level food. Good food does not have to be expensive, just well prepared. And The Governor does just that.

Aj's has everything my Ron Swanson-of-a-husband loves: simplicity, no-frills, diner coffee, and breakfast foods. It's a seat yourself kinda diner, pick a stool at their bar or a booth. Menus are simple, prices are affordable, and food is cooked to order and fast. We enjoyed a Saturday morning breakfast: Ham & cheese omelet with wheat toast and biscuits & gravy. Add a large OJ and bottomless black coffee and you're looking at less than $15 for two.The waitresses are friendly and the food is hot. Carry out available, as I saw a lot of carry-out orders being picked up. Customers were courteous of wearing masks when coming and going.

Had a taste for French toast and decided to give this spot a try. It's a bit of an older building with carpeted floors, actually charming in a strange way. The server was friendly/ kind enough. I ordered the French toast on regular bread, it was quite tasty, though not hot/ barely warm. The coffee was watered down, so I felt like that was a wasted order :(The potato skins are pretty good, but again wasn't served hot. The waitress did fix this however. I'd probably come back, but please serve the food when it's fresh up and hot... lukewarm food really detracts from the entire experience.

Well, my local dive got a little remodel. New booths and reconfiguration of tables and chairs. Also an addition of Mexican menu items, while still keeping your familiar breakfast and lunch dishes. The menu is even more extensive than before. Everyone can find something to their liking here. The food is still great with generous portions and reasonable prices.

Plenty of people here on a Sunday but no wait so that was a plus. The waitress brought drinks out and took our order in a timely manner. The food was hot, farm fresh and delicious! Better than that other barrel place in my opinion ;)

I'd driven by the Green Hill Diner several times on my way to Nashville, IN. Always lots of cars in the parking lot so I decided to stop in this afternoon to check the place out for a late lunch. I love the look of the place both inside and out. Very clean with a homey feel. Very friendly staff. Alexis, my server, was sweet as sugar cream pie. For my light lunch, I ordered the Grass-fed Steak burger Chili with Onion, Sour Cream, and a Root Beer Float. The chili was great. Tasty and a little different. I liked that it was not loaded up with beans- 4 stars. I absolutely loved the root beer float. 5 star. Alexis made it herself. -- When I asked Alexis her secret, she said that she starts by making an Ice Cream /Root Beer base like a milk shake, adds more ice cream and tops everything off with more root beer. Yum, Yum. I like this place. It was fun and I left feeling good. It felt like family. I'll be back with the wife to try more menu items, and, maybe some of the bakery good. Those cookies in the bakery case looked awesome.

"Went there for breakfast and food and service was great! My husband got the country fried steak and I had the breakfast meat skillet! Restaurant is in an old Dairy Queen, but definitely doesn't feel like a DQ on the inside. Very homey and cozy. Bathrooms were dated but clean. Only critiques is that the recommended tipping on the receipt STARTS at 20% and ENDS at 35%!!! TALK ABOUT AMBITIOUS!!! We obviously tipped well, but starting at 20% is a bit much. Will return!"
"Great home cooking. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great train museum, too. Lots to see and do."
"For a busy Sunday morning, they did the best they could. But we just weren't blown away by the food or service. I got the biscuits and gravy with fried potatoes. I loved the option to put fried potatoes with the gravy, the potatoes were crispy and delicious. I just wish the gravy had more sausage. My fiancé got the Belgium waffle breakfast with over medium eggs and bacon. He said the breakfast was decent overall, the waffle was just a little dry. Our server was super sweet, I felt bad she seemed so rushed and flustered and she forgot to bring the hot sauce we requested."
"1.8 OverallI have had B&N recommended one time since being in Lafayette. Decided to try it why I was waiting on my vehicle to be serviced across the street. The food was all cooked fine, served hot. The coffee was likely the best part aside from a very sweet server. The omelette was the whipped fluffy style, I prefer old fashioned folded omelette. The ingredients were just laid in the center and not incorporated at all into the eggs. The potatoes were well cooked but bland, gravy was void of any flavor and biscuit seemed to be from the previous day and warmed on the griddle, very dense and unremarkable. The whole breakfast was unremarkable to be honest. It was good to finally try it but I don't believe I'll go back. To many other options that are far better."
"Nice , friendly, clean American roadside diner. Prices are very reasonable and good is good. Friendly staff and good menu choices. Give it a try!"
"Food, service and ambiance were excellent! This is an amazing diner. Big menu, food was delicious! Prices are very reasonable. We stop here a lot!"
"We stopped on our way through, excellent food, great service, catfish and hush puppies for me, we will go back."
"Home cooking in a no frills down to earth great place. Had the beef and Mann with green beans. Deleicuous. Could have had more gravy but probably the right amount for the average person. I like my food with plenty of gravy!! My wife had the special.. chicken and noodles. Our server provided us with a sample without being asked which sold the deal. Very good and plenty of potatoes!! Delicious. We ordered a side of French fries.. which were very good but a bit on the small side when we saw others passing our booth.Service was a 5!! Krystal was great!! Very responsive, friendly, fun and just super personable. Great place for a good time with amazing home cooked food and no frills. Well worth the trip and a great value. Will be back!!!"
"If you are looking for a class, simple diner, this is it. You won't find avocado toast on this menu. Instead, you'll find classic down-home goodness. My husband and I had to drop our car for some work in the area and he found this place, so we decided to try it out. On a Wednesday morning, this place is PACKED with regulars. There was a table of about 20 older gentlemen (with a few women too) enjoy a what was clearly a weekly breakfast gathering. The entire atmosphere is: simple home-cooked food and classic, not-in-your-face service. We loved it. I got the two egg breakfast with scrambled eggs, goetta, hash browns (perfectly crispy on the outside and soft inside), and a biscuit. It was the best biscuit I think I've ever had. Maybe fresh out of the oven. YUM!"
"Ok food. Be patient when this place is busy. Under staffed and relying on Miami student workers."
"Large group of us went there to eat this group included 3 wheelchairs and several walkers. Everyone was attentive to all of our needs. The bathrooms were clean and handicap accessible. Food was great for the price!!! Their menu had an assortment to pick from!"
"I discovered this place my second to last day in town. Very nice atmosphere. Lots of antiques and curios. The service was spot on, and the food absolutely delicious. What more needs said?"
"Phenomenal service. Food was delicious. Love the strawberry rhubarb jam. Wife got the avocado toast. I got the veggie omelette. They NAILED those and the hash browns (we like them crispy) were perfect. Got a to go order of the biscuit French toast. Can't wait to try that. Alicia was so great. Forgot to take a photo of the food."
"My family loves Esmeralda's. The food is delicious! My children always ask to eat here. We love their breakfast and dinner."
"While I was expecting an expanded bar and grill-style menu, I was pleasantly surprised to find a lot more. There's a lot of great choices in addition to the usual bar staples. A Cajun chicken with peppers and onions was a cheese lover's delight as it was covered in it. A clam strip special was a great appetizer for something different. Oysters (Friday and Saturdays only, I think) were big and tasty, and are served with some great cocktail sauce and horseradish. French Onion Soup (Fridays and Saturdays only) was very good. Filet with lobster tail (Friday and Saturdays only) was a great value, especially with two sides included. The filet was perfect and the lobster pretty good. The catfish was also pretty good. This is an out-of-the-way place in a semi-residential area, on a scenic piece of property on the river, not far from Lake Shafer. The inside has a bar and dining room with a comfortable rustic feel. Outside, there's a large covered porch, and a few steps down is an open-air area with lounge-type seating. We were visitors to the area and had such a good experience the first night, that we came back the next night with a larger group. We ate outside the first night and inside the second, and after dinner the second night, we had drinks in the backyard area, while enjoying the view of the river and an acoustic performer on the covered porch. On both nights, service was friendly, efficient and not rushed. Separate checks weren't a problem. They offer a number of beers including some local options."
"Awesome dinner with a classic touch. The breakfast is perfect! The biscuits and gravy is a favorite for our family. This place is fairly small but it is filled with personality and excellent service. If you are in the surrounding areas you should check out this small town gem!"
"One of the best meals I've had in a long time. Definately one of the best pork chops I've ever had. Great food, great service, amazing bar upstairs."
"The restaurant is immeasurable in the atmosphere and family friendliness. I would highly recommend eating here as often as possible. They have daily specials and carry out curbside pickup. The Garza family has been great to our community and has earned a Five Star review from me."
"Ask for your breakfast exactly like you want it and that's what you get. Great service. It's a diner and a few things are a little worn but the food and service are great at a great price."
"We tried out this little diner this weekend and I was very happy we did. The restaurant itself is cute and comfortable. We ordered the tenderloin, Sky Hi cheeseburger, onion rings, and fries and split everything. All of it was excellent and reasonably priced. The service was great and the owners are very friendly. I highly recommend you try the Modoc Diner."
"I apologize for not taking pics but when our food was placed on the table, what a delight! The service is excellent and locals know the waitstaff and are very friendly. I got corn beef hash! It's amazing! Completely made in house and is fantastic! My eggs were perfect and the sausage gravy, made in house and is amazing! The cinnamon apples were sweet and palate cleansing and my coffee cup never ran dry. The diner is dated, cozy, and it's loud with happy chatter amongst patrons; many who were greeting each other from tables and quickly breaking into "It's so nice to run into you." I loved this place as it reminds me of the rural country kitchens that I loved as a child and young adult.Come check out this local gem!"
"Sunshine Cafe is a breakfast winner. Today I had the country fried steak and eggs with hash browns and biscuits. The biscuits were light and fluffy and delicious. The sausage gravy is the best. My son had bacon and eggs over easy and pancakes. Everything was hot and delicious. Out services was on it. She made sure we had everything we needed and that everything came out on time. She brought a little package of teddy grahams for my grandson to snack before the food came. As a midwestern cafe, Sunshine is at the top of the list for good food, great service in a clean diner setting."
"The Rohde's Family Diner is a locally owned restaurant that recently moved to its new location. The new pristine dining room is much larger and can accommodate more guests. The decor is country with country music playing in the background. Holly, our server, was friendly, engaging and attentive. She checked on us regularly. Food came out super quickly. They offer daily lunch specials and have a standard breakfast and lunch menu. I ordered a vegetable omelette that was filled with onions, peppers and tomatoes and my choice of cheese. The omelette was large, light and perfectly cooked. The star of the breakfast for me was the marbled rye toast which was delicious. My husband had the Rise and Shine breakfast which was a hearty meal with two perfectly cooked eggs, a homemade biscuit, hash browns and a meat which he chose bacon. He would have preferred the bacon to be a little more crisp, but the breakfast was, overall, a winner. The assorted jellies were a hit. Price were really reasonable. They were half full during our early morning visit, but the noise level is high. The restaurant is an easy/fast two miles off the highway. There is also plenty of parking around the building. The restrooms are super clean and nice."
