Tim B. "Covington, KY is a super cool place - who knew? After a rough morning in that city across the river, I walked across the imitation Brooklyn Bridge into Kentucky, and walked over here looking for a place to decompress. Mind you, this is about 1PM on a Thursday, so not everything was going to be open. But Gypsy's was. Naturally it wasn't super busy at the time, just the bartender and two lovers on the back patio, but it was chill, and the drafts were working, and there was sports on television, and nobody to concern troll me. I only wish this place were closer to California."

Sara W. "My review is a little overdue as I was here in April of 2022. I chose The Coterie online because they had a Beyond burger on the menu, and the person I dined with didn't want to eat at the other places I found with vegan options. This was a bit of a dive bar more than a restaurant, which was fine, but it wasn't quite what I was expecting for a birthday meal. It'd be a cool place to visit on a date or with friends on a weekend though. The Beyond burger was good. I just didn't realize it came with cheese, as I didn't see that on the menu, and asked for it without. I also left off the aioli and asked for mustard. A little strange to me that a Beyond burger would come with dairy. Server didn't understand my request exactly. It seemed a little overpriced at the time, but now in 2023, it costs the same as going to BK but tastes much better. (Dang inflation is killing me.) Food in baskets. Nothing fancy. Pretty good fries. I can't remember the name of it now, but I had a beer from NW Indiana which I chose just because it was from "Da Region." Decent selection of draft beers as I recall with several from different parts of the state. My dining companion had a Moscow Mule but didn't really care for how it was made. The ambience and decor were interesting. I especially liked the neon state of Indiana which changed colors. The bar glasses and plastic water cups had far out there and funny sayings on them. I remember the restroom being small and having a line. I believe they had a whiskey bar upstairs which I did not check out. In a pretty convenient location in downtown Kokomo. Easy walk to street parking and other establishments. I don't mind divey. It wasn't bad. It just didn't particularly stand out as a favorite. I might return at some point for the beer and the sandwich as well as the sign. I'd rather sit at the bar next time instead of the tall table we had. They had a long booth toward the front underneath the Indiana sign as well."

Jessi C. "I hate using the phrase "hidden gem" because it's such a cliché, but it's the only way to describe the Lucky Turtle! This speakeasy is hidden behind a liquor store and an Arby's in Finneytown, and it is one of the chillest beer and bourbon bars in Cincinnati. They have an amazing draft list (23 beers on tap, many of them local and seasonal!), 60+ bourbons, and many more beers in bottles/cans. I was there on 4/20 (lol) and they had the Wanna Get Rye red IPA with CBD from 50 West, plus cool drink specials like the Stone + NOFX Punk in Drublic can for $3. If you're looking for rare/unique beers and friendly, knowledgeable bartenders, this is your place. The inside is no frills. They have a few games, darts, and a small outdoor space with corn hole. But this place is more about the drinks than it is about the decor, and I appreciate that."

Kelly W. "My friend and I paid a visit to Pies and Pints to sample their beers and pizzas. It was right before dinner time the venue wasn't busy - score! First up, we selected a flight of draft beers to share to help us change gears from work. It turns out that they've got a really wide selection of drafts available, so we had trouble narrowing it down to four; with a little input from our very helpful server, we pulled the deed off and then proceeded to order dinner. You can order either pies or slices, so we got a pie to share and a slice each. When the pizza arrived, we dug in; The crust was crispy with a decent amount of chew, and the sauce was pretty good; it had a nice blend of both spicy and sweet flavor, and it wasn't too heavy on the tomatoes. For me, the slice turned out to be a much better choice than the street corn pie we picked. Not that there was anything wrong with the street corn pizza, it's just that the flavor profile of the toppings didn't do it for me. That said, the quality of the crust, the sauce, and the toppings was more than satisfactory, and the beers were great - I look forward to a return visit to try something different!"

Antelope Club

Antelope Club

Mike F. "Social clubs are making a big comeback. In a world that seems to reject the ways of yesteryear, it is odd to imagine people craving the social habits of their parents or grandparents. Or does it? With a generation of young adults who have been electronically socialized, bona fide social interactions are nearing rock bottom. Folks want a place where everyone knows their names; they want to see old friends while meeting new ones, and they still want to have a place to get a hearty meal. And...and, dammit, adults want to drink alcohol and smoke while doing it. In Indianapolis, that place exists, and it is thriving. Welcome to the Antelope Club. The Antelope Club has a long history in the city, with its first origins dating back to 1947. Being officially incorporated in 1956, the club moved into its current home in 1964. Managed and operated by Brad Klopfenstein, the club continues to make improvements in both facilities and offerings. When I asked Brad what he thought the public should know the Antelope Club, he gave me the "Oh, hell, where do I begin?" look. He quickly touted the friendly and welcoming nature of the club and its members (affectionately knows as "Lopers"), the wide variety of beers served, the "deep" whiskey selection, great food, and the cigar lounge. I agreed with him - all of those things are reasons why I am a member. It is not difficult to become a member of the Antelope Club. All you need is to have the signatures of two members-in-good-standing, been born at least 21 years ago, and pay a measly $150. Once you've met those requirements, and the board approves your application, congratulations, you're a Loper. We're not a group of elitists; we don't care about your gender, what color you are, what religion you practice (or don't), with whom you go to bed, or your political persuasion. Just be yourself - unless you're a jerk...then you might see the door. The Antelope Club is packed with amenities and activities. As aforementioned, the club has a great selection of everything alcoholic...and non-alcoholic. The food is fantastic, and Chef Vee prepares everything to absolute perfection. I think that his burgers, famous throughout the city, are second-to-none. He even prepares a special, foodie-approved dinner on Saturday nights. The prices on everything are unbelievably reasonable. The cigar lounge is my favorite aspect of the club. With a humidor packed with fine tobaccos, you'll never have to stock up. Plus, members are welcome to bring their own cigars (and pipes, in my case) to enjoy in the lounge, bar, or on the balcony. The club discourages smoking in the dining room and forbids it in the upstairs portion of the club. Accompanied minors are also allowed on the upper level. The club holds a charity gaming license, and it offers several weekly cash drawings, Yahtzee, and pull tabs. Excluding the latter, gaming is for members only. Even if you lose, your money still goes to a good cause! The Antelope Club is open to the public on weekdays from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM for lunch. This gives the prospective member a perfect chance to get to know the place.Take a break from your electronic social life and head over to the Antelope Club. Once you're a Loper, you'll thank me. Pronk on!"

We were looking for a place in Covington with outdoor seating and heaters to go to after dinner and came across this little gem. The staff was super friendly and the place is cozy. They also have a back patio outdoor area with 3-4 tables it looked like. The inside is small, but also has space for 3-4 tables socially distanced.Reasonably priced wines and beer and you can do flights! I love trying a bunch of different wines so flights were a perfect option. I tried a flight with 2 red and 2 whites. They had a Montepulciano on tap so I had to try it! I don't normally see many places with a Montepulciano where the majority are brim the Abruzzo region of Italy. For my flight I had the La Vite Montepulciano, Lobetia Tempranillo, Pratsch GrunerVettliner, and the Christophe Coquarf Rose. I hope management considers this moving forward. My boyfriend (who is a snob when it comes to cocktails) got the Manhattan, and he enjoyed it. I got the Marilyn Monroe and the Espresso Martini. Also I love hustling anyone who thinks I "look like I can't play." WHAT?! Anyway - Old Towne Tavern has the best set of darts I have seen in this city and I have probably seen 20+ set ups. They are labeled by numbers and they have open tournament Wednesday nights and leagues you can join. Why I love the darts here? Because the boards are in reallllly good shape. They are real dart boards and made out of sisal fibres. Not cork that cracks all over the place, or worse PLASTIC - yuck. The darts are also in really amazing shape. In fact, I have never seen some of the grips on darts like they have here. Outside of the great dart set-up the space is not much to look at, pretty standard. Although I will say they were repainting everything when were here so it's nice to see the owners taking care of the place. Happy hour is .50cents off everything. Drinks are already cheap. I think my titos and tonic was $5 bucks, and the beers were $3.50. Seriously impressed, and I am already planning my next trip back."
