Today is the final day of the Boone County Fair! What I like most is that the fair is small and easy to get around. The fair is perfect for taking small children to see farm animals and learn about farming. Oh, admission and parking are free! We saw dairy cows, llamas, pigs and cats during our visit. There is an exhibit of old tractors and farm equipment. In the exhibit hall, are open show baked goods, sewing and crafts, art, antiques, garden produce and flowers. You can see the best way of what Boone County produced this year. There are a few food trucks with funnel cakes and corn dogs. The Beehive restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with great prices on hearty fare served by the Boone County Extension Homemakers. A pork tenderloin is only $4. People are Midwest friendly. The Fair princesses passed out little tiaras to the kids. Parking is easy with lots surrounding the grounds. Mostly everything is paved so strollers and wheel chairs can get around. You just can't beat a day at the fair.

We were invited for a cookout organized by Boone county sheriff in honor of Jacob Pickett. The event seemed well organized, as you enter the building volunteers were there to direct you. It's a heart warming and emotional event- people gathering to contour he legacy of deputy officer Jacob Pickett. There's food, activities such as corn- hole tournament, auctions, and meeting people who gathered together for the same purpose.I only saw one bathroom when I was here- maybe I'm not looking hard enough, it was crowded and there's always a line for the bathroom especially for the ladies

I was at the Boone County 4-H Fairgrounds for the Savor Lebanon Beer, Wine, and Food Festival. I honestly had a great time! It was a smaller event so the lines for beer were never too long. We migrated around to different brews for about an hour. The parking was also super easy! After making our way back to the correct building and lot, we parked immediately and went in. There was no charge for parking, that's always a perk! Next year they should really promote the event a little more. I had not heard of it until the day of and got my ticket. If I would have known earlier, I'm sure more friends would have joined. You should also bring your own crackers or pretzels! We did not have any and I ended up eating a bow of chips from a vendor. Great snacks, but it would have been nice to have both! We also thought it would be nice for the breweries to clean out the glasses after each sample.
