Love this place for breakfast. The service is top notch and the setting is quaint. Home cooked food and pastries available. If you're visiting Metamora this is a must stop.

The Blue Umbrella Bistro is located in the historic town of Metamora, a Franklin County canal town with a whopping population of right around 188 people. It's very much a low-key tourist town with the Whitewater Canal right in the middle of it and an aura that definitely makes you think of one of those small towns where you go antique shopping and listen to old timey music. As a fun fact, Yelper Rick G. and his wife (and less active but still fellow Yelper Holly G) used to own a music shop in the town and this Yelper owned a small bookstore within that music shop. Rick G. is actually in the midst of planting a small church in the town. Back to Blue Umbrella. This is very much your typical Metamora business. It's primarily opened on weekends (I believe it will open for some specical events) with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday hours. They focus on breakfast, lunch, and baked goods and are particularly known for their amazing cinnamon rolls. You can also get some other goods here with, you guessed it, most of them falling within the framework of a country theme. Interestingly, I find the food very reasonably priced but the goods perhaps a tad high. As has been noted, the Blue Umbrella has a limited menu that can change from event to event. They actually have a fairly active social media page. One of the benefits of having surgery this past Friday has been folks dropping off various little goodies. A Blue Umbrella cinnamon roll arrived today and it has been absolutely heavenly. If you've never been to Franklin County, it's actually a very beautiful area. It can get really busy during the Metamora Christmas Walk, but it's a really unspoiled area with water, nature, a few trails, and nearby Brookville that is a bit more populated. It's a great day trip. If you visit after this next week, you can even go to church on Sundays at Boundless Ways of Grace and meet Yelper Rick G. While The Blue Umbrella is not too bad in terms of accessibility, the town itself is pretty hit and miss. It's a much older town and Franklin County is a more impoverished area. So, there aren't a lot of upgrades. It's very much a historic area. So, while I can't go every place around here I definitely still enjoy the occasional day trip and visit to Blue Umbrella.

Blue Umbrella Bistro is a casual dine in or carryout restaurant located in the heart of the quaint community of Metamora. Just about everything that they serve is homemade. I would categorize their offerings as classic comfort food. From sandwiches on homemade bread to classic breakfasts to some of the best homemade cinnamon rolls you will ever eat - there's something for everyone at the Blue Umbrella!

This gem is located in Metamora on the Ducks crossing side. After doing some Christmas shopping we were hungry and ate at this diner. The menu is limited but it all looked delicious. We ordered the sloppy joe 2 for 6.00 dollars. What a deal. Also grabbed a bowl of corn and potato chowder. Very comforting. They have lots of homemade desserts blackberry cobbler pumpkin pie and cinnamon rolls

Wow, what a treat! In the quaint little "Canal Town" in Metamora, IN we found a real gem. Incredible breakfast, everything was fresh from the cinnamon roll (to die for) to the French Toast Casserole (should be a law against something this good). The owner and staff went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. As my wife and I travel across the United States 5th is will be one of our top five local restaurants! We wish the owner and staff the very best of luck - if/when we make it back this way we'll definitely stop in again!
