I can't believe I've lived in Fort Wayne for 10 years and never been to Black Canyon restaurant! I absolutely loved the warm, cozy atmosphere--it felt so inviting. The service was top-notch, and I really appreciated how polished and professional the waitstaff looked. The food was fantastic! We started with a dozen oysters, which were big and incredibly fresh. The fish and chips were also delicious, especially the crispy French fries. And the cocktails? Absolutely amazing!I'll definitely be back soon to explore more of the menu.

Service was acceptable, probably because we knew our waitress--acceptable but not outstanding. I had the berry fruity salad with grilled chicken, which was acceptable, but again, not unique or interesting by any means. Overall, I'd say it is pricey and not a place I need to return to anytime soon.

This restaurant was very busy on a Saturday around 430. I was a little disappointed in their beer/cider selection. I think the food was good but overpriced for what it was. I wanted the short rib stroganoff but they had already sold out of it. I opted for the Brussel and berry salad as a fallback. The apple cider vinegar dressing was very watery, I wish it was a bit thicker. There were a good amount of berries and nuts on it and the chicken was cooked well. We also got spinach and artichoke dip for the table and that was good. The service was spotty as they were very busy. The waitress did not have many recommendation's or substitutions options.

No one wants to cook on the evening before Thanksgiving, so we made reservations at Black Canyon for a family meal instead. What a great decision! We started with the cornbread and the onion dip - both were fantastic and didn't last long on our table. For my entree, I enjoyed the filet mignon tacos. They were accompanied by beans and rice and the entire plate was generously portioned. A very spicy sauce came on the side, and it was a great compliment to the tacos. Others at the table had the ribeye and loved it, the meatloaf was another favorite and one of us had the southwest egg rolls as an entree that hit the spot. The service was friendly and polite, but the food was slow to come out of the kitchen. Very slow. We will be back the next time we are visiting Fort Wayne.

I've have been going to black canyon for several years now. The food here is pretty good, I would say average for a more upscale restaurant. They offer a mixed dining experience with a blend of noteworthy and average elements. The upscale ambiance sets the stage for a sophisticated meal. The menu features standout dishes, such as their prime rib sandwich and large salads, which impresses with succulent flavors. However, not all options reach the same culinary heights; some dishes fall into the realm of merely okay - like the French onion soup and burger. I also wish they never would've gotten rid of the scotch eggs. The recent sluggish service the past few visits is a noticeable downside, detracting from the overall dining experience. While the staff is polite, the delayed service may test your patience. Despite this, the restaurant's upscale atmosphere and standout dishes make it worth considering for those seeking a refined culinary experience, albeit with occasional hiccups in service efficiency. Overall, a good pick on the north end of Ft Wayne and a regular place for a good meal.

First time at BC... We've been by it a bunch since moving to FW and wanted to give it a try. All-in-all, good but not exceptional. While the food was very good, the service was "meh" (at best) which torpedoed the overall experience. We stopped in at 11:30 for lunch on a Friday... They weren't overly busy, but steady. We weren't really greeted by the hostesses (kind of weird), but we were sat immediately at a nice booth. The inside of BC is cool and very "country modern" (hence the name); they also have a really nice outdoor seating area with a fire place. Our server was pleasant, but not really friendly... Kind of had the quintessential "RBF look", didn't introduce herself, looked annoyed/disinterested (maybe she was just having a bad day), and not attentive - I would have expected more from a restaurant on the higher end of the FW food spectrum. Aside from the service, our food was solid though... The burger itself was excellent (although we weren't big fans of the brioche bun they used) and my home supervisor's prime rib sandwich was also very good. The one annoying part about the food was we couldn't substitute the fries for a salad or different vegetable side... We had to add a salad to the order vs. being able to substitute (I don't know why restaurants do that?).Nonetheless , BC was alright... Fairly priced for the food quality, but the service was subpar - We probably won't go back, as we very much prefer Baker Street and their service is always superior.

Had dinner with some old friends. Great conversation kept us going while waiting. Sat down at 6pm. Ordered drinksDrinks arrived 6:18. Ordered apps and dinner. Wontons, spinach and artichoke, burger and seafood something. Apps, and dinner, both arrived at 6:42. Nice....Food was obviously under a heat lamp too long. See pictures. Wait staff went through motions. Had to walk to kitchen area for some mayo. Drinks were made well and the dip was good.

Arrived and was told 30 minute wait. Seated about 15 minutes later. Greeted warmly by Amanda! Took drink order, then good. That prime rib was out of this world. One of the best I have had in a long time. Oysters were a bit big for me however... ate them all. Briny but sweet. Wedge salad and french onion soup for one. Tasted great! Hamburger with cheese and bacon was a hit. A few got the filets and were tremendous. Whole place is dark wood and quite cozy despite the high noise level. The fries are to die for! Nothing better than crisp shoestrings!!! Highly recommend. Ask for Amanda. She is fabulous.

Got the prime rib sandwich with shoestring fries. Pretty good meal overall. I would go back but it's not something that I would crave or brag about.

We haven't been to Black Canyon for a couple of years. Today we decided to try it again. I remembered it as being a little higher scale. We were seated off in a side area that was very cold, with very loud hard rock music. I was so disappointed. The prices are still those of a more upscale restaurant but the atmosphere is that of a sports bar. We won't be returning.
