Very friendly staff and maintenance. Best apartment complex I've lived in and if I have a problem it's always fixed in the same day! It's very quiet here also.

My wife and I just recently moved out of Barrington Estate Apartments after about a year of living there (Went to a different city). Overall, our experience was ok for the time we were there. The biggest factor in moving there was the price. Based on their current rates, I think we just got lucky and were able to move in during a low in rent prices. We stayed in a 2 bd 1 ba townhome for about $630. This was the lowest we found in the area and there were some good reasons why it was so cheap. The apartments themselves are very dated. I believe the property was built around the 50s or 60s. It doesn't appear much updating has gone into them. We had a couple issues with the apartment during the time we lived there, both of them involved leaking water. The toilet on the first floor would leak constantly. It was fixed in a reasonable amount of time. The 2nd issue was with the washer drain on the 2nd floor. Apparently there was an issue with a pipe fitting on the washer drain and water started pouring into our downstairs hall closet. Nothing valuable was ruined, but it did start smelling pretty bad. They were quick on stopping the leak, but not on fixing the water damage. At the time, I didn't care when they repaired it as long as we didn't have to pay for any damages. We just didn't use that closet anymore. It took about 2 months for them to send someone out to fix the dry wall in the closet and we weren't charged for any of it (thankfully). We really didn't have any issues with anything else in the apartment. The bedrooms were decent sized and it was nice having a little fenced in back patio area. The complex was fairly quiet and we kept mostly to ourselves. Every once in a while we would have neighbors playing music late into the night during the week, which was frustrating, but it didn't happen too often. When we first moved in, the roads in the complex were full of pot holes. It was bad enough to the point where you would let other cars pass you so that you could get around them. When we moved in in June, management said the complex would be paved in August. Well, August came and went. So did September, October, and most of November. They paved in late November I believe, which seems like a terrible idea and it was. There were days when they had to stop working because it snowed. They did eventually get it paved and everything was fine. There was a lot of turnover in the leasing office so it was difficult getting anything accomplished unless you talked with the Property Manager, who I will say was very nice.Overall, I didn't mind living here. It wouldn't be my first choice, but for the right price we made it work. It is in a great area. You have really quick access to 465 and Meridian. Castleton is only 15 minutes away and on a good day you could get downtown in 25. I would've given Barrington a 3-star rating, but I bumped in down to 2 based on our experience with the final bill. We were separately charged by Barrington for gas usage the last month we were there and this was taken out of our deposit. This should not have happened as we paid for gas and electricity separately and Barrington billed us for everything else. Well they claimed they received a bill from the gas company on our apartment even though I was able to supply them with our gas bills for the prior 3 months, it was never given back.I don't think I would live here again, unless it was a necessity. However, Barrington did serve its purpose for us and I am glad we were able to find a place that inexpensive.

I am not a resident at Barrington Estates and I never will be. I recently went in to get information, view an apartment and possibly become a tenant. Upon arriving the lady working in the front office asked for my and my husband's names and asked what price range we were looking for. We told her. She then asked if I had called previously because she had someone else with that name call her. I said no. She then asked if I was sure because she just had someone call with my name in the past week and it's not a popular name. Again, I said no. She then starts looking through all her notes and KEPT INSISTING I called, basically implying that I was lying to her, WHICH I WAS NOT!! I had NEVER called the complex or spoken to anyone working there. She then did everything in her power to convince us NOT to move into the complex. She told us how nothing is included in the rent and the utilities would run us around $400/mo which would put us over budget. Here's the problem with that, she never asked us what our monthly expense budget was, she asked us what amount we wanted to stay under for rent. Had she asked for our monthly expense budget she would have known we were able to afford that place just fine. So here's what I have concluded from this interaction: she took one look at us and decided we were not a good fit for her community. She decided we couldn't afford the apartment and proceeded to tell us that in so many words. We were told a higher amount for rent than what it actually is, and she never told us about their current specials. She did nothing to make us feel welcome and in fact made us feel very uncomfortable. If you see this same review elsewhere, yes it is the same person because I want EVERYONE to know how unprofessional this woman was.

We moved into the apartment last June and upon move-in, we found an apartment with unattached doors, painted vent covers (which we ended up spending our own money to replace), painted circuit breaker, painted cable hookups, painted water heater, broken screens, broken shelves in our fridge, a broken dishwasher (we discovered that when it flooded our kitchen and damaged our dishes), and about 10 other issues. It took 5 months to get those items resolved, especially because the staff kept cancelling our service requests, or completing part of an item and then closing it out. The property has looked bad since the start; the weeds in our backyard were about 3 feet tall at the time of our move-in, grass is frequently let go until it's about 10 inches before it is mowed (and then it is not mowed well), there is trash everywhere, there are giant potholes all over the place, and there are speed bumps so tall that they actually do damage to cars (we were told that would be fixed several months ago, but it hasn't been). There have been several maintenance employees in the last year, but none of them last, and it wasn't uncommon to go 2 or more weeks without any maintenance employees, but nobody in the office seemed to care. We have had so many issues of being told things would get done and they never are, but the property manager always puts the blame on maintenance or the property owners; she came on untrained and still hasn't completed training to have the job she currently has. One day we went outside to find garbage all over our car (presumably from one of the businesses on the other side of the fence, but management didn't care). Our neighbors smoke, and when they do, our house fills with the smell of smoke for hours, every single time. In January, we got home one day to find birds (dead and living) around our apartment that had come through the dryer vent (which had no cover) and into the apartment walls through a hole, which was actually on our move-in list to have patched up, but they just never did it (still haven't). They wouldn't do anything though; they waited 3 weeks to have a pest control group come out because it wasn't a big enough issue to them (even though we had to find somewhere else to live those 3 weeks); they finally started working on the issue after threat of a lawsuit. We knew there were birds in the walls because we heard them crawling around on the first day of it, and they tried to refuse to get rid of any birds in the wall unless there was a smell but we made them cut a whole and remove several dead birds. Another time, our lock broke from age and maintenance wanted to treat it as a non-emergency and go home for the night, and tried to tell us to just deal with not having a lock overnight--which we would never do in this neighborhood that has almost no security lights (but it's of course not the property manager's job to care about that). Most recently, we found out that maintenance had gone into our apartment without reason and had gone into our bedrooms; the maintenance staff apologized for the confusion but the property manager was rude and never apologized; she sent the issue on to the property owners and in doing so, made some rude comments about us, which the property owner accidentally sent back to us when they told us they would allow us to terminate our lease without penalty, which we gladly accepted because this place has been unbelievably horrible; when we confronted the property manager about the rude email, she informed us she didn't feel like it was rude "because it was the truth". The untrained property manager will continue to make excuses for anything people complain about and ignore any other issues, while she focuses on throwing pizza parties and updating facebook. The neighbors here are nice and just as frustrated with management as we are.

I lived in Barrington Estates for two years! In those two years they had no maintenance people. They also never came and fixed issues, when they finally got maintenance people! They would only put a bandaid on the issues. They don't pick up trash on the community like they should. Out of the two years living there Barrington has had several management staff and each one doesn't properly follow the same guidelines!!! It was the worst places I've ever lived!!! Before moving in I would do more research. The apartments are so outdated it's ridiculous for the price they want you to pay for renting. The management team is so oblivious to what they need to do with their tenants. I would really reconsider my options when entering into a lease at Barrington Estates! I've heard years ago they were great apartments but at this moment in time it's trash! Drive around the community and see for yourself just don't take my word for it. Also they are going to show you the best apartment they have but when it's time to move in do a thorough walk through!
