Our first time to Atterbury Shooting Complex. Shot our 9mm, 45 pistols and AR15 rifle. Much fun.. a great staff who did an excellent job teaching us about the range rules and safety procedures. A nice place to shoot and reasonably priced. Loved the outdoor shooting experience. Friendly people and a wonderful experience. I'll be back.

Great public range not far off I-65, easy to find, easy parking, tons of lanes. Facilities are clean, staff is organized, shooters are friendly, lanes are spacious. Best public range for a huge radius! Prices are very fair for lane time and targets. You can also change lanes freely, just go inside the office when you want more or less distance. The range officers are very strict, which is a huge positive! Knowing nobody is touching their shooting stations while I am down range is comforting. If you aren't familiar, its like any public range, load/unload firearms at shooting stations when the range is hot, otherwise hang back behind the safety line. Clean brass / change targets when the range is cold. Be considerate & clean up your own brass!

The staff is super friendly and knowledgable about guns, etc.The safety officer on duty has always been very friendly and willing to help, explain anything asked. The last time I was there he was helping a couple next to me who was new to shooting and teaching them some things about their recent purchase. In the past one of them took the time to help me sight in a new scope. The prices for the range time are the best in Indiana from what I can tell. So if you are anywhere near this place. Make this your go-to place to shoot. Luv this place and the people working here.

Friendly staff and range officers. Its a good safe place to shoot. The concrete baffles make some firearms literally uncomfortable to shoot or shoot next too due to the concussion being exacerbated by the baffles. In the summer the sun is on your back when shooting so you will literally sweat bullets while shooting. All and all its a very nice range complex with reasonable pricing. $7.00 a hour is not too bad. The range officers make sure no one is doing anything unsafe. I hate to say it but there are some idiots out there. The pock marks on the concrete baffles can attest to that.

I really enjoy going to this range. They go out of their way to make sure it is a safe environment for everyone that walks in the door. They have fantastic lane prices. We always take our own guns, so I am unsure of the rental prices. A little plus to this location, especially when driving down from Indy, it is really close to the Outlet Mall. So when those cute little jeans don't fit anymore, you can safely take out your diet frustration and then go buy some quality fat jeans at the Banana Republic Outlet.

I've been pistol shooting at indoor ranges (Shoot Point Blank Greenwood; Indy Arms Company Indianapolis; Wisconsin Firearms Training Center--Brookfield, WI), and wanted to try shooting outdoors. There are two outdoor ranges within a reasonable distance of southern Indianapolis--Atterbury Shooting Complex (Edinburgh, IN) and Deer Creek Shooting Range (Cloverdale, IN). I visited Atterbury on a Sunday afternoon around 1-ish pm, August 2018. I intended to try their 50-yard rifle range to test my long-distance shooting with my 6-inch 0.45 ACP long slide 1911 pistol (I regularly shoot from 25 yards indoors with reasonable shot group precision), but I was "encouraged" by the attendant to try their pistol range first. The pistol range portable target rigs need work. The one I had in my shooting lane was missing a leg, and was difficult to move and set up down range. I was glad I asked about how to prop up paper targets, and the attendant gave me thumb tacks to post my paper targets. Unfortunately my targets are 23x35-inches, and the bottom half of the paper target blew around in the wind. You must bring tape to attach the lower half of the paper target to the metal side posts to keep your target steady. The range safety officers at the indoor ranges I've shot at, were just as strict as the RSOs at Atterbury, but the RSOs at Atterbury are very much like military drill instructors in their approach to issuing commands (the ones I had were impolite and discourteous). I'm a prior U. S. Army service veteran, but, as a civilian money-paying patron--I expect courtesy and professionalism from all range safety officers--since that's been my experience at Greenwood Shoot Point Blank, Indianapolis Indy Arms Company, and Wisconsin Firearms Training Center (Brookfield, WI).I don't reload my spent ammunition casings, so I'm used to sweeping my brass down range to keep others from tripping over them from behind the firing line. I tend to keep my area clear of casings. After firing 268 0.45 ACP rounds over an 1-1/2 hour period I was finished for the day. I waited during a cease fire to retrieve my targets and leave. As I was packing up to leave, I was commanded to pick up all of my brass casings that I'd swept down range. There were no posted signs (that I saw), nor were there explicit instructions in the range safety rules to police my own brass. Had there been signs to do so, I would have. Without hesitation, I policed the casings and placed them in the blue bucket, and left. For my next outdoor range experience, I will try Deer Creek in Cloverdale. Deer Creek's range cost rates and rules are the same, except now I am aware of how outdoor range shooting is managed. Deer Creek is a much newer facility and only a little farther from southern Indianapolis than Atterbury.

I took my wife here today. She has never shot a gun - pistol or rifle. We were starting on the pistol range and I asked one of the range officers if he could give her some instruction. He saw I only had 9 MM and brought out a small 22 which fit her hand perfectly. He provided full instruction and assistance for her and she was eventually using the 9 MM hitting center target better than I. We switch to a 50-yard rifle range for her first experience with an AR15. She did really well for her first experience honing in to hit center target multiple time.It was amazing to see her become comfortable and I believe this was fully because of the staff's attention/instruction to her and others needing similar assistance and safety overall. In fact, all staff members were so courteous and that made our experience most exceptional as we were there for about 3 hours! We felt completely safe during the cease fires for checking or changing targets. We will definitely use the facility in the near future. Restrooms are clean, prices are reasonable, ranges are great, staff is great - need I say more.Simply following the safety instructions and enjoy yourself.Jeff M.

Great Place! Far cheaper than any indoor range and the Staff is Great !It had been a few years since my last visit. So long ago it was before the new complex. My children are just now at that age to introduce them to shooting 12 & 8 yrs old. I was apprehensive at first to take them since there seems to be so many strict indoor ranges. Anyhow they were respectful and they didn't intrude on our time together. My 8 yr old had to have a lower target so that he didn't hit the concrete baffle overhead. They jumped right in to help and were so courteous. They run a safe range and I respect that. My kids won't stop asking "When are we going back ?"
