Amelia's is well loved for good reason. Their freshly baked breads and pastries are always delicious. A loaf of Amelia's bread makes a great low energy contribution for a pitch in dinner when we're short on time. I love the chocolate buckwheat cookie (GF). It has such a unique texture- rich, chewy, flaky, and airy all at the same time, with the perfect sea salt finish. The breakfast cookie (GF) and the financiers (GF) are also great. The classic chocolate chip cookie is my husband's favorite.

So picture it, July 11th, 2024. You are spending a fun day enjoying the random stops in Indianapolis, waiting for a concert. It's a little cloudy, so you go and scope out a park and a couple of shops before dinner. And then the heaviest rain you can imagine hits so you hide under the overhand of a tiny lil bakery whose staff ask you to come in and keep dry. We got to see quite a bit of shop goods and tons of bread and bakery items. They asked what our tastes were, I was eyeing a jalapeño blueberry corn muffin while my sister got the darkest chocolate brownie that I had ever seen. Both were especially delicious and brought smiles to our faces. The employees were kind and knowledgeable about bread. And I love good bread. 5s

Just wanted to update my original review because it was eight years old! Since the last time I wrote about this Amelia's bakery location, the entire world has been in and out of a global pandemic and two American presidential elections. But most importantly: I finally tried Amelia's bread loaves, which is what I wished for myself in my original review! Dreams sometimes come true. You can't go wrong with the sourdough loaf, which is what I bought today. I also learned today that they sell milk bread by the loaf, which I'll definitely be back to try. Because I was here buying bread, I also grabbed a cinnamon sugar cookie. In the display case, it looked like the cinnamon sugar cookie would be ultra satisfying, and it was! It was tender in the middle and crispy on the edges. Amelia's knows how to strike that chewy-crispy-cookie balance.Service is quick -- it helps to know what you want here. But even if you don't, that's OK. I was there to find a bread gift for someone who just had surgery, and the kind people behind the counter helped me make up my mind. (Get the plain loaf, maybe not the garlic loaf this time.)

Always love this joint! Still my favorite location, Stutz feels too commercial and the Brookside spot isn't fun. The loaves are still as amazing as you remember. The granola albeit pacing inflation is my favorite, I freaking drink the stuff from a cup.

The prices have gone up over the years, but it is still well worth a stop. The quality is still second to none. This time, I had the ham and cheddar biscuit, and it was perhaps the best savory biscuit I have had. You could actually see the bits of ham in the bread, and the bread had the perfect texture. It was nice and soft rather than crumbly like so many other shops. Service was quick though patient with me trying to make my selection. Someday I will have to try something from the grocery part of the store, but of the pastries, I've yet to have anything I didn't like

I don't know much in life, but I know one thing, Amelia's makes the best damn scones/biscuits in Indiana. It's a must visit when I'm in the city. The shop on Virginia is so quaint and the service rocks.

Great like neighborhood bakery. Al way fun rotating baked delights behind the glass to choose. Get your favorite loaf of bread. Fridge is full of wonderful items like curried chicken salad, tuna salad, pickled onions, cheese spreads. They also carry a some produce if you need some garlic or greens. Add a bottle of wine to your order. Also GREAT hours... 8-8 every day!

Great pastries. You just can't go wrong with whatever you get but the laminated dough of a croissant or other pastry is *chef's kiss*. Used to have less friendly service but today's was top notch. Super sweet people working. Love sitting outside and enjoying a pastry from here and a coffee or tea from CF next door.

Indianapolis, IN - having just finished an excellent dinner at Bluebeard, decided I needed a bit of a walk. Amelia's was right next door and possibly adjoining Bluebeard. The charming little shop has breads and also a small amount of prepared goods. In addition there were a few pastries and cookies on display. I asked the friendly employee about the lavender cookie. She noted it wasn't her favorite as she's not a lavender fan. This was so refreshing to me having been to many places where everything I ask about is THE best and THE most delicious. The cookie tastes strongly of Lavender with a tiny bit of salt maybe and sweet but not too sweet. Texture is firm but crumbly and moist. Perfect! The cookie was reasonably priced at $3. I would definitely return when in town.

Amelia's has erased from memory any breads I may have had that are this delicious. The flavor, texture and chewiness are perfect. The baguette and the focaccia are both better than european versions I have tasted. Oh, don't miss that amazing biscuit. Great flavor with layers of butter. Please open a bakery in Cincinnati! Or offer classes to teach the world how to make bread this good. Thank you!
