Ikiru Japanese

During the meal, kept thinking, I'm coming back here when I'm in town again. Even though I had sushi in SF for dinner last night, my buddy convinced me to have sushi in San Diego this evening. Wow. The sushi nigiri was big cuts of fish, topped with fresh wasabi, the Ramen was absolutely benchmarking delicious. (Best I had in 2024!)My friend was similarly impressed by food and service. Yum!

Food is decent. Family got a chicken teriyaki bento and I got the pizza sushi roll and a side of a 2pc tuna nigiri.Sushi is definitely what you want to go for in this place. The chicken bento was okay but not amazing. The pizza roll was really good, but the baked fish on top is pretty overwhelming that you don't taste the rest of the roll. That being said, the baked fish is really good.Service is pretty quick here and looks like a lot of couples and people come here.

We stopped in here yesterday. In general things were really good. Few small things...Miso soup did not have seaweed. What the?Restaurant was hot. It was a cool day. Came in comfortable walking from car and had to remove my light jacket. Food order was not 100% but it was taken care of professionally and quickly. I tried Udon for the first time and enjoyed it. California rolls were good. Yellowfin roll was not as good as I had hoped. Edamame disappeared quickly. Ordered a second bowl and it also disappeared from table quickly. Portion small but good. Did not try garlic edamame. Staff was friendly and attentive. I would go back.

Love this local spot in Point Loma! It's always consistently good and serves up some delicious eats! The staff is always friendly and attentive. They offer a wide range of dishes to satisfy your Japanese food cravings. We love their 1)stardust roll 2)tuna blossom roll 3) spicy yellowtail roll 4) tempura 5) spicy shoyu ramen. Everything tastes super fresh and perfectly balanced in flavors. It is small,clean, and cozy inside. Free parking is also a plus!

Absolutely loved this place. It is located in a busy area but the restaurant its self is on the smaller side compared to surrounding restaurants. All of the fuss was so fresh and delicious. I highly recommend the otoro and tuna blossom, so so good. I definitely will be returning! Only downside was that the waitress poured water into my sprite but I didn't speak up so that's my fault! I'll still be back!

Second time there and just ok I was craving ramen and since I was in Liberty Station this was the closest option. The waitress was not welcoming and seemed annoyed when I asked questions about the ramen dishes. I didn't like to be at the table next to the entrance as it was very cold and uncomfortable every time someone entered, but that was the table for 3 we got, right In the middle. Uncomfortable. Fast service but super in a hurry for us to eat quickly and fill our table with new people. Ramen looked good but had no flavor. My friends had sushi and they seemed ok with their orders.

I've actually been to Japan, a few years back... I think this restaurant is very good. I really liked their spicy miso soup. I also loved their agadashi tofu. I wasn't in the mood for sushi, but my friend had a few rolls and loved them. The wine selection was not great. I'm a big wine good. The food was very good, though. I will be back.

Ikiru was delicious! It's a small hole in the wall place (a lot o great sushi places are) and it did not disappoint. The appetizers were great and all of the special rolls were awesome. They had big meaty cuts of fish and weren't the same rolls you can get just anywhere. We had a big group which can be a little difficult but they were totally accommodating.

I love sushi and have been to so many places that you just know when you walk in the door that this place is going to be amazing. The fish was so fresh and I have zero complaints. I will be back. Recommend all belly fat nigiri and the nic roll. Enjoy!!!!

Get here just before 5 PM when they open to enjoy the special fish in limited quantities. The food is delicious and they have good sake and beer. The green iced tea is super refreshing!Staff is helpful, polite and attentive.
