Ikigai Sushi & Izakaya

Came here for a weekend date night and had a great time! Food was great, ambience is on point, and only lacking in tiny details. I did the omakase with the gf here and had a great time. It was average priced for omakase (slightly below $200 pp total). The food was great with some really unique dishes that I haven't had elsewhere. Definitely worth it for omakase and amongst the better that I've had. The decor inside is on point with lots of pictures and that highlights Japanese culture. It definitely translates you to the streets of Tokyo with makes it fitting for a night out with friends or even an intimate date night. Service was okay although it's hard to judge since we mostly interacted with the sushi chef. It did seem like they were understaffed since they had one server running around. Otherwise the only other complaint I have was that it was pretty cold inside for a Feb night. But in terms of experience, I'd probably come back for some regular sushi next time. Worth trying the omakase at least once but there's many other places I want to try instead before coming back

We were able to walk in without reservations. The service was a little slow on the start, but they did get some help. our waitress was very friendly and helpful as well. I got the sashimi special, the futo maki, and the shinyu maki. It was a solid spot.

Went here late at night (10pm when the place closed at 11pm) and it truly did give izakaya vibes! People were drinking at the bar and having a good time! Their karaage comes out hot and crispy with spicy mayo dipping sauce. I thought the fish quality was good for the nigiri pieces! If you order a rainbow roll, each piece is places on the side with fish on top, rather than in an actual roll, and I thought it looked cooler than usual!

We came to Ikigai for dinner with friends before catching a show. The restuarant is intimate and cozy with cool decor. We ordered some drinks, the waitress suggested a sake and our friends had wine and beer with a shot of sake. The food was really tasty and so fresh! I really enjoyed the octopus balls, it had real pieces of octopus in the balls- so good! Probably my favorite octopus balls so far! The biggest surprise was the Chirashi! It was so fresh and flavor! Defnitely recommend this if u enjoy fresh raw fish! Some of the portions were more like tasting/sampler portions which is good if u trying something new. Would definitely recommend looking up the pics of the food to get an idea of whats coming. We tried some new dishes and loved it! *also there was plenty of street parking (paid of coz)

Ok. I came here last year and gave it a 3. It was definitely opening pains. Came back a year later and am I ever glad I did. Absolutely fabulous food and service. Can't say enough. Sushi is my favorite food and unagi is one of ny favorite pieces. This place had the best unagi ever. And the ikura was perfect and perfectly wrapped in the crispiest ever piece of nori. Absolutely recommend!!

Food was amazing and really satisfying. I wasn't too hungry going in but I kept ordering more because it was so good. I didn't have high expectations because it wasn't crowded coming in at 7:15 pm but it really exceeded my expectations. Toro Tartare melts in your mouth with full of flavor. I loved the miso soup that came with it as well. Added unagi (eel) on the side and don't regret it at all. Very creamy and cooked perfectly. Tamago was one of my favorites! It had a custard like texture and I could tell that it was made in house. I highly recommend ordering it on the side. Chicken skin was also perfectly filling and large! Sashimi was good and full of flavor as well.I loved everything I had! The service was great and the staff were on point. They were super receptive and friendly with genuine smiles. Shout outs to Ana for her excellency. Ambiance was good with appropriate lighting and interior design. Maybe the only thing I would change is the ratchet Japanese inspired dance music.

After coming here with a friend in the summer, I decided to bring my bf here for date night because pricing is very fair/reasonable in my opinion given the crazy inflation everywhere else. There are a ton of street parking right outside the restaurant, so that was really nice. My bf loved it and we can't wait to be back again! I recently found out that my friend also came here last week and had a blast. I hope the restaurant would bring back the toro tartare donburi I had before cause it was so freaking amazing. Overall, I would come back even if this place is out of the way because of how fresh the fish were as well as the yummy skewers.

Got my hopes up to try a new place out. Restaurant was rather quiet on a Wednesday evening. There was 1 sushi chef working at the moment with 3 tables of diners. Everything was overpriced for what we got. The server was very kind. Not sure if I'd come back, but here's what we got:-karaage $11: chicken was good but sauce was too lemon-y for me-Nigirizushi ($24.50) assorted nigiri; nothing special from ok quality frozen fish-NY Angus steak bento box $27.50: steak was too dry. It wasn't worth it-chirashi $30 I wish it came with uni as it did before, but instead came with a raw egg-prime kalbi $9 tasted very similar to steak in bento box-akami $12-botan ebi $9 my favorite; flavored just right -hotate $11Server was very kind and knowledgeable. She checked in on us just right.

Ambience of the restaurant is really nice! Service is exceptional, and bento box size is huge!love the skewers, but the beef is a little too tough. the sushi rolls are a little small but not bad (5 pieces in one of the rolls). other than that everything is great!

Food was good but online ordering was terrible. I ordered online for pickup and applied the first time buyer discount. I didn't see until after checkout that it wasn't applied. No big deal - I figured it would get adjusted when I got there. Order confirmed to pickup in 45 minutes. I get there 15 minutes early and my order is sitting there (hot item getting cold) and the one person working the front has no idea how to handle the credit but will have manager contact me.An hour later I get a text that my order is ready (???). No contact from manager.
