Ika Sushi Review**Sushi Ahi Tuna: 5/5**The ahi tuna sushi was exceptional. The fish was incredibly fresh, with a deep, vibrant color and a texture that was both tender and buttery. The rice was perfectly seasoned, providing a subtle balance to the rich flavor of the tuna. Each bite melted in my mouth, delivering a burst of umami that was both satisfying and memorable. The presentation was elegant, with a touch of wasabi and a drizzle of soy sauce enhancing the overall experience. The carpaccio was equally impressive. The tuna was sliced thinly and arranged beautifully on the plate. It had a delicate, slightly chewy texture that was complemented by a light citrus dressing and a sprinkle of fresh herbs. The flavor was subtle yet complex, with the natural sweetness . The addition of a slight crunch from finely chopped vegetables added an interesting contrast, making each bite a delightful combination of textures and flavors.**Overall Experience: 5/5**Both the sushi ahi tuna and the carpaccio were outstanding. The quality of the ingredients, the skill in preparation, and the thoughtful presentation all contributed to an unforgettable dining experience. This meal showcased the best of what sushi can offer: simplicity, freshness, and an impeccable balance of flavor

We stopped by on a Wednesday afternoon and I was shocked to see how busy it was. We got lucky we got the last table ! This place was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint . We got our order taken right away ! As the review say , the rolls are a little pricey but they are worth it! Sooo delicious ! We ordered the crunch roll (10/10/and a tostada roll(10/10) and chicken yakisoba(8/10 I prefer thicker noodles) . The service was quick , you can tell they are busy but efficient ! We are definitely returning soon !!

This sushi spot is my households favorite. Yes the rolls are pricey but they are well worth it. So yes definitely recommend this place for the sushi alone. The restaurant is like any other restaurant honestly, I'd feel comfortable to come here dressed however as thigh place isn't "high end" but it also does not give off "hole in the wall" vibes at all. Service: so we dined here once and honestly ...never again. The service was so bad. Other people that were seated way after us got their food before us. We never got refills despite asking for them multiple times and we were never checked on. We literally had to go to the front to just pay and leave. So of course we did NOT leave a tip. From then on we have just been ordering to go by calling in. I wish it would've been a different experience. But yea food is a 5/5 but giving this place a 2 due to the in person experience alone.

This place is amazing! Sometimes there's a small wait but it's so worth it! My favorite is the Manda's roll!! It comes with jalapeño melted butter as a dipping sauce or you can pour it over! *chefs kiss* it's literally so good either way! One time my fiance and I got two and I hate half of his AND MINE. It's just too good

This has to be one of my favorite sushi spots I've tried lately! The baja hand roll is usually my go-to but I decided this time to try it as a full roll and it did not disappoint. I also ordered shrimp tempura and a California roll maki style. I love when rolls have the seaweed on the outside. Everything was delicious! We had a few different servers throughout our meal but all of them were so nice and friendly. My friend's daughter was with us and had a doll and the server was asking her all about her doll. It was really sweet!

2.5 stars for this particular visit. The food, honestly, is 4/5 but the service in the beginning was just so odd I feel the need to knock it down.Odd experience 1: I get there at 8:10, the hostess tells me "you might not get seated as the kitchen closes at 8:30" like, what? The restaurant closes at 9pm... I've never heard of a Japanese restaurant closing early when it's busy, literally we live in Japantown and we would never be greeted with that type of behavior. Odd experience 2: I asked about the MP prices for their specials and if it was nigiri / sashimi price, and she had to double check if that's what that was? I imagine if you work at a restaurant, you would know what's on the menu. I understand maybe those specials aren't that popular but at least be aware.Odd experience 3: Feeling rushed to order like we're inconveniencing them. Food:Their toro nigiri was pretty good but not 10/10 like we've had in other SD sushi spots - 9/10 though and probably best thing we ate Salmon skin handroll - 7/10, felt haphazardly made and filled in obscure amount, but very fillingSide note to the business in general: Please, if we're taking our money and business to your restaurant, at least treat us with respect.

I go to Ika Sushi probably once every 2 months. I love going here for the protein roll (no rice) because it has so much flavor and protein. They always give exceptional sushi and service! The price shows that the quality of sushi is quite delicious. I still have yet to try more items on the menu! The ambiance is very casual, and they even expanded their restaurant from their old location which was just 2 stores down. This place would be great for groups of 6 or less. However if you want to seat more, you might be separated. Restrooms are always clean too, which is a plus for me!

This is now my favorite sushi spot in Chula Vista. The first time I tried it was two weeks ago when my sister ordered chicken/shrimp hibachi and a salmon teriyaki bowl through UberEats. Ever since then, we have had two more food deliveries from them, and I even dined at the restaurant this past week. To my surprise, when I went on a Monday night around 7:15pm, almost every single table was occupied. Luckily, my group of three was able to be seated within minutes. Everything that I have tried from Ika has been a 10/10, with the exception of the chicken/shrimp hibachi. The fried rice and shrimp were flavorful, but the chicken was on the dry side. Aside from that, amazing! The salmon teriyaki bowl is a fan favorite in my household. The salmon is always cooked to perfection and the sauce that it's cooked with (and used on the vegetables and rice) is perfect and not too sweet like other places. I think their ahi tuna tostadas are my favorite dish they have. It has a little bit of heat to it, and they really pack on the tuna. I feel like I got more tuna when I ordered via UberEats versus in person, but I think it is the restaurant being generous for their online orders. Their steak teriyaki bowl, gyoza, sashimi/nigiri and sushi rolls I have tried have all been a hit. I have no complaints when it comes to the quality of the food. When I dined in, the sushi took a little while to get to the table, likely because it was pretty packed. Our waitress was really sweet, but towards the end (since it was later in the evening), I think she was focused more on cleaning because my friends ran out of water and we were waiting a good minute for the bill. Overall, this is a great spot -- location-wise, price-wise and food-wise.

Located in a large shopping plaza. There is plenty of parking. Service was great. Everyone greeted me upon entering the restaurant. We were seated right away. Food review:Miso soup: (4/5)The broth had great flavor. The tofu had a weird taste. Edamame: (3/5)Mediocre edamame. Not really flavored well. Undercooked today. Salmon sashimi: (5/5)Tasted very fresh. The portion size was good too. Salmon avocado roll: (5/5)Salmon was fresh. Simple roll, but always delicious. Philadelphia roll w/ eel sauce: (5/5)Ordered with regular salmon, no smoked and added avocado instead of cucumber. Very good. Lemon cilantro roll: (5/5)Surprised by how tasty this roll was. The little dash of sriracha gives the roll a nice kick and a nice balance with the lemon on top. Overall tasty roll. I'd order it again. Definitely give this place a try if you want a quick bite to eat. Service was quick. Restaurant is clean. Food is delicious.

Went in for a quick bite and Alessia took care of us. She was super sweet and attentive. You can tell she enjoys working with people. The food was good and came out fast. The spicy edamame was so good especially for a quick appetizer. Presentation was nice and the atmosphere was chill. Would def come back! Thank you Alessia for being so quick with everything and the vibes.
