Iggy's bakery in Cambridge is my happy place. I feel good every time I walk in here -- it's the people, it's the food, it's the records they play on that old turn table. Just the sounds and smells here and even the people who go here. All the bread is phenomenal, but my favorites are the sticky buns and the pizza. I like to get here at 7 am just when they open and get a pecan sticky bun warm from the oven. Sometimes I eat it outside on one of the benches along the sidewalk, other times, I wait and enjoy it with a cup of coffee. Come back at 11 am when they are pulling their pan pizza out of the oven. Lunch is served! On Tuesday, I go for the portobello mushroom pizza. Your eyes will roll back in your head. If it's a Sunday, I will opt for the sausage and green pepper pizza. I go for one of the slices along the size, so I get a nice bit of crust. Any other day I might get a square of cheese pizza. They have several other variations -- but these are my favorites! You have to eat the pizza right away, while it's warm. If it sits too long, the flavor changes, which is why I always get there at 11 am as they are pulling the first pizzas out of the oven. (They'll bake more throughout the day.) One square of pizza is an entire meal for $5, so I'll often take my bounty and ride my bike to Fresh Pond where I enjoy it under the shade of the trees. If I'm getting bread, I get the Country Sour Dough. It freezes wonderfully. I also love their pecan cookies! I was going to Iggy's ever day for a while, but quickly gained five pounds, so I have to spread out my visits now. If you haven't been to Iggy's for their pecan sticky buns or pizza, you don't know what you are missing.

Having been airborne since 6a and just landed, I was hongry. So I looked up whatever was near the end of the red line and here we are. A very quiet area, there is literally nobody, and no traffic. They are nestled within a big ol' warehouse with plenty of parking, and absolutely zero seating in the establishment. I'm eating my goods on a bench on the side of the road. The coffee is your regular drip. Not weak, so I respect it. Bianca's Mortadella was solid. Not flashy, or write home about but the BREAD though. If you have a yeast addiction, check this place out! They have options, they're fresh, and tasty.

Best bread ever. I don't eat bread anymore because of dietary sensitivities, but when I risk it, I only risk it for iggy's. They have a great selection of all types of bread, and it's always fresh. I used to always get their cranberry loaf, they'd slice it up for me, and I'd freeze it when I'd get home - toasting it up whenever I craved it. Amazing stuff right there. Now days, when I go it's for pastries. Cookies are hearty and not too sweet. Croissants are super flaky. My friends say good things about the flatbreads. They also have George Howell coffee that's self-serve. They accept credit card. Please note, it's a grab & go place, there's no place to sit down. The location is in a very random part of Cambridge, looks like you're in an industrial area, even though there's shopping plazas a street away! It's also right next to an abandoned train, which I loved. When I first moved to Boston from SF, I was so proud I found this place - high quality hipster vibes lol.

Nice space in a neighborhood that looks more industrial than commercial or residential. Easy lot parking. No indoor seating, unfortunately, but a nice aquarium glass view of the bakery in action and a long inviting display case of pastries, with breads and bagels in the back. Friendly service.Chocolate Croissant: Not warm. Instant crackle and surprisingly light and bready, with no sweetness in the dough; only in the chocolate. Good butteriness. Not among my favorites, but solid.Almond Croissant: Lots of onion bagel energy here, and not because it tastes like onion. It's that the almonds on top come in both full slivers and toasted mini pieces that feel like the toasted onion pieces on an onion bagel. Same crackle, same dough. Almond cream filling tasty but minimal. Raspberry Croissant: A different style here (see photo). Layered, crunchy, buttery dough, but a little dry. Raspberry filling looked light, but with the right bite there was a lot of it and high quality. Overall, good, though I've had better within this style.Jou Jou Bread: I think that's the name. Imagine the love child of a sesame bagel and a plain croissant, in a Dunkin Munchkin sized balls of bread. Crusty on the outside, fluffy and buttery inside. These were fresh, tasty, and felt great too. At 50 cents apiece and such great quality, I can imagine buying ten or so next time.Multi-Seed Bagel: Dark brown bagel densely topped (and bottomed) with organic flax seeds, organic sesame seeds, poppy seeds, and coarse sea salt. I didn't taste much of any salt, but the rest were in full force and the bagel had a great crust yielding to a softer interior. Great size, hand formed, tasty dough, good all around. A different experience from a Jewish bagel, but a pleasurable one. Note: They won't toast it and add cream cheese, but they do offer packaged cream cheese in their refrigerator for do-it-yourself application.French Roll: Fantastic. Crusty shell outside, light and fluffy inside, great flavor. A perfect 10.Chocolate Chip Cookie: Your choice of with or without salt; I chose without. Dark color to the dough, with chocolate present beyond the chips. But the chocolate was much more subtle here than at most bakeries and the texture was almost exactly like a cereal bar. Not bad, necessarily, but if it's not what you're looking for it probably won't hit the spot.Jam Cookie: Choice of jam and I went raspberry. The base was shortbread/macaroon-like; very moist, fresh, soft, flexible, and bringing its own flavor in addition to the jam, which was also great. Very enjoyable.Summary: You probably noticed a trend of sweet items decent, bread items great. Much of it comes down to personal preferences and expectations, but I'm sticking with that. I know I'll definitely be back.

Shhh don't tell anyone. This small retail frontage at their baking facility is a something you have to be looking for to find. The baked goods are off the charts good and they have fresh items for breakfast and lunch in addition to the crazy bread and pastry selection.

My friend and I arrived at Iggy's Bread on a Saturday morning. The service is very fast, which makes it fast and convenient if you want to stop by for some bread and pastries. They also have a parking lot for customers. I decided to try the almond croissant and sticky bun. The almond croissant was amazing. It was flaky on the inside but crispy on the outside. I was a bit sad to find that part of the almond filling had fallen out of the croissant and into the bag, but the flavoring was top-notch. The sticky bun looked amazing presentation wise, but the taste was not as impactful. Personally, I do not like my pastries to be too sweet, but I would appreciate a bit more sweetness from the bun. It tasted light and not as overwhelming as it looks. What I really did enjoy was the generous number of chopped pecans scattered on top of the bun. It was fluffy and nice, but I wish it was sweeter and then it would be perfect. I did try my friend's croissants such as the chocolate and ham & cheese one. The chocolate one was not bad as I really enjoyed the rich chocolate inside the croissant. Unfortunately, the ham & cheese croissant was a bit too salty. It got a bit tiring to eat it over time. overall, my favorite would be the almond croissant. They had plenty of other pastries and sandwiches I would be happy to come back to try.

The croissants are incredible, wonderfully crisp and layered. The other baked goods were good, but not as stand out: the feta cheese twist was the one I liked least, being a little overly salty and not as flavorful. The kale and artichoke pizza tasted great and had a decent crust, but was really oily; maybe the other pizzas don't suffer from that problem? I liked the tomato and mozzarella sandwich, but it wasn't anything special.Their bread is great! It's definitely the type that's a bit tough in the crust, but I enjoy that chewiness. Definitely worth a visit if you're even vaguely in the area. You can also go to nearby Fresh Pond and picnic with the baked goods, which I would highly recommend.
